A used GT Aggressor from the 80's with rocksox suspension and the old rubber brake pads used one for a year and a half during covid for work only had to change the pedals as they wore out i was doing up hill every day. dont spend silly money on a bike you will ride thru winter in snow and ice. And disk brakes add weight to a bike with alot of maintenance
Yamaha has a ridiculous sale going on right now. They're bikes are like 60% off or more right now. For commuting I would look at the Wabash rt or the crosscore rc. Both are on sell for less than half price and come with an extra battery and extended 5 year warranty. 28mph top speed, hydraulic brakes, great bikes for the money.

When Privateer are selling the E-161 at £3999 most days. how would you say they stack up against it? Very similar Spec to the Polygon, with better suspension, Have to says i'd rather give £4k to Privateer than Go Outdoors.
I’ve a 2021 Giant stance e+ 3pro. Massively different spec than the one shown here - o rings yes, Shimano 4 pot brakes 10-51 12 speed gearing - the one reviewed is nothing like what you can get on an “affordable “ electric Stance
every year manufacturers either keep the price the same but downgrade components or raise the price for equivalent or better specs, they have been doing that for the last 15 years pretty much until the emtb market "reset" made (some of) them lower their prices on regular mtbs a decade ago I bought for 2300USD a full shimano xt mtb every single existing XT part was on it
Polygon actually owns a factory and makes bikes for other brands. We’re not sure if that includes the two brands you mention, but Polygon definitely makes its own bikes.
@@MBRmagazine It’s actually pretty interesting to know, maybe a video listing all the brands that share a frame manufacturer would be helpful for people when considering their next purchase?

i have a trek Roscoe 7 because i got it for FREE FROM A GUY in perfect condition or i NEVER thought of having one, needed a $20 shifter and upgraded $100 BUCKS COST.....i put on a royal Italian comfy seat and nicer grips and aluminum peddles and a riser on and use it as a CASUAL CRUISER ....HEY IT WAS FREE....! I have tons of trails and quiet safe tourist places to putts around for casual EXERCISE.....
peak power and torque depend on your use I rented a bosch gen4 750wh last month for a 5813ft alpine mountains ascent and wished it had less assistance in tour (1st real assist mode after eco) as tour over-helped going uphill trying to go 15mph when I was fine at 7mph enjoying the views and less torque on emtb (eco-tour-emtb-turbo) as either it tried to backflip me or even the 2.6" rear wheel slipped..that said on Bosch you can actually tune power and torque (just not on my rental) I rented an emtb to known what I wanted from them what worked or not on them for my specific usage and I can only recommend you do the same
Nice shapely review gents!
I reakon the yamaha would have to be a fun bike with the 27.5 and lower weight
I seen 1 on the trail here few weeks ago looked good too
Also in Oz yamaha does 1% finance
While going over the first bike you say it has a belt drive, but it clearly has a chain...
Or did I misunderstand you?
The motor uses an internal belt drive 👍
The test winning bike was great with the exception of two major issues on a brand new bike.... ok
Both were fixed 👍
Affordable bikes £3000-£4100! That’s not cheap or accessible, my car isn’t worth the bottom figure.
So buy a £1000 hub drive ebike instead and see how far that gets you. Not too far I’d wager. These bikes are good value considering they have similar technology to brands that sell £15k bikes and will do pretty much anything the expensive ones will do too!
Thanks for the video I'm at the age where I definitely need an ebike. I'm wanting the Yamaha but they are sold out because they got a great sell on them right now
What if you want an MTB for commuting mainly. The lowest price one must do perfectly well?
@@joshzanet8268 3K i could buy a motorbike for that i have a full license
Wow that is insane ! I hope DJI will sell this system to other manufacturers
Nice selection
Why didn’t you do Merida 140 ebike ?
Good point. The Merida looks like a decent bike.
These prices are still obscene.
I can't get a 2nd hand 600 motorbike for these prices
Not sure why I would buy a FS bike if I rode only blue trails (giant).
Maybe one day you’ll be riding reds? Hardtails are pretty uncomfortable too - doesn’t take much in the way of bumps to make for an unpleasant experience.
When Privateer are selling the E-161 at £3999 most days. how would you say they stack up against it? Very similar Spec to the Polygon, with better suspension, Have to says i'd rather give £4k to Privateer than Go Outdoors.
While the deal lasts then 100% go for it! 👍 The Privateer at that price is a bargain
I’m actually surprised there are not more licensed Yamaha motors. They’ve been making electronics and motors forever.
I’ve a 2021 Giant stance e+ 3pro. Massively different spec than the one shown here - o rings yes, Shimano 4 pot brakes 10-51 12 speed gearing - the one reviewed is nothing like what you can get on an “affordable “ electric Stance
Funny that! Compare a different model of bike from a different model year and it’s not the same! 🤷♂️
every year manufacturers either keep the price the same but downgrade components or raise the price for equivalent or better specs, they have been doing that for the last 15 years pretty much until the emtb market "reset" made (some of) them lower their prices on regular mtbs a decade ago I bought for 2300USD a full shimano xt mtb every single existing XT part was on it
Those Polygons look like the offspring of a Whyte and Marin. Are they all made in the same factory?
Polygon actually owns a factory and makes bikes for other brands. We’re not sure if that includes the two brands you mention, but Polygon definitely makes its own bikes.
@@MBRmagazine It’s actually pretty interesting to know, maybe a video listing all the brands that share a frame manufacturer would be helpful for people when considering their next purchase?
Basically you’re looking at Polygon, Giant, and Merida. They’re the only big brands we know of that actually make their own frames.
28:53 "... but I still rode it with a strap on"
I really wish people stopped comparing bikes you can only get on sale and that have very limited availability sometimes a single day to the regular market, especially since those prices only work for europeans a 5000$ cube is 10'000 in the US and 15'000 in AU at least start with "IF and WHEN you can get it on sale and IF you live in the right country" instead of saying "you made a bad choice because you bought what is actually available to you" except it's not I waited too long my sizes on sale are all gone the next comparable bike is now 2000€ more, this is not a video about waiting for the correct season and time to buy a bike or ebike and where to get the best deals
Sorry for not predicting future stock levels for every specific model, guessing which bikes would be discounted and by how much, and covering bikes available in every single potential market that someone viewing the video might live in. We’ll try harder next time.
There's a lot of people having problems with that new Polygon
Battery problems?
Yamaha is on -40% sale currently. 2913€ with tax. Great price!
I strapped a cyc photon to a specialised fuse comp. All up $4k AUD with a 52v 20ah battery. Way more power and torque then these at i lower price point.
The new 2025 polygon TE-N looks badass
Love my Moro.
Is the Poligon entry level bike?😮
the Aventon Ramblas be in the list?
I just bought a Focus Jam2 6.7 for £3k on the nose.
Bosch CX / Shimano Deore / DVO upfront and Rockshox in the rear / rolling on Maxxis dh's - it craps on the Decathlon offering from a great height tbh
Was it discounted?
@@MBRmagazineMust be - latest model though. Purchased from the electric bike shop.
Also bought it through cycle2work so will only end up paying about £2k
Good work 👌
😱
Ha, yes, we need to add the word 'sterling' to that!
no vitus on that list?!
Sadly you can’t but them anymore.
I would think about buying a bike like this with monthly payments. However it would probably be broken before I had it paid off!
Good video
Get a second battery FREE from. One dealer for the YAMAHA
In America
Budget emtb... £3K 🤜😖🤛
Lardee-bloody-dah.
AFFORDABLE lol cheapest ebike 3k and describing 6.5k bikes as entry level in another video the bike industry and their promoters are completely deluded as to what affordable means
Or you could just get the Cube Stereo Action Team 160 for £4199, Fox factory 38 and Float X carbon frame full xt. No brainier.
An emb should not cost as much as a dirt bike. Prices will come down eventually.
Too much hate on e-bike and wireless drivetrain, I mean just DON'T BUY IT if you hate it, people act like they're required by law to buy one.
This 👆
I use to be on the fence until I heard, “no need for a recovery or rest day!”. More miles means more smiles.
An emb should be a tenth the price of a dirtbike. The prices are absurd.
I payed £2500 for a cube stereo hpc 750 brand new . Better value by a mile than all these bikes. Shimano deore, magura mt thirty, Shimano domain 160 , carbon Frame......
Great deal! I’m guessing it was on sale though?
@@MBRmagazine yes. That's the top tip for getting a good bike within the budget price region. Look for the sales.
Marin trail e2 pls
Sadly a stientrike with no motor is in the same price range…
Secondo voi, qual'e' la migliore?❤
Did you watch the video? 🤷♂️
Need a ramblas
Great marketing the best bike is the one that broke i will not buy any of these but the Yamaha looks nice
Yamaha has just pulled out of USA ebike market, hence why all the good deals in the comments. Wonder what will happen globally in future…
None of them. A DIY e-bike is far cheaper to build and you can start out with a much better base bicycle. I converted both my Cannodale Trail Six and Milwaukee gravel bikes and they are now awesome e-machines and faster and more powerful than EU regulated bikes.
That's hilarious 😂
@EmotoOregon All true, but this was an educational video. My RUclips Channel shows my bikes and plenty of rides, they work well and my old knees are happier too! I just passed 1650 km on the new Cannondale, 25,000 on the Milwaukee, no problems and its very hilly in this area of Spain.
totally illegal and if your battery burns and causes harm you'll go to jail congrats
@@fredEVOIX if you buy a cheap ass battery you get what you get. There's nothing wrong with Panasonic or Samsung batteries and they're probably the same ones in the high-priced spread. I will grant you not everyone is smart enough to build their own e-bike.
@@EmotoOregon True - I blow away European e-bikes all the time. EU regulations are a pain for e-bike buyers.
Yamaha sale right now is insane.
Absolutely.
They are withdrawing from the USA market
My well hung Haibike was Stolen
No Marin?!? Boooo!
just get a diy kit :P way cheaper and even faster :D
Flexstays and over 26KG 😂🎉
I mean they’re not really doing it for weight saving!
3 Grand cheapest lol
Exactly what I was thinking
For 5k you can stick it not worth it all there a bloody gimmick
I can buy a car at that price and drive it year around.
cheeper to get petrol bike ffs
Budget my ass who wants to spend 3k on a fuckin bike
Not you, obviously.
I wouldn't even spend 3K on a motorbike getting blasted by 40 MPH winds at 70 MPH is cool but not 40 MPH winds at top speed 15 MPH in the freezing winter 🤣🤣 and they pick the best bike as the one that broke
Ridiculous prices
wel that was a dumb revieuw compleet paid
The fact that your comment has a translate option below it speaks volumes.
Strap on….
Stop sniggering at the back!
ebikes are too ugly. not for me.
MTB DEAD
This is amateur bike, and should be driven like amateurs do. What's the point of that jumping??
It's like F1 driver testing fiat panda full power, simply stupid.
You should read your comment and figure out what you just asked. SMH.
@@Ariautoace you should work on your understanding skills.
This crap is killing the sport, it’s all about how much your bike costs and I fucking hate electric bikes , if you can’t peddle up the hill you shouldn’t be allowed to roll down it
And if you can't spell "pedal", you shouldn't be allowed to ride a bicycle...
