While a student at VCU in the early 80's I used to ride all over the city. Been to the Cary Bike Store many times. Great city and terrific environment.
Went to visit VA before I end up moving there and Richmond and the surrounding areas are very alive and beautiful. Currently a everyday commuter so I’m excited to be a part of VA community! :)
Independent, little startups taking hold in a city are giving them such richly textured character and optimism that big, monolithic faceless corporations just can't compete with. Richmond, VA looks a cool place to visit. Millions of eyes from around the world are going to be on you very soon. That's going to be done tough road race. Can't wait!
halifaxx55 Maybe other cities will develop in character, focusing now on uniqueness than cloning other places. If cities become smaller, more human scale, veritable tight collections of small, proud and interesting towns that would make living and visiting there pretty cool.
+Chris WSK - I am from RVA - (actually, my office is on the road circuit course and we live a block from team time trial course (look for me under the Bellevue arch) - so I can tell you from my commutes (both on bike and in my car) most of the course has been repaved...much of it, it the last month or so. In anycase quickly scanned the video - and most of the footage is the cobblestones as far a course footage, I didn't see any potholes on anywhere else that was courses. I hope you can make it!
+Soliel Paden great... i heard about richond and i found its very nice city... im dyeing to come there but im not getting any way... im upset ... can u help me plz
I am from Richmond. I don't get enough chances to come back home. I can't wait for my youngest to graduate from high school here in Maryland, so I can move back home. I moved away when I was 13 never thought I would miss it as much as I do.
+Zach Wong It is a colonial city. Unlike most cities on the west coast it is constricted by the older buildings and can't expand the roads much. I do know what you mean though, the West coast is built around the roads, no roads no big cities. therefore bigger roads to handle more traffic.
richmond is definitely a cool city but not where i would want to have a bike race. they really didn't do a good job selling the cycling conditions based on that video.
How did Richmond, Va beat out other cities like Boston, Chicago, Portland, Seattle. I mean the list goes on for a better city to host this than Richmond, Va.
Super excited to have the world race on the same roads I ride everyday!
Must be a great feeling
It's so dope to see out home through someone's eyes. I wouldn't wanna call anywhere else home. I love this city

Carytown Bikes is a great shop. Very nice workers there!
Wow... this was pretty good, and props to Specialized for not vomiting their logos and branding all over it! ;)

+Kiat Huang I feel like NY and LA have come and gone, they've become over inflated and too big to 'move' or innovate.

Those a cobblestone roads! Like in the old days. Richmond has a mix of paved and cobblestone roads. There aren't a lot of potholes here tbh
+velochris swe Fuck you...Leave my Richmond alone...
+velochris swe
Please don't judge Richmond from this video.
Those are just the roads that have been fixed.

"It seems a lot tighter than courses in Europe" said no one ever about American roads hahaha
+Zach Wong Richmond city is very tight compare to other cities,
and I see a lot of people being frustrated driving in this city
meg meg compared to Europe, though? C'mon.
+Zach Wong haha okay,
anyways he was compaing UCI race course not the roads.

Know this is an advertisement but Richmond, VA is more than bicycling.
+Suzanne Miller Agree Suzanne...Richmond to me is like New York and London put together.
+Una Sana Richmond to me is road biking, mountain biking, rafting, city walks, hiking, great murals & lots of history. Oh and Galaxy Diner!
Nicolas Cooper more like Washington DC and Atlanta put together.
Ronnies BBQ is really good
The only thing I like about Richmond is Lamb of God
