Marty is already a legend but Kiko is so brilliant and precise in his playing , and he gives extra flavors and more creativity to Megadeth , a genius !
Kiko is a legend too, look for his work with the angra, I recommend you listen to the album temple of shadows, listen to the morning star solo

Marty holds a special place in my heart, cuz he made me got into Megadeth and made me think about melody instead of just playing an endless stream if notes so I like Marty a bit more then Kiko, both are obviously amazing in their own special way. But i do have to admit Kiko suits Megadeth more then Marty
I feel the same way. They both blow me away with their playing and i always had a bias towards Marty. Making this video made me appreciate kiko a lot more too.

I don't have a preference, even being Brazilian, I think both are legends. Kiko has just a little bit more status today because he played in TWO major world bands in different genres.
Honestly I thought Chris Poland was the BEST compliment to Dave's riffs. I love Marty and kiko though.
Angra Temple of Shadows is a brilliant record more people should listen.

When you reach technical proficiency in guitar like Friedman petrucci Becker malmsteem it's completely subjective however kiko is like the that child who inherited all of those.

Two legends but to my ear Kiko's early Angra and No gravity albums sounds better than the work he's doing with Megadeth. So I liked Marty better with Megadeth. Great vid bud👌🏾🤙🏾

Yes! Also regarding melody Angra is above Megadeth in my opinion. But regarding heaviness, Megadeth is on top (cough... beyond Metallica). Which is good because I love both genres.
Kiko is awesome, but Marty's stuff just sounds like it 'fits' every time. It might not be as 'technical' as some of Kiko's stuff, but it takes you on a journey and you can almost hum along to it. Only Marty could do his solos and come up with that sounds. Kiko has his own sound, but a lot of other guitarists these days write stuff similar. No one does it like Marty.
I completely agree. Its not just the notes he plays but his vibrato and the way he plays his notes are so specific that its extremely difficult to mimic. Anyone can play a fast legato run, but the feel marty produces with his playing brings a whole different personality to the table.

You has heard "Open Source" Or any solo album by Kiko?? Kiko is a Prog guitar player on a Thrash Metal band and this fit unusually well.
@Neurocorpus he's great in his solo stuff but his work with Megadeth and really anything else doesn't compare to Marty because no one does

Kiko is a beast, let’s just start with that. And I love the way he still keeps Freidmans sound in his solos. Dave is a genius and probably the best rhythm guitarist to do it but without Marty Megadeth probably wouldn’t have been successful as long as they have been.

Why am I only now hearing Forrest Howard? Fantastic job, man! As to who won, it's obviously a difficult choice. I've been listening to Friedman since he was in Cacophany, and to Kiko for almost as long. Since I have to choose, the answer is Marty. His solos are simply more memorable. I didn't find Kiko's solos to be among those that I could point out and recall years later except for the very last entry, "Conquer or Die," which really stood out with its variations around a single melody. Anyways, you got a new subscriber.

Kiko, like others such as Max Cavalera, was able to bring the brazilian feeling to metal music. And to us he will always be n.1. It’s the combination of feeling + technique and creativity
unfortunately there are no matched guitarists for Kiko in this or the next generation, it's not hard to choose

@@paulovitorsimoes3990 cara, a quantidade de solos bons que tem no temple of shadows é absurdo, e acho que quase todos "se não todos" são mais difíceis de executar do que o solo da tornato of souls, o solo da tornato of souls não terminei de aprender por que o braço da minha guitarra é um pouco curto, já o solos do temple of shadows simplesmente não consigo tocar, agora na questão de qual tem mais felling, sinceramente acho que isso depende do gosto de cada um.

@@paulovitorsimoes3990 Marty tem mais alma eu diria, melodias mais humanas. O Kiko eh extremamente tecnico e preciso. Mas ele compensa com a alma do lado de fora do palco. Eh importante pra banda, nao basta ser musico, tem que ser um cara que soma pro grupo e pra manter a lenda viva. Nesse ponto acho que o Marty da uma caida no ranking. E ele eh meio estranho, ja viu tocando ao vivo o jeito que ele segura a guitarra? Eu desconfio que o Marty tem algum grau de autismo, tipo o Messi. Geralmente os caras genios mesmo nao batem muito bem da cabeca...

While Kiko's solos are technically brilliant, they are missing something Marty's solos have, that is emotion. Speed and precision are wonderful tools which Kiko exploits magnificently. Marty as them too, but Marty's solos have more soul, imho. Both kick ass... but I give it to Marty.

Kiko playing in Angra is something that a guitarist with such creativity and virtuosity is about to be born. Respect to Marty, but let's face it, Kiko in Megadeth didn't even reach 10% of his capacity.

It does kind of annoy me that people think Marty is better then Kiko he is so amazing and he teaches on his RUclips channel I learned so much from him.
Em nível de complexidade o Kiko ganha com sobra, mas em questão de feeling tem a ver com qual estilo você mais se identifica pois ambos são virtuosos.
Acho que o Friedman ganha fácil em complexidade, ele pensa muito mais fora da caixa.
@@BrunoidGames Nesse caso aí penso que vc está se referindo ao feeling. Complexidade não tem como comparar. Basta avaliar o trabalho solo de ambos e pensar. Qual seria mais difícil de reproduzir? E na carreira em geral , quem teria mais dificuldade em reproduzir o trabalho do outro, Kiko no Megadeth ou Marty no Angra ? Então essa complexidade acho que não dá pra discutir. Agora feeling é uma coisa particular de cada um.

But not now anymore, because Kiko also joined the same band Megadeth.
I can compare them and easily can get the coculusion.
Marty is much more optimized for Megadeth using his skill for creation soloing. He played his epic on Megadeth music.
Kiko is more technition than Marty and he can play like guitar machine. it is exact and a bit boring.
Do you play any Chris Poland solos, or were not much a fan of that Era? I definitely agree with that guy who was talking about Angra that I prefer Chris and Kiko's work outside Megadeth. Most of Poland's leads in Ohm are better than anything he played in MD.
Tbh I wasnt the biggest fan of the era. Megadeth is fairly hit and miss for me but when I listen to them its usually the 90s or 2000s albums. Dystopia was what turned me on to Kiko, such an incredible guitarist imo. Ill have to look in to some of the chris poland solos because ive only heard good things about him
Can I make recommendations as far as a few songs go? Cause I have a few: Between Us (Self Titled Ohm album), Love Song (Self Titled), Icarus Falls (Amino Acid Flashback), and El Bombo (From a live New Yorkers 1980 track set that was released and remastered by Cameron5540).
Angel off the Rare Trax album has a nice solo in it as well.
