Hugh Grant is the epitome of 90’s avant-grade persona. His acting prowess is incredibly underrated: spontaneous yet quirky, awkwardly charming, manifests a rare sense of humor, and an exquisite control. The profile description of his character prove that many of the most actors do not have what he does. He has to be one of the greatest actors of all time, seriously guys, watch his films.
@@sayno2lolzisback I agree! Graham’s Channel 4 days were (seriously) “edgy.” Since he’s been with the “Beeb” he’s not been as wildly unguarded. Every bit as funny, though.
Don't know why she was avoiding the word, but it's called umami, and she sounded like she was going to say it about three times in explaining anchovies. It's that depth of flavour (that actually is also in Marmite, I think). And parmesan. And soy sauce.
I love anchovies. But, the last time I'd had them on pizza they were so salty it took over the taste of whole pizza. It was a burning saltiness like eating a saltlick.
I don't eat fish for pleasure either, though to survive I would. Anchovies ? They're in Worcestershire Sauce so I've learned. Mercifully there's no fishiness to that though.
Each to their own. I like baked and deep fried fish but for the life-of-me i can not eat tinned tuna, salmon or anchovies. Would love to have something created by Nigella.
Some of us are more sensitive to fish 🐟 odors, and I wondered Hugh is one of them? I know I am. I don’t like the smell of the Pacific Ocean on the eastern coast of North America. It smells like dead fish to me. Ireland’s coasts weren’t as wretched, not sure why, but I’m sure they have their smelly days as well. Just do you know, there’s a science to this. Fish have trimethylamine oxide to help them deal with the saltiness of the ocean. When they die, bacteria, and their own enzymes, convert trimethylamine oxide into trimethylamine, which is that wretched fish odor.
The Pacific Ocean is on the west coast of North America. Perhaps you’re thinking of the Atlantic. I find the odors vary quite a bit, depending on topography, tide and time of year. Also on what “we” are dumping into it. Generally, I love the smells of the ocean.
I'm with Hugh too. Just the smell of fish makes me retch (not wretch, thanks Helen!). People do always say "try this one, it doesn't taste of fish" yes it bloody does, I can taste the damn smell of it. It's fishy and it's disgusting.
Yeah it really is an aquired taste. Even me a lover of seafood, will sometimes prefer other dishes when given the option, because i dont feel like tasting the ocean or getting the slightest hint of sand in my teeth. The way i look at foods that arent particularly popular, is the same way i watch movies. Sometimes i just want to taste something that i think is interesting and not necessarily pleasant
*retch. A wretch is something you can be though. The fresher the fish is, the less it should smell. Freshwater fish, such as trout, is not salty and can have quite a light delicate flavour.
@@heliotropezzz333 Thank you Grammar Police, where would we be without you! As delicate as it might be to you, to those of us who dislike fish, it's still very fishy and quite disgusting.
My friend will not eat anything that comes from the ocean. I said what happens if you are stuck on a deserted island like Castaway. Nope. She’ll starve.
Gotta say, I'm with Hugh. I liked fish as a kid, but as I entered my teens, I just stopped liking it. Today, I can't eat beef if I can smell fish, and trying to eat fish puts me off eating any kind of meat for about a day.
@@philbecker4676 many restaurants serve both beef and fish. Sometimes, together, usually referring to it as surf and turf. I've also been to dinners and barbecues where the host was offering both fish and beef. I usually end up eating salad and veggies when that's the case. Also, I live in Western Washington, so yeah, sometimes there are nice restaurants right on the waterfront. @Natmanprime nope. And I don't. But there's nothing wrong with eating it. I'd probably be closer to vegetarian if I enjoyed more vegetarian foods. I'm an equal opportunity food disliker. I barely eat beef, anymore. I kind of wonder why you felt you had to have such a rude reaction. Not like, a lot. But it's a curious way to be.
Britain being the undisupted leader in the culinary world, it should come as no surprise simple fresh food is frowned upon. Only the finest processed chips and sweets passes the scrutiny of the populace and if you’re still hungry just wash it down with another pint 🤣
Nigella certainly enjoyed the free wine which Graham's production provide to the guests, judging by the way she was slurring some of her words. Graham said he likes to get his guests pissed before the show, so they feel more relaxed.
Only people who like fish say that. Every fresh fish market and counter I’ve been to stinks to high heaven so much that I have to run away or be sick, and my fish loving friends think it smells fresh..
Yes cooking fish is quite smelly,so if you're frying or steaming fish always add garlic, don't mix it with the fish just cook it beside the fish, the smell will be less appalling.

Those 5 US talkshow hosts would be too busy thinking he's British 😅
