Hi I'm living in Europe/ The Netherlands and my wife and I visit Calfornia a cpl years ago. We went al the way from LA to SF and its awesome!! It's so beautifull! This brings back memory's! Thanks for al yr great rides and music!
I’m from Thousand Oaks, also lived in Camarillo off of Adolfo and Mission Oaks Boulevard. I live in the Midwest now; Moved there to be near my daughter and grandson. However, I regret leaving. So so beautiful, especially Ventura County. If you’re still there, don’t make the same mistake that I did as you will regret it. My plan is to come back very soon and forever.
I was living close to this way when I was studying abroad for graduate degree back 2012-2014. What a nice memories especially when I rode bike from Thousand Oaks through Oxnard to Malibu and getting back before sunset 🌅. Sometimes I was riding my bike from Malibu to Santa Monica. Riding a bike through 1 pacific road and the ocean on your side it gives unforgettable wonderful feeling that still knocking in mind continuously till this moment. Greetings from Saudi Arabia
I don't know how I missed your comment this entire time. Thank you for watching! Yeah, I'd say you have a pretty awesome commute compare to the average American, LOL.
Beautiful Brent. Loved the track. I could get lost there, One thing I found strange is the number of cars crowding the side near Malibu than where you started to the south. I rather be there and get a larger piece of the ocean.
That's one of your best works IMO, everything was just right, great soundtrack choice. Note to self, drive this next time I'm out there. Definitely a great ride, big thumbs up!
Thanks! Took awhile to determine what soundtrack I was going to use; pretty happy with the end result. Yeah, it's hard to find a section of the PCH, this undeveloped between Oxnard, all the way to its southern terminus in Dana Point, which makes the drive all the more better. Glad you enjoyed!
This music helped me take in this amazing road. I do have to drive it almost every day but it is really nice and I have never really thought about it. Thanks for the vid. Keep sharing your adventures.
tall32guy : Thanks for checking in, once again! Yeah...I got pretty lucky with the lack of coastal fog, light traffic and...yeah, even finding the "right" song for this video. Very happy with the way this came out. :-)
Excelente, una de mis caminos favoritos que como todavía no lo conozco personalmente lo recorro a través de estos videos con una música que invita a viajar. Un verdadero trabajo de calidad. Saludos de Argentina!
Thanks for dropping by once again! Hopefully I'll be able to release more PCH videos soon; currently working on the northbound ride along I-405 over Sepulveda Pass. Should be out in a week or so.
Yeah...I feel that the signs add a little bit of authenticity to the overall viewing experience of the video, and are good navigational aids in case my viewers actually see the road for themselves one day. Thanks for dropping by and commenting!
Did I not ever respond to your comment? If not, I'm sorry. Been very busy with work...with that being said, glad you enjoyed watching! I actually had this song already mentally synced to this stretch of the PCH a few years ago, but didn't have time to actually capture the footage until May of this year. Glad it worked out well!
FreewayBrent No problem, you weren't forced to respond to my comment. it's a very good thing you take your time to do it. We all have to work. You are one of the reasons I finally want a car... And visit the pacific coast one day.
beautiful video and music. never been along the coastal hiway. allways wonder what it is like out there. if i never make it out there videos like this help me dream.
topknocker hamp : Thank you very much! Truth be told, this isn't even the most scenic stretch of this world-famous highway...about 200 miles to the north, California State Route 1 hugs the coastline along Big Sur...easily one of the most amazing stretches of roadway to be found anywhere on this planet. I hope to finally film it this summer, if time permits.
Thank you very much! Wasn't quite sure if I got the timing down with regards to the video speed, but all in all, people seem to have been very much in approval of this video. I'm glad. It's an awesome stretch of the PCH, and it was nice to finally put this on RUclips. Expect another new video out in about a week from now.
Thank you so much! I've been happy with the overall feedback and very positive comments this video has been getting...hopefully many more others end up watching it...especially since this is one of my favorite drives in California.
FreewayBrent One of mine too. Love it above Malibu for taking a drive. What kind of camera did you use? Did you go up that beach on the hill by chance?
Fantastic Brent! Soundtrack was absolutely perfect for this. I actually felt like I was there for a second, and when I woke up, it made me yearn to visit the States even more. In my opinion, it feels a little like the Great Ocean Road in Australia but more semi arid and overall better!
I have been on this hwy so many times when I go to Camarillo to see family! I never get tire of either! The first time was back in 1998 or close to that time when the hills overlooking Malibu were falling down into Malibu after all the rain they had! It was scary, but beautiful at the same time! Last year we stopped at the Neptune restaurant for Crab sandwiches & Clam chowder in bread bowl, so so good too!I love the Santa Monica pier too only one time we didn't go! We also saw the Red Moon and took well over an hour to get through Malibu! Family wasn't happy we were late getting to Camarillo! We are from Canon City,Colorado & we have beautiful Mountains & The Royal Gorge! I am originally from Central New York 's Finger Lakes Region! I love America's beauty!Joanne
Tony Rivera : Thank you very much! I'm hoping to eventually get around to releasing more videos of this amazing roadway. In the mean time, if you want to watch something that is also dramatic, but in a very different way (mountians in the desert), I'll link you to my newest video, showcasing the ride along Texas Loop 375 in El Paso, Texas. ruclips.net/video/KihO3XbmH6g/видео.html
Great video. Thank you. I'm from Texas. Back in '97 I had the opportunity to take my family on a road trip to California. We had a great time. Nearly all went well. Two minor drawbacks, the opportunity to overlook the veiw of San Bernardino valley at night and to drive this route. I am genuinely thankful you made this video. It is an amazing veiw of the coastline. It's always been a dream of mine to see. I hope I again get the opportunity to take a trip to California and this time not miss taking this route... oh and to see San Bernardino's view.🙂
I was stationed at Point Mugu NAS and got to ride this and all the roads up in the hills whenever I wanted for 3 1/2 years. I especially loved the Deer Creek Road. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. :) You did however not mention the famous "Neptune's Net" restaurant right at the end of your video. Point Break, Fast and Furious, and who knows how many other movies and TV show shot there, and good surf right across the street! Great vid, keep making more!
Great work, man! Loved your music choice, and the scenery was beautiful! It definitely makes me miss being out there... haha :-) Looking forward to more!
Thank you so much for the ride! This used to be my playground. I miss it very much. I really appreciate you posting this. Felt like I was back home again. You want some gas money? LOL!
aviator408 : Dude...thanks so much...for watching, that is, lol. No need or desire to take your gas money though, lol. I do this for free, just for the viewing entertainment of everyone who drops by to watch and comment. Glad you enjoyed the ride. Hoping to eventually release more PCH videos in the future.
Glad you enjoyed watching! Yes, the drought is getting more severe by the day...but I think we'll be fine out here. The drought we had from 1987 to 1990 was worse, in my opinion.
Thanks! Yes, it is indeed a wonderful drive. Feel free to check out some of my stuff from Australia as well..specifically my Sydney CBD freeway tour video if you have some time. Cheers!
+Mark Blunck : I actually took this stretch of the PCH for granted while growing up, but have appreciated it a lot more in my adulthood. Thanks for watching!
Ouch! That's a bummer. Sorry you guys out east are dealing with that horrible cold snap. It's been mostly in the upper 60's to upper 70's, up here in the San Francisco Bay Area for a good 2 months now.
FreewayBrent That's warm for you mid winter isn't it?. When I was in Frisco in July 1973 it was 58 overcast 40 MPH winds. Of course 40 miles inland it was over 100. We are forcasted for 1 degree tonight
Edward Kollin : Yes, this is indeed very warm for this time of the year. Not unprecedented to have a few short warm spells during the winter months (think low to upper 70's), but not for weeks and weeks on end, like what we've had the past 3 winter seasons in a row. June and July can sometimes be the coldest months in San Francisco, due to a California coastal phenomenon called "June Gloom", where the coast can remain immersed in fog and low morning clouds that fail to burn off, for days or even weeks at a time. August, and especially September and October are the best months to visit...warm and sunny!
Great video, that stretch of PCH is fun, and nice to not have so many signals. I used to drive it North all the way to Las Posas where it becomes a freeway briefly. Have you considered doing the freeway stretch? Or California 33 from the 101 to Ojai. So many to choose from, keep up the good work!
I really enjoy your videos and this is definitely one of my favorites thank you for your content! Can I ask how you're able to add the road sign animations in and using what software? Thank you and keep making awesome vids! :)
Hello, now I see where Logan is, it's not far from Mooloolaba where I have been - nice to meet someone that has been in the are as well, cheers! G'Day Mate:)
Right after Yerba Buena at 4:56 on left is the Neptune Net seafood restaurant, a bikers' hangout place. It is a fun people watching place on weekends as there are hundreds of bikers there and watch them doing wheelies & donuts. Just search Neptune Net here. There is another similar place down the road called Malibu Seafood.
Thank you! To answer your question, I had to go back and open up the video file on my editor to see the speeds I selected...it appears that I time-lapsed this video to speeds equating between 69 MPH and 134 MPH (2.3-2.4x, with speeds in real time as low as 30 MPH around the curves, and up to 56 MPH on the straighter sections). It just doesn't appear that fast on the camera though.
Nice video and I think Go Geoff filmed the southern ocean road which is Australia's equivalent to the Pacific coast highway. The only sections of the Pacific Coast Highway that I have travelled on is Gaviota Pass to Ventura, Long Beach to Dana Point, & Watsonville to Pebble beach
GoJo Geoff and Bruce McAbee, have both done videos of the the Great Ocean Road and to a great job! In my opinion, both these routes are similar take away the semi arid environment in this case.
+SarahUK : Usually, it's warm. :-) It was actually raining and a bit on the cool side this past weekend, but it'll be back to typical California warmth and sunshine by the latter half of this week. Thanks for watching!
Robert Romeril : It is indeed a fantastic drive. Want to switch places for a few months? lol. I've been dying to visit London and other parts of the UK. Hopefully within the next few years.
I'm a local of SoCal and your videography captures the atmosphere of this drive very effectively. The slightly sped-up playback (timelapse) further adds to the presentation. Great use of annotation and authentic traffic signs! Only drawback is that a low-sitting car cannot "see" over that guard-rail. I've biked PCH (SR1), and my higher vantage point made an important difference only an SUV, van or truck can match. Alas, bikes are not practical for road videos and upgrading vehicles for sole purpose of roads vids can be $$. Google Streetview vehicles are Priuses, but they use high mount camera on a "tripod" like setup: www.google.com/maps/about/images/behind-the-scenes/about/device-carousel1.jpg Hint, hint ;)
Hi there! Just wanted to take a few moments to respond. First of all, I'm very glad you enjoyed watching! I spent about 12 total hours on this video (spread over several days), from the time I spent filming, to creating the signs, synchronizing the music and footage together, and typing up the annotations. To see so many people leaving positive comments is quite rewarding and humbling. As for your point about setting up the camera to be much higher, I actually like your idea a lot, but I think my long-time subscribers do appreciate seeing my drives from the perspective of being "behind the wheel." It's hard for me to explain, but it's easier for me to decipher and synchronize footage and music together, with the current setup I have. Actually, I'll provide you a link to another video I spent quite a bit of time on, showcasing the Santa Monica Freeway. You can watch if you'd like, whenever you have some spare time. It might help you to understand the whole relationship between music and footage (i.e. a camcorder placed too high off the ground will be harder to really sync the music with the footage, while a camcorder placed too low will make it appear as if you're just staring at pavement, and not really "driving"). ruclips.net/video/pM7mIQDPVrg/видео.html Anyway, thanks once again for dropping by; much appreciated when I see people leaving comments and "liking" the video!
Thank you! I recorded this on an older camcorder...a Flip Ultra 3rd generation camcorder that was sold to the public in 2010. Cisco bought them out shortly afterwards and then shut down the camcorder division. So bummed as they made cheap, easy to use camcorders with brilliant image stabilization...perfect for what I do.
I did this trip back in 2012 but we travelled North bound from Santa Monica to San Francisco......we were advised by an American friend it was better coastal viewing in that direction. Fantastic memories, would definitely recommend if you get the opportunity.
I haven't driven this stretch of road in about 6 months, but I just returned to LA yesterday and will probably hit up the Malibu coastline sometime this week. Love this drive!
Awesome! Have a great time...that drive is absolutely gorgeous, especially going southbound. Afterwards, hit up the 3rd Street Promenade in downtown Santa Monica, then the fun bars, cafes and restaurants along the 2400-3100 block of Main Street in Santa Monica (also known as Ocean Park)...and finally one of my favorite streets in Greater LA, nearby Abbot Kinney Blvd in Venice (1000-1700 Abbot Kinney Blvd), one of the best strips in the south land for trendy restaurants, cool boutiques, 3rd wave artisan coffeehouses and one of my favorite breakfast spots in town...The Butcher's Daughter. Cheers.
Thanks man! For some odd reason, RUclips wouldn't allow me to respond to your specific comment until this past week. Glad you enjoyed! Hopefully you've been able to enjoy my Australia series of videos this year (5 videos now, working on #6 for release later this month).
+zdzichu1966 : Hey there. Thanks! I actually recorded this with a 3rd generation Cisco Flip Ultra camcorder, and mounted it to a sturdy tripod that I situated on the passenger floor in my car.
I'd missed this video till now, not sure why. But an amazing stretch of road, and awesome vid! This stretch seems less publicized, vs. the infamous California 1 stretch south of the area around Santa Cruz and Monterey. I guess there's a campground, somewhere within Point Mugu State Park? Also, what was the approximate AM or PM time, when you filmed this? Looks like a morning video, though.
+BoratWanksta : Hey there. Thanks! A bit surprised at all the comments and views this video has gotten. Indeed, this stretch of the PCH isn't as popular as Big Sur, but I love it just as much. Not sure about any campgrounds within Point Mugu State Park, but there's probably a few, scattered throughout the park. The California state government should list them all on their parks website. Filmed this around 3:30 PM...had to wait for the sun to be located a bit behind my car, to keep the footage from looking grainy. Happy with the way everything turned out.
One of the best routes in the country. Entering Malibu is an experience one doesn't soon forget.
Hi I'm living in Europe/ The Netherlands and my wife and I visit Calfornia a cpl years ago.
We went al the way from LA to SF and its awesome!!
It's so beautifull! This brings back memory's! Thanks for al yr great rides and music!
Growing up in Camarillo would drive this often, so ruggedly beautiful.

this is my drive to work 3x a week in Malibu CA 👍👌 nice video
Awesome
I don't know how I missed your comment this entire time. Thank you for watching! Yeah, I'd say you have a pretty awesome commute compare to the average American, LOL.
Lucky you. I bet it never gets old.

Wow! What do u do if u dont mind my asking?!
Nothing like SoCal!! Beautiful!
Yeah, it's such a gorgeous part of the world. Thanks for dropping by and commenting!
@@FreewayBrent looking fwd to more of your SoCal vid!😊
very relaxing could watch it for hours

Beautiful Brent. Loved the track. I could get lost there, One thing I found strange is the number of cars crowding the side near Malibu than where you started to the south. I rather be there and get a larger piece of the ocean.
Awesome ride. Beautiful road signs as usual, and nice choice of music too. Need to watch it again on TV!
Hope the experience was even better on the big screen TV!
That's one of your best works IMO, everything was just right, great soundtrack choice. Note to self, drive this next time I'm out there. Definitely a great ride, big thumbs up!

Song name??
Je rêve de faire cette route un jour, de Los Angeles à San Francisco. :)
Merci beaucoup pour ce partage, j'ai adoré !
like always amazing video describing a beautiful country, i like very much this song.............Youcef from Algeria.
This music helped me take in this amazing road. I do have to drive it almost every day but it is really nice and I have never really thought about it. Thanks for the vid. Keep sharing your adventures.
what a beautiful day to video this, and what a great view! The relaxing and cool music really adds to it also! Great job Brent!!!
tall32guy : Thanks for checking in, once again! Yeah...I got pretty lucky with the lack of coastal fog, light traffic and...yeah, even finding the "right" song for this video. Very happy with the way this came out. :-)
My commute to work for a bit. The peacefulness is unexplainable. Beautiful.
Love it! We'll be there in a couple of weeks and I really hope my drive down the PCH from Malibu is this nice and traffic free!
Excelente, una de mis caminos favoritos que como todavía no lo conozco personalmente lo recorro a través de estos videos con una música que invita a viajar. Un verdadero trabajo de calidad. Saludos de Argentina!
Thanks again for the ride! I love SoCal... Gotta get back someday!
Thanks for dropping by once again! Hopefully I'll be able to release more PCH videos soon; currently working on the northbound ride along I-405 over Sepulveda Pass. Should be out in a week or so.
FreewayBrent Looking forward to it!
Breathtaking is a word I would use to describe this video. Very well done. Loved the music choice too.
Thanks, man! Was hoping the song choice would complement the footage...seems to have gotten the responses I was hoping for.
The road signs on the screen is a genius idea.
Yeah...I feel that the signs add a little bit of authenticity to the overall viewing experience of the video, and are good navigational aids in case my viewers actually see the road for themselves one day. Thanks for dropping by and commenting!
Love the route and the song. The song reminds me of some RPG (video games) I used to play a decade ago lol.
Haha....I didn't think about that until now.
Breathtaking ! And the music is wonderful.
Did I not ever respond to your comment? If not, I'm sorry. Been very busy with work...with that being said, glad you enjoyed watching! i loved the video. Also may be next time, you could have kept the camera pointing the shore and the see... that might be even more beautiful..

Cheers!

Do it.

GoJo Geoff and Bruce McAbee, have both done videos of the the Great Ocean Road and to a great job! In my opinion, both these routes are similar take away the semi arid environment in this case.
Always nice and warm in California.
+SarahUK : Usually, it's warm. :-) It was actually raining and a bit on the cool side this past weekend, but it'll be back to typical California warmth and sunshine by the latter half of this week. Thanks for watching!
I will be taking this drive in September
Nice! First time visiting?
A very cool drive
Dreamy! Awesome!
Wish we had roads like this in the UK so must come to states and drive pch
Robert Romeril : It is indeed a fantastic drive. Want to switch places for a few months? lol. I've been dying to visit London and other parts of the UK. Hopefully within the next few years.
I love PCH, Malibu! 💕 😇😎💕
Google Streetview vehicles are Priuses, but they use high mount camera on a "tripod" like setup:

Hint, hint ;)

Anyway, thanks once again for dropping by; much appreciated when I see people leaving comments and "liking" the video!
This was a great video Brent i wonder what name of video camera ??? Appreciated very much >>>>
Nice music in this video
Just another reason why Los Angeles and the surrounding area is the best place on Earth.
I could just pull off the road and stay there forever 😁
I'm going next month so excited
Cheers.
Love it
+G. Reid : Thank you. :-) I could go for some Southern California warmth and sunshine, right about now.
FreewayBrent
G. Reid you should see it when the traffic is horrible
Awesomeness!
Thank you! I invite you to check out my newest video, showcasing the Auckland Harbour Bridge and Northern Motorway in Auckland, New Zealand. Cheers!
Some of those corners were making me sweat! I wouldn’t want to drive this at night.
I did the PCH drive and it was great.
Cool, man. Hope this video brought back some great memories for you!
Grid 2 track ^^ I love it!
5:15 I got pulled over driving to work for speeding lol ...never saw the officer of the law in that motorcycle haha
Beautiful drive!
Thanks man! For some odd reason, RUclips wouldn't allow me to respond to your specific comment until this past week. Glad you enjoyed! Hopefully you've been able to enjoy my Australia series of videos this year (5 videos now, working on #6 for release later this month).
I like it!
Glad you enjoyed the ride!
Awesome!!
+Kerley Moh : Glad you enjoyed! I'm currently in Australia, recording freeways and scenic roads in Sydney, Melbourne and points in between.
Nice music. Very relaxing. I have anxiety driving so watching this was nice.
Fantastic video. What is the model of dashboard camera?Zdzichu from Poland
+zdzichu1966 : Hey there. Thanks! I actually recorded this with a 3rd generation Cisco Flip Ultra camcorder, and mounted it to a sturdy tripod that I situated on the passenger floor in my car.
Yes thank you, I look forward to see your videos from Australia. Did you visit Mooloolaba in Queensland by the way?
VERY thin roads unlike the highways in Ontario like 401 and 407 which are very very spaciou. What camera are u using?
