Dave your doing so well on the hen house it will all fall into place,😊hope to see more of Sophia mum and Sophia I won't like to wash daves clothes 😊messy pup😊
I vote you need the cement for the posts, because the wine barrel is heavy. I think you will need to let it set solid for a few days. I also think that maybe large eye hole screws into posts for a stable rope? You also which I'm sure you have thought through, need good ventilation in the coop to protect chicken from their smells. I'm so curious how you are going to clear out the barrell and construct it! What a fun project! Nice digging in your gorgeous soil today! 🎉
Dave I'm loving the daily volgs. Sorry i can't advise you about the cement or the rope knot Your doing a great job on the plastering keep up the good work
I t9tally understand why you are using those beautiful old wine barrels for the chicken coups but I still cannot believe you are cutting up those gorgeous barrels for chickens! Not that I don't like chickensb. Those would be worth a fortune outside of Portugal. If I cut them up I would make them into some type of storage thing for myself with a door or cut them in half with support to hold them together for shelves. What a conversation piece that would be. Hate to think the barrels will sit outside in the weather getting ruined. Just my opinion but I love those barrels. They are so cool!❤
I think the big one could be a brilliant sauna or storage room perhaps. I know what you mean about there value outside of Portugal but I've been offered quite a few for free over here it seems people prefer the space nowadays and use stainless steel ones 🤗🤗🤗
I love this creative idea of using an old wine barrel for your chicken coop.🐣 I don''t quite get your vision with the nautical ropes. If the barrel's meant to be resting on the ropes like in a hammock, will that be stable enough for the chickens to feel comfortable and want to lay eggs? & I do think you'll need to use concrete to set your posts. Chocolate cake (just like soft, fertile soil) is wonderful stuff, but it's not the best construction material for long-term structural support.
Love your videos but did you considered that chickens Could all die with the intense wine smell? Even if you loose a lot of time Washing the barrel doubt you can get ride of years and years of hundred of litters of wine inside the oak wood. Think of it.
Hmm I haven't considered that it doesnt smell of wine just of wood the wine evaporated a longggg time ago haha I will wash sand and retain though I think first. I will research it though and it will get lots of ventilation 🤗🤗🤗

Thanks so much and yes I agree concrete for the support 😁😁😁
Hi, on other homesteads videos I have seen, the part of the wood below the ground is seared by fire to stop it rotting. Love your vids x
Yeah that helps massively I need to do that to mine 😁😁😁

Thankyou todays one will be online in about 10 minutes. we had a bit of a disaster haha
How are you planing on cleaning the chicken coop ,whit that a small opening ?
Big door on the back and making it have a flat level bottom .... If that makes sense haha
Good work😅
Thanks so much 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗

Have you considered how you will gain access to the inside to clean?
Im going to put a big door on the back so i can sweep it.

Thankyou. Yes sort of a hammock idea but maybe I'll make a platform now I'm undecided ha 😀
Three weeks to Christmas Dave.. please finish the house.. ❤❤
Thanks the plan lots of boring plastering and then painting 🎨
❤❤❤❤❤❤
🤗🤗😥😥
To far away from the house, to close to the neigborh.
No concrete, just use the soil. Drille a hole trouh the pole and use a rope with knope.
i think the soil may be too weak its a lot of clay
WOT!! in again lol
2 in a row 🤗🤗🤗🤗
Maybe use some plastic buckets to cement the posts in rather than pouring cement directly into that soil.
I'll do some research and see if I can use some sort of plastic as a barrier perhaps thankyou 😀
How many chickens do you plan on having anyways ?
Depends on the final size but maybe 3-6 dependant on how it turns out 🤗
I think you should use the cement
Thankyou for the tip i will do!!!
You definitely needs cement to hold that wine bottle
thankyou i will use some cement as i think the weight will be quite heavy
Pity to use those beautiful barrels on a coop. It'll be great, tho im not sure how easy it'll be to clean,
Thankyou, I'm planning on a large door at the back and a flat bottom to make it easy to clean so hopefully it should be okay 🐱👍
Do a lean mix, Google it
Thankyou will google it now!!!
noice!
Thanks bud 😁
