Simple clear advice from a real expert. Interesting to see looking back at 'Best of Pikelines' the recommendation by some well known pike anglers (eg Vic Bellars) was 8lb BS wire for traces - some things have changed for the better!
On the fish again Phil 🐊good to see you wearing a life vest. I'm struggling at the mo, been out a few times myself & blanked everytime, going this weekend, so fingers crossed 🤞
Nice film Phil. The only thing that was missing was the mention of long reach side cutters when you showed your unhooking tools. They are probably the most important item in a pike anglers armoury to cut out hooks from a deep hooked fish or in nets etc. for pike welfare.
Hi Ian, Well spotted, I do also carry side cutters. If anyone would like a more detailed video on handling/unhooking pike we filmed this short video. 🐊 ruclips.net/video/o-pyFH-Zpj0/видео.html Good luck with your fishing Phil,
Why do you use a fixed weight instead of a free running weight thought it was all about no resistant what if your weight was in weed is this inly used in swallow water
Hi Ben, I use both to be honest. If I need heavier weights, maybe for fishing deep fast glowing rivers I use a running lead below the float to reduce resistance. But I feel when I use small weights maybe 20 gram or less they offer so little resistance especially when a pike it piking up a bait they weighs perhaps 4-10oz it makes no difference to my presentation. I've added a link to another video showing my set up for faster flowing rivers ⬇️ ruclips.net/video/FqM8ETKdDN8/видео.html Regards Phil,

Thank you 😊
Pike fishing has definitely progressed in the right direction. We remember Vic Bella's from the Marvic tackle days 👌
It's the most wonderful time of the year. 🐊👌
It sure is 👌

Thank you Rich, always wear my life jacket 👍. Keep at it, you might be one bite away from a giant 🤞🐳

Phil
Another great video👍 agree with you on barbless
Thank you, it makes unhooking the pike, your net and if you're really unlucky your finger so much easier if you use semi-barbed 💪

Great stuff
Thank you 😊
Where u getting them lampreys from thought there were none about this year?
The certainly seem rare and special things this year! It's worth checking your local AD shop as I know there are a few about now 👌
Incredible price those rods, £39!!
Great rods, especially at that price point. The 12ft deadbait rods are equally as nice too 👌
