This won #Pentatonix their third Grammy, in the category Best Country Duo/Group Performance. For obvious reasons, that Grammy was shared with Dolly Parton - it was the first time she won a Grammy for "Jolene," which I find astonishing. Pentatonix says that their collaboration with Dolly is still the most enjoyable collaboration they've ever done. They were all starry-eyed, expecting that they would simply be supplying the harmony for #DollyParton, and she was very down to earth, treated them as equals, and insisted that Scott take the solo on one of the verses. You'd never know it from looking at her, but Dolly was 70 years old when they recorded this!
The story is that Dolly insisted on PTX taking a verse. And they did win a Grammy for it. Mitch has always loved changing his look. As someone mentioned, Scott shaved it for him on a Superfruit episode, so you can watch it. He didn’t do many videos bald but there are a few. Definitely 10/10
He'd got fed up with his hair - repetitions of coloring and perming (in a vain effort to get it to lie flat and lank) had destroyed the texture. So he had Scott shave it for the amusement of the Superfruit fans.
Its so kind how Dolly insisted they take a verse. What a beautiful performance, and well worthy of the Grammy they all earned for it. Mitch wasn't bald for long, but you can see him bald in one of the 2 Superfruit videos for "Bad For Us" and in the Pentatonix video of "Perfume Medley" among other things. And of course, there is the Superfruit vlog episode with Scott shaving it for him. I think it might have been his very Mitchy way of more easily growing out his hair after he was done wearing the fringe.
When Dolly Parton was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Face, she performed Jolene with a whole array of rock stars. It is amazing to listen to. One of the most interesting parts is that of course everyone instinctively takes the melody. Dolly drops into a perfect harmony for each voice as they sing the verses. Totally worth hearing! I love this video. I am always amused at the end when Dolly is trying to high-five Scott, he misses it, because he is slightly in awe of singing with Dolly. Parton. #DollyParton #Pentatonix
Apparently Dolly took a shine to Avi for his bass that sounded so much like the upright basses her regular back-up bands use. She appreciated that he was able to do it with just his voice. And when asked years later who his favorite celebrity was that he'd ever met, Avi quickly answered "Dolly Parton", because she was one of the sweetest, most genuine, generous and incredibly talented people he'd ever met.
Great reaction as Always. Dolly had written and recorded this song decades earlier ( She wrote Jolene the same day in 1973 she wrote “ I Will Always Love You” and had never won a Grammy for Jolene. This won duet of the year in the Country category for PTX and Dolly. ( I believe won award in 2017 for the 2016 release) As others have said, the arrangement by Pentatonix had Dolly singing lead on all verses, but she insisted they take a verse. Imagine how crazy it would have been to be PTX recording Jolene and having Dolly Parton sing backup to you on that last verse. It is a great a cappella country arrangement and it shows how well Dolly sings as well as how gracious she is. PTX have said she was very kind and they loved working with her
Pentatonix is truly genre-less which may be why they don’t get airplay. They aren’t a pop group because they won a Grammy for arranging a medley of Daft Punk EDM songs. They aren’t an EDM group because their second Grammy was from arranging Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy a classical tune from The Nutcracker by Tchaikovsky. They aren’t a classical group because they won their third Grammy with country icon Dolly Parton singing a remake of Jolene a country song. They are a jack of all genres (trades) and they are truly Masters of all of it.

Definitely 10/10
The only video I can think of off-hand with a bald Mitch is Perfume medley, but there are probably a few others.
@@Badger77722 that’s the one I was thinking of too. He does wear a cap/beanie in some while it’s growing back in

Mitch and Scott shaved his hair for a Superfruit episode lol. Love this song, well deserved Grammy award winner!
They’ve all mentioned just how sweet Dolly was to them. They were quite happy just to back her but she insisted they take a verse.

They got a Grammy for this

You can't go wrong with ptx and Dolly! I recommend Change on the Rise by Avi Kaplan! Have a great one, cheers!
Love Avi's base in this!
