    Zoot Sims, Serge Chaloff, Herbie Steward and Stan Getz, in that order, in 1947, in the Second Herd. Woody doing the clarinet bit.

    Really doing this classic number justice! Jimmy Guiffre, Woody Herman, Shorty Rogers, and the rest like Terry Gibbs were incredible.

    Watching the conductor was a show in itself. Four Brothers is a highly charged energetic piece, it should be played (and conducted) that way. Great interpretation of Woody's masterpiece. Thanks!

    Well done! Kudos for taking on a great Woody Herman chart - one of the best big band charts there is. Take the tempo down about 5-10% and it will be even better. Comes across a bit rushed. Still though, very nice.

      JEEP JOCKEY .....NO. The Four Brothers sound is specifically 3 Tenors and 1 Baritone. Nothing else. Period.

      @@rkomada88 lol the title is not 3 tenors and 1bari brothers. Yes that is the instrumentation of the woody, who gives a rats @ss what combo of saxes there is. This chart is pretty jiving.

    • @rkomada88
      @rkomada88 3 года назад

      Bustradore VI ......jazz history is what it is, I don't make the history behind the piece. Also, the "4 brothers sound" was an extremely important specific instrumentation that remained in all of Herman's bands after this period, and heavily influenced people like Miles Davis and Oliver Nelson. You want to tell me those musicians are not important? I'm not backing down from my position.

    • @Bustradore
      @Bustradore 3 года назад +2

      @@rkomada88 You do not have to back down from any position. I just dont give a rats @ss what combo of saxes there are, the cats are jiving, and the chart is called four brothers not 3 tenor and a bari brother. I agree that 3 tenors and a bari is the traditional structure. Jazz is so cool that they can smash traditions. Miles smashed traditions right before he died, he played some dank smooth jazz and beeches brew. Very innovative stuff, thats what is fresh and dope.n
