I’m seriously thinking about towing my 2018 GSXR 1000R down to South Carolina for that Penta Carbon, air filter, and dyno tune/ ecu flash from the Legend himself 🙋🏾♂️
I’ve always been curious, have you ever dyno’d a bike with a ported head compared to a stock head? I understand how it’ll increase efficiency but I’ve always been wondering if it would make a noticeable power difference?
Austin Goodsell ported heads use more aggressive cams and stiffer valve springs (else there is no point in porting anyway) depending on the builder/tuner a 20-25hp increase is possible. could be more, or less.. different from motor to motor.
@@sayfmuzik1787 Not true. A good portion of the power in a head is generated via porting work above and below the valve. Cleaning up a head (port matching) with excellent valve work will net gains across the board. Porting does NOT require I cam change to see a substantial gain. A properly sized cam will net better numbers than port work alone with stock cams but to say porting alone won't generate a power increase is completely incorrect. Lastly, valvesprings are only required when running a larger cam or raising the rev limit substantially, not required in any way if one is simply porting the head
