I didn't know an angle of 0.10 would be the highest import to refacet.
I did have the trial of remesh and it has ran out. I could never get good results and all my mesh didn't seem to look right and that was with the edges selected for sharps. Only tried a few times and gave up with it but it seemed to work okay in your example lol.
My mesh must be a mess.
Using Fluent Materializer now to texture it

Yeah It's not super useful with hard surface stuff and it hates fillets but like in the example I gave I used it to make a rough base mesh, and I lost the form, but I've been using plasticity to create base meshes to move into sub d and sculpting, you lose some definition but that gun base mesh in the video I made in less than 20 minutes and to make a similar base mesh in blender would have taken longer as it would have involved a lot of Booleans and bridging and less precision, if you really need a quad based mesh and for it to be precise doing it by hand is always the best way.
I do like the workflow if moving from cad to sub d though it's kind of fun!

In saying all of that though quad remesher is an absolute God send for photo scans and Sculpts, that clean too frog from my post the other day was quadremesher doing all the work for me, one click wonder

@@takerefuge3d I know! That work flow worked. I had a member of the Plasticity group remesh my model using Moi and export to work with Substance. After all that though, I never warmed to it as a texturer.
This project needs to just get up and out and I can experiment more again ahhhh!
I think there is a gold mine awaiting if something can remesh a model like mine automatically without errors.
Would n-Gon Pro allow me to export n gons and make it more pliable for export without removing actual detail?

If you use the high poly button you won't lose any detail, you'll be able to uv the ngon based mesh by hand or automatically which is easier than tris and then you can export the high poly to substance.
The free version on Gumroad has all the functionality you'll need to do that, the pro version has extra features like easy vertex painting and detail control for the low poly as well as renaming conventions, I'm going to bed more but shoot me a DM on the discord and I can look at how I would tackle it.
