- In this video we take a look at the bird's nest coral Seriatopora. They are considered a beginner SPS coral though they still need very clean water and strong water flow for best success.

Birdsnest coral is one of my favorites. I have several colonies in my reef.
Great video i bought my first birdnest and its thriving. Its a yellow/white with green polps. It loves the current.
Yet another great, educational video. This is a good coral for beginners and my favorite is the ponape birdsnest.
Love birds nets corals and learned a lot from this video! Thank you Than!
Love these videos , mounting it sidways and helpful tips to think about. Most places just say high light high flow for everything lol or medium
Thanks for the info. Very interesting!
Great Info!
Dude your videos are awesome! Thanks for doing this!
Nice one man, I love Birdsnests :D
In my system this has been The hardest coral to keep and color up.
I picked up 2 colonies of pink birdsnest 6 months ago. Now one is Green with purple polyps. The other one turned brownish orange but is now pink again :D
thx for making theese vids and thumbs up from here!
Love your videos like always really enjoy them relaxing:)
Great vid. thank you.... Keep them coming
Keep up the good work! Nice vids!
Your the best!
good close up
When you showed me the float and container. My mind went to the frag flipped upside down in the cup with the floaty on top. Lol i think it could work well thou. Ive never gotten frags online only local so thats new also might be a nice way to bring a large frag of birdsnest home as i have a frag that resembles a small tree that i bought locally. Plastic bag got my home fine but the risk was def there.
Very informative video... Thank you. They sell superglue at the dollar store?! I'm going to clear out there stock when they open!
Hi i am getting the green birds nest (my first sps)and was hoping you could tell me the best area to place it thank you
Hi tidalgardens I purchased a think peach birds nest about a month ago and it's bleaching out at a fast rate, all my parameters are ok and I'm using sol lighting? I've moved it to the bottom but it doesn't look any better :(
Did you lower the waterflow for the video ?
I have a birds nest but after I exposed it to MH lights it lost color. I placed one under kessil lights and it seems they are getting color back. Any recommendations on bringing back the color?
Great vid, can u make one on how to correct/fix bleached birds nest. Oops!
Hey guys I have reef that I dismantled into a grow out tank. I'm currently housing a handfull of high end corals I want to keep them for atleast another year. I'm getting about a inch a month some more. I would love to give the mother colonies a home. The tank is 8 years old and has given me great joy over my 24 years in the saltwater hobby. I sold my last grow out in 2005 and was very happy. I moved during that time but kept a bunch of small frags. I haven't fragged for a long time and want to build the integrity of the corals that I'm growing. Any interest in a year or two would be a consideration as I'm going to upgrade once my house is paid for?
ive never had any sps corals, what are your recommendations as a first? i have good flow, and 20k leds. thanks
ps. my water parameters are constantly flawless according to my LFS
bird's nest and pocillopora are not as infuriating as other sps like acros
I have stopped using super glue for fragging only use miliput putty super glue then a cut a rolled ball of putty in half glue that to plug use a nail make a hole in putty push in I find super glue burns the bottom of hard coral frags and even kills them through capilery action skeletons av micro pours
hey Than, i bought some neon green birdsnest and placed them low in my tank. i just cant get them to show the neon green theyre just brown. i have a 90 watt led in my 40 gallon with 1800 gph of variable flow. how can i color 'em up?
thanks
Right now mine are colored up great under a lot of T5 light. Not sure you can get the same with LED.
Tidal Gardens Inc. thanks than!
You can easily get them to green up under LEDS, Do some 20% water changes weekly and make sure your nitrates are not too high, keep alk consistent also(auto doser)
Just got this for free a piece is broken what do I do just leave it or glue it to a rock but what part do I glue the broken bit
When I glue these to the rock, they bleach substantially. Is that normal?
hey, can you get the colouration back after bleaching?
It depends on what caused the bleaching to begin with, but there are three things worth considering: fixing any chemical issues, lower light, and feeding amino acids.
@@tidalgardens Hi thank you.
Are you the guy from TV ?
I have a kessil 150W 10K on my 6.5 gal nano. Is this sufficient?
sufficient to fry it.

well at least I won't go hungry
Pierre Hoezoo There's no need to be a smartass. You post a question about how to care for it and obiviously no else else bothered to help you out, including TG, and when someone answers you, you get to be a fuckwit about it.
@@ibizalover2000 jeeze dude
Hello can you make a vidéo on Galaxia ?
And thanks for all That informations It have help me a lot and It Will Do agan 😁👍
Im having trouble with my Pink birds nest. I don't know though. I put it in the tank and right away I put it halfway up in the tank. 4 days later it was looking lighter colored then when I got it (Bleaching)?, and the polyps weren't coming out. so I moved it to the sand. im colorblind so I don't know if it is bleaching or not. don't know if its white or pink. my paramiters are good so idk what to do. its been 2 days since I put it in the sand and the polyps are there but it doesn't look "fluffy". what to do?
its the sharp point coral
How did you make out? I just purchased a pink birds nest frag and put it about 2/3 the way up and it's lost its color. I also have a green birds nest and it's thriving at around the same height.
yeah it didn't do very well. I had some other problems and had to start the tank over. It was doing alright. but wasn't at its best. I just left it there. I don't think I had proper flow to it and it got algae on it. They are a pain in the ass. but really cool. I did start dosing it with phytoplankton. that seemed to help. I think the name of the product was phyto2. Its 2 bottles in a pack. and there live so it doesn't pollute the water column as much. Hope you succeed in your trials.
I have some birds nest. Purple and yellow
My ones bleaching & it's on the bottom & I only have led lights what's wrong with it ?
turn the intensity down some for a couple weeks, more is not always better...
ALso make sure your ALK is not too high, my birdnest starts to bleach if alk gets over 9.
I have one like this but its neon green whats it called?
Can ship to China?
Impossible the corals would die. Youd need to find a seller in China
I love your videos, but you voice puts me to sleep. Thank you for this info on Seriatopora. I've got a Seriatopora guttatus and it seems to love my nano tank with cheap TMC LED lights.
anemonie care
I mean thin not think stupid predicted text
One of the easiest corals to grow

+TheMiguel0205 some birds nests do not like much light at all. The yellow ones we have need to be in really low light or else they bleach out.
