why did I expect it to be so much more difficult than it actually is... heated bread = toast... im not ready to live on myself yet jesus christ.

Same lmao, I was tired of it being soaked with oil/butter and needed to find the correct way.
If you need better toasted then just put butter or margarine it will taste much more better make sure to not overload it the piece of bread will melt through the pan
OP should have said "Dry Toast" in the title. I do get why he didn’t use butter though; this is already an extremely complicated recipe to pull-off and adding the additional complexity would have probably turned those of us who are not professional chefs (or bakers) off.

Doing it with butter makes an especially tasty piece of toast if you don't burn it, but yes you don't have to.

Thanks. I keep telling my mom to get us a toaster but she tells me to just use the stove to toast the bread without even telling me how.

I hate to be pedantic but that bread is not toasted, it's caramelised. That's what McDonalds do to their buns. I bet it tastes great though, even better than toasted bread.

The advantage of making toast in a pan is that you can add olive oil to both sides before it cooks.
Or just use a wire coat hanger, save on dishes. 😊

If you are using an electric hob then increase the temperature, or increase the time length on each side. Mine came out very lightly toasted.
However doing the pan toasting method maintains the Doughiness of the bread with a crispy surface 😊👌
Using a toaster will toast the bread along with drying it out.
