watched your onimai video and randomly browsing your old videos. your video format is great and pretty much gigguk-level, your definitely deserve more views. for this video specifically your views seem a *bit* over exaggerated but the analysis is detailed and nuanced nonetheless. personally I feel like your name was a film that had outstanding never-before-seen animation quality that made it widely praised, but the plot quality etc isn't the greatest. (other aspects carried plot essentially)
... Um, there is no evidence that they remember each other (through pure mind power)at all when they're in their own bodies. That's why they leave the notes in their notebooks, in their phones, and on their faces and arms. I don't know where you found this "thread" theory, but I saw it purely as symbolism. Nothing more. Taki started wearing it incidentally (as he had no idea who Mitsuha was), as he even says "Someone must have given it to me, but I don't remember who". He said this with the name Mitsuha still on his mind (remember the notes which help retain memories) and the location he was then travelling to. Memories while being in their own bodies are extremely prone to being forgotten, just like our own dreams. There was nothing mentioned about the physical threads helping you remember. And I've never heard of that fan theory.
yeah, that's how I see it too I think the movie's fine up until the part where they forget each other, I find the end sorta disappointing I have a feeling that I am biased by being trans, though when I first saw it I thought "ha, wouldn't it be nice to swap with somebody, it'd be so much more fun" but cis people wouldn't have that
All right, now that I've fully watched the half hour video idk how your mental capacity could handle making (which you did a good job on), I personally enjoyed the movie, every bit of it. The plotholes are stretched out and the characters are as bland as bread but it still is a great movie for me either way. It's all based on how you interpret it and how well it can portray its message to the viewer. The bland main characters were meant to resemble the common public, always desiring something that the other has. This was shown when both characters decide pissing the other's lifestyle in exchange of their own with Taki being popular as Mitsuha and Mitsuha getting a date with Taki's coworker. The plot twist is something that I felt was necessary to show the real reason on why they started switching bodies in the first place and felt they gave enough background information to support it. They could make like an encyclopedia or a spin off to explain all this magic shit but I don't feel like it's necessary. The "Us" factor I do agree with because some things don't make SHIT sense but then again, a near two hour movie can't explain everything and I don't think it was as lazy as other movies when putting this factor into play *cough* EVERY CHRISTIAN MOVIE EVER *cough*. Overall I can see why you think the plot holes don't make sense and I respect that. But trust me, if you think this is dog shit, watch Fireworks. A video on that will probably be longer than the movie itself cause of how fucking awful the plot and structure of the movie compared to Your Name. But yeah, good review.
it's still not a whole lot to go off of, and it's just one scene from one perspective, and the mountain range and lake are the two biggest things in the picture, so i just said he sketched the mountain range and lake
I don't think there were 2 timelines for all those switches, rather Mitsuha's potential fates branch off sometime after the last switch. That means there's only one taki. That fixes the ending plothole
That's not how comets work. The impact crater would have spewed molten rock into the air and have it rain back down many miles away and kill thousands, not to mention the original lake level would be much much lower. Research the tunguska blast of 1905 and see what a comet can do for a frame of reference to destruction. Why doesnt he remember the Comet from 3years prior. Hell, I remember shoemaker-levi 9, hale bop and haley's comet. Why can't Taki remember that comet? Then you have the Garden of Words and Weathering with you crossover cameo characters with Your name.
@@uhhsophia6047 i checked the movie and theyre watergel explosives for construction. ill go ahead and say that thats enough of an explanation to suggest its reasonable to get the explosives, movie got the dub on me for that one :pensive:

Making a half hour long movie analysis and not mentioning the god tier songs which on their own merit make it a 10/10 is just sad. Man it must be hard to enjoy movies when your so focused on being a robot rather than a emotionally connecting with a piece of media that has a lot of hard hitting and impactful themes and ideas😑
"demo, look, you always do this, this over analytical nitpicky mcdicky bull malarky, why cant you just ignore these negative aspects youve detailed thus far and enjoy the good and memorable segments for what they are?" OH MY GOD. you are SO RIGHT. did you hear that? if you ignore the bad parts of shows, then they'll be GOOD. because then all you have left is the GOOD PARTS. just look on the bright side! how come no one else is doing this!? holy shit, literally every show in existence is a 10/10 now this is revolutionary! i'ma go rewatch your name right now, WHY HAVENT WE THOUGHT OF THIS BEFORE!? oh because im not a tool that's why. (i stole this from demo d but its one of my favorite parts of any video ever)

"The hell?"

The movie has ONE plot hole, that was brought up by someone else. Before that happened I thought Your Name was 10/10.
How come I didn't find this sooner?
7:27 I would have to check back on the movie to be sure but I'm like 90% certain Taki did sketch some shops and houses from the town too

I guess that he would've remembered the comet but didn't remember the name of it?
13:25 i forget his name but Mitsuah's friend is trained by his dad to use explosives
does his dad just like fucking lend him the explosives casually? lol
