Charles was around 16 in college when he ran away from home and went to Oxford and this was a grown woman. I'm not the biggest Charles advocate but this one might not be all his doing.
Wait wait wait. Charles was 16 and she was an adult. Yeah, doesn't matter what he did. She's a f****** predator. He was a child. And this childhood trauma is probably why Charles has become such a shit father since then. I now have zero sympathy for her.
I grew up loving prof x in the animated series but ever since I started reading comics a few years ago I frequently wonder…. What the hell is that guys deal?!
Charles pull out game is as weak as his hair folicles, but I will say that one great thing (about the recount being told from his and her perspectives) is that I'm sure we haven't been given the whole story. We are meant to think Charles just left her to have Brian on her own, but there's enough disconnect wirh the flood to think more went down and Brian isn't his. Although, I'm also sure that to account for comics time sliding and moving slower than reality, their Katrina is either not on a fixed date lined up with real events, or their hurricane that devastated Louisiana isn't necessarily Katrina in that universe. (Meteorologically, it would make sense that Storm, Thor and others who have manipulated weather patterns frequently result in Earth 616 having small and big hurricanes at different times to when we would, but certain outcomes reflect the outcomes.)
4:42 bro that’s not fair. You’re forgetting that every time that Legion showed up, he tried to screw with time in some sort of way as if he’s trying to prove that he could be a hero to his father instead of just going to him when he needs help. Legion deserves nothing.
To Charles's defense... The last time anyone around him was pregnant. i e. his mother. He had to kill his sister in the womb after she tried to murder him.
I just don't know Ernie. I don't feel like I know enough about this comic. I mean, yeah you went over the story, and the history, and gave detailed back info on all the characters and laid 90% of it out for us....but I just don't feel like I know enough about this comic to read it. 😉
Takes two to start it though. So unless she tricked him that she was on a pill or something it's on him as much as her to be dropping deposits instead of wrapping. That said, while he killed the mood with his reaction, he still so far hasn't been revealed to actually have insisted for her to do anything she should truly take issue with. It is ultimately understandable that some people have to at least take a moment to process what that will mean for their now and future to have a kid unplanned.
I can picture Charles possibly using his powers and forcing her to have an abortion, or somehow altering her memories after she lost the child in a miscarriage and the lost of her son triggering her repressed memories to break through the rouse Charles had made when he thought he was helping her.
I haven't read it yet -- is the hurricane actually named Katrina in the book? If not, then after a little while, Marvel's sliding timescale might take care of some timeline discrepancies. Thanks!
If I recall correctly the name of the hurricane is left for us to assume since it is set in Louisiana, but I figure they left it nameless because they aren't confirming the dates line up with actual Katrina between the real world and Earth 616. Heck, at one point of his origin Charles was in the Korean war with Cain Marko, but that origin no longer lines up, so Marvel takes more care to not match events one to one.
Just checked back. They don't name Katrina directly, she just said she hadn't slept in 17 years and "There was a hurricane. You might have heard." This is meant to give us the real world allusion to Katrina, but make the in-Marvel tie to a bad hurricane more abstract and able to shift with the times.
4:40 my friend I think you’re forgetting about a couple very important details with Legion. He didn’t know about the kid until he was an adult not because he abandoned him if it was because his mother kept him away from Charles and she knew she was pregnant when Charles left and she chose not to tell him then, the boy needs help with his mutation in it, and instead of going to him, the mother goes to Moira and makes her promise that she would never tell Charles. If you’re gonna talk about danger… It falls apart because we don’t know when she was born and we had to remember that not too long after the dark Phoenix Xavier left earth for years And if you wanna talk about Xandra, once again he was not told about it, and she was conceived after Lilandra had already divorced him. So would you say that Charles is a horrible father you can’t really say that genuinely without knowing the history. The women in Charles‘s life tend to manipulate and then when they don’t or can’t contain the situation, they come running the Charles and side step any responsibility. Now this new lady, it’s been 30 days and we don’t even know when they did it. It could’ve been like two days ago. I think you’re jumping on the Charles is a bastard bandwagon a little too easily Brother
Imagine if Charles and Sarah ddid have a child. Imagine if in some way, they're still alive. Now, imagine them, Legion, and Xandra Neramani meeting for the first time... I'd read that comic !
Not having sympathy for her…. Not feeling MaddiemPryor vibes. Two people make a baby, and sadly most of the time there is NO discussion on the possibility and consequences. Sarah had the option of having said child and having Charles take some legal and financial responsibility. From her intro, there seems to be something more nefarious and sinister about her. It’s also scary when losing a child makes someone ok with threatening other children. Are these powers natural or were they given/enhanced? And is she being manipulated?
We don't know. Who knows whether her new appearance and powers are natural or given/forced on her. If you have been keeping up with Mckay's X-men, you would know there is a group called "3K", that have been abducting normal regular humans and forcibly activating their normally dormant X-Genes
Maybe Charles asks her to have an abortion SPECIFICALLY because he's afraid that the child will be a mutant. Maybe he shows her his mutant powers and she is terrified. The fact that she thinks mutation is a disease is important. "People of the house below" "Tainting the blood of true humanity" I think they might be doing a Witchbreed storyline where the magic community believes that mutation comes from a dark power like C'thon or Mephisto.
It could be possible and she wants to kill the kids (probably every kid mutant) as Charles was responsible of the death of her first son because of being mutant
I'm guessing her hardcore anti-mutant line is due to the child with Charles not surviving due to some mutation. Charles, alone, fucking up doesn't quite explain the full anti-mutant hate to me. But we'll see.
She's also a little off from the get go, so I wouldn't be surprised if she's blaming him for something he didn't necessarily do/cause [this time at least].
Has Wolverine won a fight yet in these four issues? I know when you have a healing factor that means you get beat up &take a lot of punishment but my god Logan just gets his ass kicked every time shit pops off. You can't still be the best there is at what you do if you never win anything &I'm over what Marvel has been doing to Xavier the past decade. Trying their hardest to make him a villain while turning Magneto into the hero. But now there's another secret love interest &he got her pregnant, when did he find the time for all this...and if they make him that guy that asked Sarah to terminate would be so wrong. However it's in line with the way they've written Charles over the past decade, this comic isn't bad but it's definitely not very good
As an enthusiast of classic X-Men comics, and the work of Chris Claremont's X-Men run, let me say, I don't appreciate Charles Xavier and Cyclops's portrayal by X-Men story teams in the 2000's particularly during Krakoan era. Having said that, the Krakoan era stories were so disjointed at times it's difficult to say whether Xavier was the noble individual depicted in classic X-Men, or he has almost always, secretly been a pawn of the Mister Sinister personality, lurking in Xavier's subconscious. So, is Charles Xavier an "A-hole" by nature, a flawed well intentioned altruistist, a pawn of Mister Sinister, or all of the above... Thank you "A-hole" X-Men story teams who came along after Chris Claremont, and made Charles Xavier into an "A-hole", because you wanted to add "edge" to the stories (I say with mean spirited sarcasm). Screw you too Blerd, for not pointing out those details... when you know how Xavier's character, has been unceremoniously written in the 2000's. I'm not saying Marvel story teams don't have the right, to take characters in different directions... but they screwed Xavier over big time.. and you are reporting on your channel about Charles Xavier, like that's how, he has always been depicted. It's not.. you know it's not.. shame on you Blerd.. shame.
As usual, Marvel ruins everything just like DC Charles Xavier ruins ppl's lives? In Xavier, Stan Lee created a character that gave the mutants a purpose, a way to defeat anti-mutant hate by making them into heroes who save both mutant and human lives That strategy wins over humans and creates more tolerance It's hopeful It's smart Marvel ruined that? You mean the Charles from the early issues of xmen? The one that was in love with the underage Jean Grey? The one that created a team of child soldiers to promote his agenda? Could have just wiped her mind😂 or convinced her it was someone else's child😅

Maybe Charles not wanting to be a father ruined her happy future she had foresaw?
More Legion, I want to see hi heal fully and be his best version, David Haller and Franklin Richards are a couple of my favs

Something about the child being that young during Hurricane Katrina does not sound right. Either she had another or she hallucinated it.
Charles cannot be the one in the wrong for this. He was asking reasonable questions and it’s not his fault that his girl had a breeding kink

Cyclops is basically Charles son …. So Cyclops never had a chance not to be a F’Boi.
Or maybe he quickly discard Charles' teachings.
You might want to read Sentinels. It references Ellis and Graymalkin and will probably be in the crossover as well.
