They're not underrated by any means. You just haven't heard of them. They have a large following and do very well. Mainstream music news sources suck, stay away from them and welcome to a better genre!
I've seen Haken live once, but seeing this focusing solely on Ray's drumming... I'm freaking blown away. Holy crap man this guy is far beyond the next level. Thanks for sharing!
some might say they tipped the hat, but as a Brit i would say took the piss. they were doing everything ten years ago, Dream Theater and any 80s band you can name in their songs. one shot away from god level prog lol.😂
Same! We saw them at the Roundhouse in London in late 2019. Very poignant show considering! We saw them again earlier this year at Shepherd's Bush Empire which was an incredible show.
I saw these guys in LA a few weeks ago. I didn't know most of their songs then, but it was one of my all time favorite show experiences. I absolutely loved em
Thanks for posting the full set. 80% of what I hear is the drums. Is that how it sounded to people in the audience? I love the drumming of Hearne, but I'd be disappointed if I went to see Haken and all I could hear was him. Even just trying to appreciate this video for the phenomenal drumming, that's a dicey prospect because the audio/video are slightly out of sync. Even a 150ms delay on the audio is a problem when the instrument is percussion, where the sounds are created in a brief instant.
Diego was one of the pilars of the band's sound, and he had an amazing stage presence. I've seen Haken live a couple of times and he was always interacting with the crowd while playing (the keytar solo on 1985 became almost iconic in their live shows)
This band is ridiculously so underrated 😮!!!!
Not really. Respected amongst the greats. Devin Townsend, Dream Theater, etc.
Mere mortals cannot compute this greatness unfortunately...

That drummer is a beast!
Drummer alone worth price of admission
@rayhearnesforpresident!

When I saw them live I couldn't help but watch him during the long Architect intro, I don't normally focus on the drums but I had to for that part.

That Nil By Mouth is like the new Dance Of Eternity. Utter insanity.
These guys are so f'ing tight! I love how ALL of them contribute to vocals. Especially the drummer. Wow!
Total geniuses, best prog band of all time.
0:52 Prosthetic
6:53 Invasion

You dropped this king 👑
You're a God
Wow carousel outro, I definitely thought they'd keep crystalized.
Ray is such an amazing drummer!
Saw these guys touring with Devin Townsend right before the world shut down in early 2020. AMAZING show.
Same here. Don’t listen to them at all but they were fantastic then and still seem like it now!

Haken is the truth! Ray is just too good, impresses me every single time!
Love this band. Never heard them cover Yes before. What a perfect band to do that.
The intro of Carousel gives me chills every time

Thanks for this mate! Great footage and show - been looking for a clear video of Ray playing through NBM for years now and this is amazing.
Fantastic performance!! I see the Benny Greb influence in the drummer.
Drummer is phenomenal here
This is Real band ...great
Excellent!!!
Thank you for sharing this. :)
And thank you Haken, you are beautiful.
Nightingale is really something else. I'm just blown away by it 😍
Saw them open for symphony x they kicked ass
Me too! Rad show!!!
i just knew this band..and WOW!!! I really love your music
I was there. It was great!
17:57 I guess Ray uses nylon tip sticks cause something flew.
Great video!
Invasion's drumming is the most insane thing ever composed wtf

i seen them in glasgow, heard the full thing. not sure about outdoor sorry. ill find out next month,
interesting Ray changes the part at 10:07 to have less double kicks
Haken is prog on his best! Sadly, Deigo left and took all the good samples with him...
True ahha I noticed that.

Kinda unfair, it's their first tour with Pete and they're gunna be figuring out the best approach to everything still.
it's like Kevin Moore leaving Dream Theater...
@@t3hgir you're right, they were both total assholes too
Ross scored himself those sick boots
Songs from Virus: (wait almost 2 years to be played live)
Nightingale: you guys are getting waiting?
31:49 wtf is that sound lol
A really low end, heavy sawtooth synth patch.
Truly EPIC!
Drums are too prominent. I can’t hear the guitars properly :(
Weird AL Yancovic on vocals
Only one bass drum needed 😉
man charlie and rich are so stiff on stage lol
INVASION IS A MASTER PIECE OH YEAHH
Was the keyboardist playing anything he looked so bored 💀
Maybe why Diego hated vector and virus.
