      Thank you. In my opinion, best car to own if you can fix things yourself. If you can’t, it’s probably your worst nightmare.

    I had the same issue as you! Replaced the resistor and still didn’t work I ended up having to buy a new blower motor as well. Thanks for the video!

      Thanks for watching. I ended up keeping the new resister as well. Already had it in hand. :)

    I’m having this issue now. Thanks for the video, I’m going to order both parts and change them out to save time.

      Yeah, might as well. Most people seem to have issues with the Blower, not the resistor. But while you in there, might as well do both.

      these blowers are built to fail.... they simply need couple oil drops to lubricate shaft spinning inside the cheap sleeve bearing. Do both top & bottom side with engine oil but NOT with WD40 (evaporates)!!!👍🏻

      I changed all the filters. Check out my other video for the carbon and air filter changes. My fan was 14 years old so I guess we got our money worth

      @@Turbo_Snail my fan went bad in a hurry at 5yr old.
      I noticed it was hard to spin when I got fan exposed while dealing with main AGM up front.
      I simply oiled my fan because it was not making hissing noise reported by Benz owners in forum.
      The maintenance of German cars has to be managed precisely to prevent the many failures they are designed to produce. 😂

    I had the same issue on my 2006 S500. I changed the capacitor, not the issue. Was about to change the blower motor, but decided to test it first, good thinking on my part because it was in a perfect working order. So the next thing I checked was a right SAM under the hood where the blower fuse resides, and I noticed that the fuse was completely melted into the module itself, making it impossible to remove. The front of the SAM where the fuse is melted. I decided to replace the fuse, and had to use pliers to yank it out. After I removed the fuse the car won’t start. Holy crap.

    • @Turbo_Snail
      @Turbo_Snail  5 лет назад

      Oh man. What a pickle. What are the chances you broke a wire from the fuse box when you yanked the other one out? I would run a voltmeter and see if you have electricity.

    • @trevorconner2260
      @trevorconner2260 5 лет назад

      Well, there is a chance that the SAM on the right hand side is bad. But, I don’t know how to do that. Anything mechanical, no problem, but electrical problems are out of my scope of expertise.

      Oh man, you gotta do some more research. Check the mb forums. There are a lot of knowledgeable people there. I’m scared touching electrical stuff so I’m no help to you. I wish you best of luck. I hope you’re able to fix it on the cheap.

      Just to give you an update. I found someone who specializes in foreign cars with electrical issues. After some digging around he found the problem. The ECM was not grounded, so he fixed it, and was done in 30 minutes. He scanned the entire system and gave the car a clean bill of health. What a relief.

    Having problems with the 40amp fuse connecting, can I by-pass the fuse box with a inline fuse for the blower, if so how,

    • @Turbo_Snail
      @Turbo_Snail  Год назад

      I would not dare to bypass the fuse. If the fuse keeps blowing you have a different issue. Keep in mind that Mercedes decided to use "biologisch abbaubares isolierung". Yeah, so the insulation will just disintegrate over time and create a short.

    Thank you turbo snail, extremely informative, great DYI video! When you completed this repair, did you have to reset any program or codes? Is a MB star tool/scanner required? Thanks again for taking the time to post this video and hopefully answer my inquiry.

    • @Turbo_Snail
      @Turbo_Snail  5 лет назад +1

      Thank you. Nothing had to be reset. I don’t have a scanner or a star tool for this purpose. Just popped the part in and it worked. I hope yours goes in just as easy.

    Hi Turbo my MB is an S430, and my AC Blower isn't blowing. I've replaced the blower, the regulator (bought online, also got a cheap set from Budget-U-Pull-It JY that didn't work either). Reset the computer as per another site after replacing the blower. Replaced fuses 33, 4, and 7 as different websites were conflicting - I had extras already so it was no issue. Still nothing - blower isn't blowing.
    Any ideas? Incidentally I'm up in Clermont, so howdy Central Florida buddy! Hopefully you still get notifications from this post.

      You’ve done everything I could think of. Not sure what could be the culprit. Can you connect the motor directly to a power source to see if it works. I’ve heard of bad regulators out of the box. Maybe it’s worth trying just one more. I’m not sure if I still have my old one which I could give you to try. I won’t be Back however for a couple more weeks.

      @@Turbo_Snail The problem for me turned out to be the Red/Yellow wire at the fusebox was fried. It was corroded at the juncture with the black plastic piece connecting both red/yellow wires AND both ends over an inch long on both sides of that plastic piece were fried.
      I'm not an electrician, in fact I'm barely a driveway mechanic, but what we did was just cut the wire above each of the fried parts, stripped the wires on both ends, and wrapped them together(just to see if I was on to something) then covered in electrical tape. Wouldn't you know it, it worked. The fan came on immediately when turning the key. Problem solved - now just need to wrap the connected copper wires better than twist and tape.

      Man, I’m glad you found it!!! That is awesome.
      Hey, I’m not a mechanic either but not forking over $1, 2 or 3 grand for a repair makes me get under the car and dirty anytime.
