I ran a public pure vanilla server from April 2020 to June 2022 and my god, what a pain it was. While there were no extreme cases of exploits causing dupes there was crazy lag most of the time, unnecessarily huge farms that put the server to a standstill, plugins randomly breaking for weeks at a time with no solutions, support teams with the response time of a 1980s computer running Windows 11, toxic players who just would not understand what a ban meant, spawn being blown up weekly yet no one wanting to protect it because “pure vanilla”, a previously reliable admin who filled another admins base with nsfw npcs, a mod who turned out to be a homophobe, my manager quitting due to personal circumstances and my head admin having to leave for financial issues, endlessly long tickets between staff and players, a heated politics argument within the staff, and a constant war between staff who wanted to optimise the server to stop it falling apart against staff who wanted all their insanely technical farms to work. The server was like a cluster of boulders held together with a single thickness of spider web and the costs were ever growing thanks to increasingly laggy updates and the downfall of the £. We are now launching a purely modded server as I have had enough.

the reputation system seems shit. feels like you can just have 15 friend or a couple friend and some alt account give -1 rep to everybody and get everyone's coordinate
I'm curious though with regards to duplication glitches, would it be possible to simply prevent players dropping items at spawn or to alter the rules regarding who can pick up a dropped item? (Such as only allowing the player who dropped it to do so)
Yeah, imagine what could happen if people were able to exploit various vulnerabilities in servers... They could even make YT channels out of doing it with their friends!
I have private SMP for my friends and it was completely destroyed by an exploit tommorow. Somebody logged in as me but I reconnected again. I instantly connected to the server and found out that our main base just exploded. The biggest luck that I ever had is that I backuped the world 5mins ago.

(edit) and to add to this, i was also a bug tester for a few server networks and it really helps with finding exploits like this. bug tester, beta tester, and exploit tester teams are sooooo important, especially for semi-anarchy servers like that smp of yours.
Can you remove the cords on tab screen? i joined 3 hours ago, i have 0 chat messages and been dead almosts 50 times, each time i leave spawn campers rush me and kill me, my rep is really low cause people do the minus rep thing and my cords are show all the time.
Your server is a troll when people can abuse the system.
Being a several time Minecraft server/owner this is the true hell of owning a server
Mister. What plugin do u use to replace the blocks at spawn if they're broken. Like if little Timmy mines a block at the spawn is there an plugin to have it replaced instantly
Checked out your server, its pretty fun!
Off topic slightly but what are the specs of your server? How do you afford a server so large? What service do you use?
Servers deserve to be exploited that they may cope harder and fix the issues, or quit.
I want to make my own minecraft server and I want to know, what plug-ins do you use?
Still funny that someone that helps duper trooper gets annoyed by duping. Love the vids still lol. And ya damn right. We love exploits
the reputation system seems shit. feels like you can just have 15 friend or a couple friend and some alt account give -1 rep to everybody and get everyone's coordinate
I'm curious though with regards to duplication glitches, would it be possible to simply prevent players dropping items at spawn or to alter the rules regarding who can pick up a dropped item? (Such as only allowing the player who dropped it to do so)
LOVE ur vids I subbed and hit the bell and I am satisfied now :)
Oh no that screenshot wasn't the only one barrier placed 😗
There were more , too bad it was in season 1
Dude caught us lacking with sub button
Always love to see a new misterepic video!
LMAOOETEYHTIYETU HE NEVER FOUND OUT ABOUT AMONGUS REP
Yeah, imagine what could happen if people were able to exploit various vulnerabilities in servers... They could even make YT channels out of doing it with their friends!
finally in a themisterepic video
Shame I had quit before the menu item exploit got fixed. I would have gotten barrier blocks all around my base to protect it from griefing.
Dude you should definitely make a video on how programmer art needs fixing, like new textures bleeding into old ones
Lmfao yea that end portal made a really fun party
"9/11 Economy Crash" is a savage name for a shulker box.
Lots of love bro
I remember counting how many times your server went down. Running a minecraft server isn't easy and to make sure that it runs smoothly is a challenge.
MisterEpic is starting to upload content like hellfire
I’ll never understand why people call some items „illegal“ it’s an item in a game, an useable item
Really gives some insight on being a server owner
I have private SMP for my friends and it was completely destroyed by an exploit tommorow. Somebody logged in as me but I reconnected again. Then it happened again and I was no able to connect to the server for like 2mins. Then my sister playing on the server heard a big explosion. I instantly connected to the server and found out that our main base just exploded. The biggest luck that I ever had is that I backuped the world 5mins ago.
