Here is almost everything I've used to transform this house so far! I do make a small commission if you purchase these items from amazon using my link (:

Lexi, the reason why your channel grew the way it did the last year is because you are so LIKEABLE. At the end of the day, people wanna watch people who seem genuine and who could be your friend. That’s you and Dustin.
Oh my goodness, thank you so much! That is the biggest compliment and I truly appreciate it! (:
🥺 thank you so much for the kind words!
I totally agree. You just want to be part of their journey and cheer them on.
Truth
Absolutely agree! I just love her. They seem like such sweet and down to earth people. I've always wanted a fixer upper home as well and she's been an inspiration!
This is incredible!! Super inspiring!! I’m renting a house for now 4 years and it’s sooo old and warn! My husband and I want to buy it and renovate it and watching you makes it seem possible! ❤️
Thank you!! Yes, you guys can totally do it!!!💕🥰
That would be awesome to purchase your rental and fix it up.
@@simplyclt I’m nervous because I’ve never done that but I really love the bones of the house I’m in!!
@@aimeecreative I think you should give it a try. Do the things you're comfortable with and hire a contractor/staff for everything you're not.
Sometimes you can renovate if the owner ok’s it.
It's amazing what you've done and you have every right to be proud of yourselves.
Dustin, thank you for your service!
Thank you so much Nancy!
Thank you for the support. 🙏🏼🤗
You use a key on the inside because it’s by a window and anyone can break the glass and turn the lock knob but not if a key is needed. It’s a security thing. Beautiful work! ❤️
Also, younger kids will learn how to unlock those doors and can sneak out without you knowing. Security is the priority.
I LOVE THE HOT MESS HOUSE! I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL YALLS NEXT HOT MESS VENTURE!!! The pillow and drape closet had me dead! LOL love it!
Haha thank you so much! Excited to see what NJ has in store for us and excited to bring you all along with us!😬
Absolutely love the white walls and black doors!!
I love the wall between the dogs lounge room and current dining room! Opens it up but keeps it separate
I wish I could!
Every room looks amazing!!! You did a wonderful job!!! I think the peel and stick tile looks great and is such a smart/cost effective idea!!!!
Thank you so much Lindsey!!
The key lock was for security purposes. You have a window right next to the locks on the inside, all anyone has to do is break the glass and reach in to unlock it. Put the key deadbolt back on.
That makes sense! It just worries me that it'd be a fire hazard!
@@LexiDIY you keep the key on a low platform, desk, small decorative table or hanging next or close to door. If there is smoke you would want to be low on hands and knees to avoud smoke.
@@LexiDIY I thought those were actually illegal to have because of fires.
It. Looks. So. Good! It’s come so dang far, I’m so proud of you! You’re absolutely crushing it! ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks baby I couldn’t do it without you!💕
@@LexiDIY yes you could; but I’m thankful I’m the one you chose to do it all with. ❤️
The iron burn! I remember! I came when you painted the hall doors, and front door, then I was sold watching the laundry room reno! You've done so much in such a little time. So proud of both of you! ❤️ (Brigette)
Thank you so much!!🥺🥰 you have really been here through it all and I so appreciate you!💕
Beautiful transformation so inspiring
Thank you so much!🥰
You know that bathroom redo was the most epic thing I've ever seen,, Lex, your amazing!!!
Thank you so much Kathy!!!
The peel and stick is BEAUTIFUL👍🏾
I love all the black doors. Good contrast.
Brilliant. I have been watching your progress on this house and it is abso great. Love it!
Cannot wait for you to get started on the Sight Unseen House. That is a Great buy! Congratulations, it is definitely some kind of house, Huge!. Good luck with the restoration and I look forward to watching that in the upcoming months.
Peace
Love all of yalls progress! The black doors and hardware really elevate the spaces. Also yess to the coming projects Ill be interested to see what yall do in the other bathroom & how much it costs 💲 congratulations on a year of truly educational entertainment 🧱
Thank you so much! Honestly I'm worried about the next bathroom but it will be interesting for sure!
And love your kitchen!!!! That flooring is amazing!
My favorites!! Such a joy to watch how far you’ve come with everything. Thank you Dustin for your service and Lexi for being such a light!
Y’all are an absolutely adorable couple!!!! Few things make me happier than a young couple achieving their goals especially making a house into their home!!! GREAT JOB!!! THANK YOU DUSTIN FOR YOUR SERVICE!
So proud of you, Lexi! It’s been entertaining to watch for sure!
Totally agree!! 😘😎
Thank you so much!🥰
Thank you!!!!
Watching this makes me want to buy a fixer upper house. Right now we’ve been living in an apartment for years now and we’ve out from it! But also I have a 5 year old and wonder if I could do a fixer upper with her or if I should just buy a house already done idk. But your house looks amazing you did a really good job!!
It was great seeing all your progress in one video! I read all the comments (I always learn something!) and it looks like everyone feels the same way I do! Impressed! We were 26 and 27 when we bought our first house in NJ. It was built circa 1700, and my hubby and I did so much work on that house! Your videos remind me of us, but sped up! You did all that work in a year???! Yeah, I’m impressed. I can also feel how hard it is to leave your first home after putting your heart into it. We were in ours longer than you will be, but it still hurt. Try to think of it as making the house better for future owners. I always feel we are caretakers for a little while, then pass the house on to a new family. The house we’re in now is newer (1750s) and we still have a lot to do! Somehow watching you gives me energy and inspiration. Thank you for that! Looking forward to your next projects. (And I LOVE your black doors!)
My husband and I can't wait to get our own house so we can do the same thing! RENOVATION!!
I have loved following all of the renovations in this house. 💗
Thank you so much Amaris!!
wow, you have absolutely smashed it, stunning! So nice to see the tour, been so excited for this. You literally rock, well done you! 👏🏻🥰
Thank you so much Hayley!!
It looks so good. I can't beleive it has been a year. I wish you could enjoy your work for a long time but also looking forward to you working on another house, utilizing all your new skills and ideas.
Thank you so much Michelle! Sad to say goodbye to the hot mess house but excited to see what the future brings!😊
What an absolutely wonderful renovation. It is awesome watching your pride describing you hard work!
You guys killed it!! Pretty amazing all the work you both did 🙌🏻. Congrats!!
Thank you so much!!!
Thank you so much for sharing this journey. I love your energy and your passion. It also warms my heart to see how supportive and proud Dustin is of you ❤️
Thank you so much!😊 he really is my biggest fan and I couldn’t do it without him!💕
I did the peel and stick tile in my laundry room and did the grout in the spacing. I love it for a temporary fix.
Honestly they hold up very well!!!😊
I thoroughly enjoyed your videos Lexi. Your amazing. Lots of love from Antigua and Barbuda!
Loved the video!! You did a fantastically- fabulous job. I have watched most of the transformation separately, but it was good to see the entire progress. 👍👏👌😊
Thank you so much Linda!!!💕💕💕
Amazing job!!
Thank you!!🥰
In case no one else has commented on this yet, keyed indoor deadbolts are typically installed on doors like yours that have sidelights or doors with a window in them.
At least each of my new homes did. Indoor keyed deadbolts prevent an intruder from knocking out the glass and reaching in to unlock the door. Indoor keys should be removed when locked. Thank you for the enjoyable walk through. You two have done a wonderful job. 😊
💙💙💙WOW!!!! VERY IMPRESSIVE I am super PROUD of you both!💙💙💙
Thank you so much Jen! ❤️
Lexi, love the pillow and drape closet! Of course you're an interior designer. You guys did an amazing job so far! 👏 👏
I’ve been watching you since before you closed. I love it love ❤️ all. The black doors most definitely I have them 😊
Thank you so much!!! 😍 yes love the black doors!!!
Your progress is both amazing and INSPIRING to see! Keep it up guys 😉!
Thank you so much Teresa!!!
Just amazing! You guys have some cojones to take on the hot mess house! It looks so beautiful & put together! Your bathroom is so good! Your decor is so nice as well, you have definitely gone so far with your home, you must be so proud of all your hard work!
Real quick I wanted to explain WHY people use the double side deadbolt!
The reason people use it is when there's a window within reach of the lock because all they have to do is break the glass and reach through and unlock the door! Your window meets that criteria and is more than likely WHY you have one! If you have a window but don't want the key inside just lower the lock and you won't have any problems!
Actually it's something the vast majority of people don't even think about when planning out their home! You need to look at every entrance including windows and see it through the eyes of a criminal and see what your weak spots are and how to fix it!
BuUuUuUt AnYwAyS XOXOXO from Florida cutiepatootie 🤗this turned out so beautiful!!!
Hit like before viewing. But i know you smashed it...
Ahhh thank you so much!😍
Great job - those peal n stick floors in laundry room and kitchen do still look very good! Love ur living room coach n chairs - ur master bath my fav - keep up great work 🥰🙏🏽
Wow, 1 year already!! You have done an amazing job.
This is beautiful! You guys are a rockstar team. You make it look attainable and are so inspiring. Also, I love your husbands sweatshirt at the end of the tour🤛
Thank you so much! That’s such a huge compliment!!!💕
Very elegant! As always I can hardly wait to see what you come up with next 🤗
Thank you so much Beth!
you two are just about the cutest!!! i love how kind and supportive you both are, seeing your hubby big up your work and determination brought a tear to my eye. thanks for sharing this bts content! it made me fall even more in love with your process. keep it up you two! :)
We are currently in the process of doing a complete remodel of our second house. We decided to go with black trim the trim that was there was a golden wood I think it’s oak. So we decided to sand all that down to get it back to the wood and get all the stain and polyurethane off that took forever over 400 pieces of trim having to hand sand lol decided to stain the black so we will have black trim throughout the house I think it’ll look good. I love watching your videos I’ve got quite a bit of inspiration from them
It's beautiful !!! you should be so proud ..you're amazing and very talented Great job
Wow, all of that in 1year!!!!!
Your both great, but Lexi, your one hell of a Supergirl!
Congratulations! It's been an enormous job and it looks wonderful.
Thank you so much! (:
Maybe someone has already commented this BUT in case they haven’t.. the door locking with a key on the inside like that is because it has glass next to it. Someone could break the glass and reach in and unlock the deadbolt and get in your house. I don’t blame you for changing it though, I HATE those 😂
About that wall with the studs, I would paint them white and hang some green plants between them. I like the open concept. If you are turning the dogs room into the dining room and you have a smaller table for like a breakfast nook where the table is now, then when you have gatherings you can have both tables set and people can see each other and talk. I think it would be fine. You could put somw horizontal boards in between the studs here and there too for knick knacks. Too bad you have to move after all that hard work. I'm thinking about painting one wall of my living room dark green.🍀😊
I would love to do something like that but I’m just worried about codes and such 😔 that would be so cute though!!!!
@@LexiDIY I think the only problem with code would be the electrical cords. You could either have them removed or cover them with some metal covers. I think it would look awesome.
I recommend a counterop refinishing kit! It is like epoxy paint and they come in so many colors! My kitchen renovation is coming up soon and can't wait!
With wooden bars. You can also hang a picture on it. You do like unusual things
Your home is precious! Hugs
It looks so good I have watched all of them
Thank you!!
Lexii I'm looking for a bed frame and foot board like the black one u showed. I've seen some on Amazon but the mixed reviews have me doubting which one to get. It's just for a guest room. Thanks Lexi 🥰 Love you're channel. I admire you and Dustin tons,! Can't wait to see all the renovations in the lake house!! ❤️
Love the living room!!!!
Congratulations!!
You guys have done a phenomenal job. I love it!
Thanks for uploading Lexi! I found you and watched all 160+ videos in like an hr soooo I start having withdrawals after about a week
Haha oh no I'm so sorry! I've been taking a bit of a break from posting shorts every day but I'm back to my normal schedule now! (:
@@LexiDIY health is wealth Lexi! We understand! We value you and appreciate you!
Your home is beautiful you both have done a great 👍🏽 job I am definitely living you guys master bedroom n bathroom ty for sharing
Love you guys. You did a great job! Idk if you could do this. Fixing the sound by adding bass to your audio or somehow soften the sound.
Hey hey hey…you forgot to feature the Garage!!! Awww man!! LOL!!
Rick the brick needs to sit behind you!
Great review of the year!!! Good job. Do you already know where you move next next?
I love all the projects you do. Beautiful! Hint: As a teacher for 27 years, I cringed each time you said, (Me and Dustin). When you are referring to yourself and another person, you always put the other person first (Dustin) and then to determine if you refer to yourself as (I or me) you ignore (Dustin) and say the sentence, for instance, (I) painted this room OR (me) painted this room. instead of (me and Dustin) it should be (Dustin and I). You are such an accomplished women (I wish I had seen your videos while I was still young) You are an inspiration!
I think you both did great.
Thank you Kathy!
Good job! Your front door had a deadbolt lock. Lol
Hot mess house is the best! You guys are great.
P.s I would have saved the iron burn too lol
Ahhh thank you so much!!! Right?! I feel like we should name it hahaha
Rick is my man hahaha 😅 love the video 😍
Cardinal may be seeing its reflection. Try A sticker or something on the outside of your window.
Loved the video
I love your style of decorating. I can't understand why people were complaining about the peel and stick tiles. They look great! I only have one question. Why aren't all the doors painted black? Is that part of future diy? Best of luck on your move. I can see why it's upsetting because of all your hard work. Oh, one unrelated question. How long did it take to grow your hair? It's gorgeous. 🤗🖖💕
Omg sooo great 👍
I love it
Thank you!!
@@LexiDIY your welcome. I am so glad you replied
Great job 👏🏻 🏡
Thank you!!
You are such a cute and funny couple!
Thank you so much!!! 🥰
> I bought my home in 2019 is a 1940 and still need a lot of work. I wish I can be handy like you
You totally got it! Just start with small projects and build your confidence 🥰
@@LexiDIY I tried I am a disaster 🙃 😊
Can you explain what you mean by, “we got told we are moving but we don’t know when”? What’s the back story on your reason for buying the house and the move? Did you always plan to fix the house and sell?
Amazing 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you!!
The reason for locking the door with a key from the inside is so a thief can’t break the glass and open the door.
Oh that’s smart! Does seem kind of like a fire hazard though 😅
Can’t forget Rick !! 😂
The reason you had a dual key deadbolt was because a robber could break that window and reach in and open a deadbolt manually if it just has a knob on the inside.
I wish I could buy y’all’s house when y’all have to move😫❤️
I’ll let ya know when it’s for sale! 😋
@@LexiDIY what area is it located in?
I love your house!!! Are the walls white or a creamy off white? Like the LR and kitchen?
First the key in the front door is so that if a person breaking the window to get it, couldn’t just unlock the deadbolt. They would be required to turn a key.
Beautiful
Thank you!!!
The wall behind the couch. Why not sandam, And put a nice finish on them. Maybe put a little wall at the bottom. Like a chair roll. You are very fond of black. They would look like bars. Maybe relocate your Electrical .
It'd love to do something like that it's just difficult with it being load bearing!
Can we get some shopping videos orrrrr 💁🏼♀️😂🤷🏼♀️ was this house meant to be your forever home or no, regardless you got a following so it was sooo worth the sweat & possible blood & tears 😂🤷🏼♀️
Lexi, I’ve been following you for ever and still can’t figure out where you got your dog portraits from. I have 3 dogs and would love to do the same thing! Where did you get them from?
Thank you so much Ana! I got them from Smallwood homes website! (: I highly recommend them!!
Would you paint trim on a 1960 home. I did the same pulled up dining room carpet and the bedroom and halls. House is painted. Will do kitchen wallpaper later. Back splash needs work now. But I noticed you painted trim. The casing are a maple color stain. Similar to yours. The house decor is colonial traditional ranch. It also had the basic hollow core doors matching the casings. I was thinking about replacing the doors or painting and putting some trim on door. Any thoughts?
I think if you feel the trim will look good and you want to paint it then absolutely! Also it’s for sure worth trying to paint one door and add trim before deciding which route to go that way you know if you like it! 😍
That lock was probably too prevent anyone from breaking the glass and just reaching in to open the door.
So real. WAIT! rick 😬 lol
Haha We love Rick!
It's all so beautiful. Why would you ever move after doing all that work?
Thank you! It’s not really our choice 🥺 my husband is in the Navy and he got orders out of state unexpectedly
Can you do this on 102 year old farmhouse???
Anything is possible (:
The locking the door from the inside could be because one of the Previous tenant that live there had dementia or Alzheimer’s one of my moms Friend’s her mother used to have to lock the door from the inside so she would not wonder off and get lost or hurt. It was terrible
Oh my goodness I didn’t even think about that 🥺
Did you tape off the windows on the front door ? It looks like you may need to scrape the glass.
Question! Do u guys have baseboard heating? We just bought a house with it and trying to figure ways around from using it until we can make the upgrade
So we only have it in our room above the garage but I feel you it can be a tough work around!!
