- The Solid Fuel Ducted Ramjet (SFDR) project was started in May 2013 with the objective of developing state-of-the-art SFDR propulsion technology, which can operate at varying altitudes and speeds. The development and demonstration of SFDR propulsion system is a joint venture of DRDO and Russia. Its successful use in missiles will mark India’s entry into a select club of nations that use next-generation missile technology against maneuvering targets, compromising the effectiveness of conventional missiles.
India's new surface-to-air missile is powered by Solid Fuel Ducted Ramjet (SFDR) achieved a speed of Mach 3 during its first test flight in May 2018. The missile, which is viewed as the Indian version of the French Meteor, was launched from the Integrated Test Range facility off the coast of Odhisha.
It was a booster phase test of the missile and the mission was a major milestone for the strategic missile program. The nozzle, less booster, and SFDR was tested successfully. The DRDO will test other components of the missile such as its high technology seeker equipment very soon. The 250-kilogram SFDR missile has been under development since 2013.
Meteor is an active radar guided beyond-visual-range air-to-air missile (BVRAAM) developed by MBDA. Meteor offers a multi-shot capability against long range manoeuvring targets, jets, UAVs and cruise missiles in a heavy electronic countermeasures (ECM) environment with range well in excess of 100 kilometres (62 mi). Maximum range is unknown, but no-escape zone of over 60 km is largest among air-to-air missiles according to manufacturer. Solid-fueled ramjet motor allows missile to cruise at a speed of over mach 4 and provides the missile with thrust and mid-way acceleration to target intercept

I just wanted to point out a minor error in your text above. The Meteor missile is not French. Produced by MBDA it is the product of a number of European countries. MBDA is a partnership between France, UK and Italy combining the missile expertise of all three countries but certain elements of the Meteor have also come from Germany, Sweden and others. cant we use this TECHNOLOGY in FIGHTER aircrafts ???? for that we need to change SOLID FUels continously and reliability also matters , as SDFR dosnt have blades so It will be more reliable for fighters plane
That is a good idea but we need a new technology to achieve initial thrust . Fighters are heavy so I don't know it is possible .
I believe it will a future technology .

DRDO LAKSHYA PTA aircraft ??? This aircraft uses initial propulsion in the initial stage of launch and this propulsion saparates from plane just after providing initial propulsion to plane , please see video of this LAKSHYA PTA if you don't know......... Neways LAKSHYA PTA is small in size
As we all khow here, that ram jet and pulse jet engines need initial thrust to operate and that initial thrust ranges from mac 2 to mac 4 and also depends upon the weight and air resistance of the aircraft, and it would be an expensive project to work on, and also I don't think that it would work, but that was a nice thought that you guys had, I appreciate that.

@@saqibmehmood3533 su 30 currently using base version of R77 .. and astra is not currently attached with su30 .. su 30 will be attached with R77 , which have 200 km range .. astra 1 have 100 km range but perfectly acurate ...same to AMRAM, Amram is back dated missile.. like unguided rocket.. however other than meteor missile no bvr can hit su 30 ...he he he hi hi🤑🤑😞🤑
