Not a criticism of the film, but never stop to rest by the side of a trail....move off where you can see the trail, but no one can see you.

You are correct! life doesn't happen as you want at times, for some, it's about life or death.
You actually managed to collect the perfect ingredients, here: three actors who can actually act......and a director that knows how to actually direct. Good work! People forget how hard it is to achieve that balance, when creating whatever artistic vision.
Thank you for noticing the effort put into it! Everybody that worked on this film was great at what they did, and that made it easier to make it happen. Nonetheless, it was quite a bit of work throughout the entire production. I hope you like our future films!
The cinematography and visuals don't look amateur either, which is nice to see in a short like this. I watch a lot of cheezy films and this isn't one of them.
Don't hit the can. Grind it back and forth on a rock like sand paper and the seal will eventually be gone.

thats how it is in every post apocolypes movie/series. All the women have freshly blow dried hair and make up on. They suddenly stop needing to use the toilet and they are able to beat a man twice their size with their fists.
This is amazing and has the interesting twist of not featuring the survivor wearing a gas mask! I dunno why everyone thinks if you survive the apocalypse you need a gas mask but it's getting old.
it depends of the sort im doing one based off mutated strains of covid 19 and ww3 the earth became toxic so.........
You haven't seen the apocalypse yet so thinking gas mask aren't essential is stupid like we don't know what is going to happen in the apocalypse.
Great film. The girl was no nonsense.
pretty good. One issue I have with all these scenarios is they always seem to be in the middle of nowhere, dessert, woods, etc and transit.
There will be countless empty structures. Pretty much any commercial structure will be empty as no one is going to work... Office buildings, strip malls, grocery stores. All will be empty as the economy will be completely shut down. That's likely where people will live, congregate, and organize.
One point of inaccuracy: You have optics (scope) mounted on shotguns... Even shooting slugs, you wouldn't benefit from a scope on a shotgun.
Actually there are a number of people who would rather survive in nature than an urban area. Plus it would be harder to film in a city(abandoned) then nature

Well done. Actors stayed in character, including their body language. Young guy handles his gun like a novice, puts his towel down on the dusty ground like a geek, doesn't spend hardly any time observing the campsite for others as though this is the first time he's been away from his computer screen. Old guy is a grown-up version of the young guy who hasn't learned much in life for being as old as he is. The commanding actions of the girl tells me that the campsite is hers and these two guys came upon it while she was away. She dispatches both since her communication skills and trust of others are long gone. She probably had some very bad experiences and learned this is her best way to survive being alone. She only talks to them after they are either wounded or dead. She shows no remorse, quickly turns and departs. Picking up one of her two gallons of water and departing means she is getting back to some more important unfinished business. She'll soon return to deal with two dead bodies . . . no rush there . . . they're not going anywhere. Josue Hermandez, we need episode two. Thanks for posting episode one.

These films are all "Alike" . . . the only GOOD thing, is that they show "The Rule", in situations like this . . . "Stupid gets you Dead", EVERY TIME !

did you use a filter or a certain editing app to make your short film appear dry or is that just how the shots look? Im trying to make a short film that needs to looks dry and polluted but im not sure how :)
@Hmm Good question. Actually, we shot these scenes at locations that were very green, so the dry look comes from the magic of editing. We used a preset color look for this short. You can find many film LUTs online even for free. I hope this brief insight helps and good luck with your short!

(The story: a tropical version mashup of elements of The Walking Dead, Mad Max, Lara Croft Tomb Raider and The Book of Eli....set 7-8 months after a worldwide SHTF event).

@10thejgm78, I can see how it could be mistaken for a coconut. The scavenger was actually using a rock. I know... not too smart of him either, but you gotta use what you have at your disposal to survive!

Hi guys; You know... I get it... you are working hard, doing a better job than I am... but really!... Please watch how a bird eats... constant vigilance... If... after 15 years of survival you have clean anything I would be surprised... When I go camping with all my gear I get grubby real fast... from soot, ash, mud, sweat and general grime of travel. Tell me why would someone still be in a tent after years in a survival situation? Surely any sane person would have a well hidden struture / cave, tree house etc.... Also, after opening just a few cans one learns how to open them without the bash technique. It is such a shame that you are unable to film realistically or that you only film people of extremely low IQ who are unlikely to survive longer than a few months... of taking stuff from others. Please... get advice from someone who actually does long term homelessness... or someone who hunts to eat... survive. In the desert / dry area i would have a cave / rock struture that is impossible to approach without alerting me (If I am "home"). It would be impossible to see fom any direction while i could see out. When out I would have serious camo gear of some sort... natural or man made...and I would be hyper alert for noises / scents / tracks / feelings ( subconscious awareness) etc. You don't get to shoot an amimal by wandering around willy nilly, lolly gagging... you... a survivor only survive if you remain ALERT!. Anyway... good work on doing something... Better than all the useless people living off the government... who will be a real problem once the government money runs out... till they get killed / starve to death/ then it become s a real fight between utterly ruthless smart people. Also... be alert that dogs will be a real problem in a SHTF as huge packs will roam about and WILL take down any man who cannot defend himself. From Ivan J Fitness. I don't think either of the two men would have survived by themselves if their clueless behavior is their norm! The woman wasn't much better since she didn't know that the other guy was even there until he spoke. None of these three would survive long without help, which is true for most people. If nothing else, you have to sleep sometime and just wandering around the desert isn't exactly a great plan. Why didn't the old guy finish off the younger and take his weapon? No real plot to this story! Two thumbs down!
