That modest smile. I love it. This guy walked away feeling like a super hero. Everyone deserves to feel that at least once
Except for rapists

I got that feeling once. I was the last man standing representing my class in a game of dodgeball. I am *terrible* at sports and couldn't catch a ball to save my life. But on that day I caught it and won the game for my class.

How do I get into this line of work?
@@nicktomei7642 apply at your local course. Most take little to zero experience. Been in this field for 4 years worked my first pga tournament last summer at the 3M open
@@nicktomei7642ive been doing it for 2 years now. Just go on indeed and find any golf courses giring for grounds maintenance or landscaping or anything under that title. You’ll probably start out doing grunt work but with most jobs you start out at the bottom.
One great thing about golf is how much the fans appreciate these people. Most sports don’t even care about them and people wonder for years who dresses the fields and cleans the stands.
U mean Mexicans?
@@jbird7782 no I mean the people who prepare the field
Nah, baseball fans show appreciation too. Fields like Wrigley look amazing in person.
Even worse... some people don't even consider or think about these behind the scenes jobs at all. You can clearly see who most of them are because they never take their trash off when they leave. They just drop it where they are.

I can only think of Baseball showing this much hype and appreciation for these folks
Give this man a raise
I’m willing to bet he does pretty well. No actual evidence of this but I’m sure you have to know a fair bit about horticulture to be a groundskeeper on a prestigious course like TPC Scottsdale and I bet they pay to have people that know what they’re doing like this gentleman.
Still deserves a raise !

Fully soaking in the moment. Pretty awesome. Glad just some normal guy is getting some glory.
I hope he is paid well. Walks with integrity.
The flexing he made before he began digging the hole got me laughing 😂😂😂
For those asking about the quarter.. I used to do this for a couple years.
He accidentally cut the hole sloppy and on an angle, (it happens from time to time, even to the extremely skilled.. it's really hard to judge if something is 90 degrees straight up and down when all of the ground around you is sloped) You can see him stepping on the white cup setter trying to force one side lower so the cup is level and the flag sits straight up and down. (My superintendent HATED when we did this cuz the cup setter can leave indents in the green if you’re not careful, but if you’re careful it’s perfectly fine) He then used the quarter as a shim in between the cup and the dirt to keep the cup/flag from wobbling and standing straight which is honestly a pretty good idea. I used to use a spoon and put more dirt in between when I had to readjust it lol, which is far messier and time consuming.
Gif him e 🏆 ABURIDO
Here I thought the quarter was a Jewish thing kinda like when they build a house the usually put a coin undneith the sill of their frond door.
Or jamicas always show up when pouring g the basement to their house and toss that deity statue into the concrete.
Is there some kind of leveling indicator on the cutter? Should there be?
@@TheMightyOdingood point, sure would help keep it truly 90 degrees or plumb.
@@TheMightyOdin There wasn’t on the cutter I used, and it doesn’t seem like there’s one on his either. I’ve always thought it would help as well, and after looking into it a few companies do actually make one with a level. Most courses, even multimillion dollar courses are on pretty tight budgets though, and would likely view this as a luxury rather than a necessity. I’m only speaking from my own experience, but seems to be the case throughout most of the industry.

Honesty I love young golf crowds. They are all usually intelligent, so expect to have great conversations, and they are usually great networking events! This was my favorite job on the golf course. You had to earn some respect to get the job of changing pins. Very relaxing, focused and meditative couple hours of work. A day of picking the new pin locations, cutting the holes, and mending the old ones was a good day. You took pride in that job.

These guys are always deserves recognition
As a person that worked grounds on a golf course for four years, cutting pins was the worst job, especially when our equipment was not near as nice as that. Mind you, this was a very very very amateur course, and some golfers would still go back to the pro complaining that some pins were “just too hard of a putt”.

Placing a quarter (or other coin) inside a golf hole during its installation is a long-standing tradition in the golf world. This practice is believed to bring good luck or ensure prosperity and success for the golf course. It's similar to various other traditions where coins are placed in foundations, new buildings, or even under the masts of ships as a symbolic gesture for good fortune.
