  • Vier Tondichtungen nach Arnold Böcklin
The first of four tone poems by Max Reger (1873-1916) on paintings by Arnold Böcklin (1827-1901). This work was composed on the subject of Böcklin's "Der geigende Eremit" (The Hermit Playing the Violin). Ferdinand Helmann plays the solo violin part, with the Royal Concertgebouw led by Hermann Abendroth in 1941.

Great plan to post the Arnold Böcklin painting with the related work. It gives the whole composition greater significance. I don't know of many orchestra notes containing the paintings, or even recording notes that contain these. Shows that you put extra effort into making this video. Thanks!
