  • Joshua & Ryan talk about how they handle stress, tension, and anxiety. Watch “Maximal” episodes of The Minimalists Private Podcast exclusively at / theminimalists
    Questions answered in this episode:
What have you found most challenging about maintaining a minimalist lifestyle, and how have you overcome those challenges?
What can I do to feel more comfortable around non-minimalists?
Do you think you both would have continued to be long-term minimalists without having one another along for the journey for support and encouragement?
The workload at my current job consistently flows over into my personal time on my evenings and weekends, and it causes me a great deal of stress and anxiety in doing so-should I stick it out, and if so, how do I manage the stress and anxiety?
How do I deal with the stress and anxiety of commuting daily in my car so I don’t have to give up access to the things I love like my job, my partner, and my recreational activities?

Very freeing to think about our passion and not having to commit an entire workweek to it. Do what you can. Drive is a great book too! Autonomy, mastery, purpose.

"Material clutter is a physical representation of what's going on inside... Minimalism helps us manage our stress by replacing our vapid problems like consumerism with better more empowering (meaningful) problems." - JFM. I love it! Thank you!

Tony Robbins 6 human needs. Whim Hoff breath work : breathe in 3 seconds, hold 10, breathe out slowly - do 10x, floods body with oxygen and changes mental state. Positive incantations.

Lol, I'm a teacher and that IS the job and the workload. It is very stressful. I'm in the same boat. There is no changing the workload or getting 'help' because everyone is overloaded with work. It is a great job but is not a good system with student numbers.

BStrong was wondering how you are doing? Anything change? Did you try & have a conversation with your supervisor? When I left the corporate world in 2006, it was the same situation. The only way in that case was to find a way to do something else. It was rocky for a few years. So glad I did it. Its the best decision I ever made. Now 12 years later, I face reinventing myself again. Part of life. Hope to hear from you and see how things are. Blessings

I am also a teacher and had the same workload. Changed jobs still in education My "grading" has minimized a bit, but workload is same if not more than ever. The lack of knowledge about this topic shows how out of touch the public is with educators and what they do/expect us to do on a daily basis. We cannot ask aides or students to grade most assessment/test papers...that responsibility falls on the teachers.

to the person asking fir suggestions on how to make driving less stressful. become more confident and comfortable. take as many dangerous driving courses as you can go to a track fir a day and test drive some cars. keep pushing yourself to better your ability and this will ultimately better your experience.
