- This idea just kinda came to mind recently. I watched this spongebob documentary and it just made me feel so nostalgic, but also sad. I feel so glad to grow up with the old spongebob, seasons 1-3. Steve and the crew had just taken off, and everything was great. Recently, spongebob has been getting worse and worse since Steve passed, and I wanted to make this tribute to him and the rest of the crew for creating such an amazing cartoon to grow up with.
This seems like it came out of nowhere, but my little ADHD self just got hyperfixated on nostalgic things, but mostly Spongebob.
R.I.P, ocean man.
Thanks for making so many childhoods better.

He made millions of children’s childhoods so much fun. Stephen wasn’t led by money or greed, he only cares about making people happy. He gave his earnings from SpongeBob to marine life organizations as well as their health services for animals. It’s only fitting his ashes were scattered at sea. He really was the Ocean Man! Rest in peace Stephen. ❤

a legend. he created spongebob, he wrote, directed, produced and storyboarded on rocko's modern life so he was one of the main reasons that show was so great. so many shows came from spongebob and the writers he hired for it:chowder, phineas and ferb, harvey beaks, adventure time, billy and mandy, fish hooks, steven universe, mighty bee etc. all branches of the spongebob tree.
I guess you can say Rocko’s modern life walked so SpongeBob SquarePants could run

What an incredible man he was. I’m forever grateful for Mr. Hillenburg because SpongeBob is my favorite show of all time. He will always be remembered for how much of an impact he had on all of us.

The ocean man, took him by the hand, and led him to the land, that he understands.
Man, seeing these clips from a different era, its bittersweet. You can tell that this was a passion project, done not for money or fame, but out of love. The money and fame were simply byproducts.
And Mr Hillenberg made it all happen, without him or this show, i can say with absolute certainty that i would not be the same person i am today.
They say a person dies 2 deaths, their mortal death, and the death of their memory. As long as Spongebob is beloved by millions, Stephen will live on.

a couple years ago i watched the scene in the lost episode where they bury spongebobs pants & it actually made me cry :’( its a hell of a lot sadder now that stephens dead. it pisses me off that nicks disrespecting his legacy & milking it dry. they shouldve made the movie the finale like he wanted. r.i.p. stephen :( thanks a million 4 making the best show ever & giving us the best childhoods ever

Believe or not, one of the things that made me and my couple closer to each other in the beggining was our love for SpongeBob. The first time we ever met we stayed in the room watching some episodes, so thanks not just for the childhood memories but also for all the laughs as an adult. Rest in Piece, Steven, the real Ocean Man 💛.

Awww thank you for making this for him, he deserves it as he made my childhood fun, I was a very happy kid around SpongeBob shows, as I always loved the cartoon, my favorite, even I had the Gameboy games and pc games of SpongeBob, some people think is annoying cuz they adults now but they never know that true happiness of a kid was always SpongeBob not matter how annoying he was but he was a good fellow and good friend, rip Stephen Hillengburg, you were a good man, made many kids happy, and you always will even after death, may your SpongeBob and friends keep living till the age of men dies, cuz we will never miss your beautiful work.
