I swear ...this is 1 of Warren's best roles ...captures him well 😊
I saw this again yesterday on DVD (Thursday, March 9th, 2023). It was the first time since 1978 that I saw the movie in the theatre in Brockton, Massachusetts. It was pretty cool because I remembered so much like it was yesterday. I remembered laughing so hard when Warren Beatty's character fell in the wishing well back in 1978. I had totally forgotten about that part until I saw that scene again yesterday.
Love this movie so much. Saw it endless times as a kid in the theatre. What a soundtrack.

Never heard of this and it was on cable a few years ago and I started watching and I was just drawn in by Warren Beatty's performance. The way he is so energetic about his situation and so chill about how there's a few people trying to murder him really drew me in. I'll have to see this again.
He did great. I could feel his loss. And I was just a kid.
This was one of my parents favorite movies. I watched it so many times on VHS in the 80's. Forgot all about this classic
I can't believe Paramount hasn't released this on blu-ray. A box office hit, Oscar nominations, two of the biggest stars of that era...
Same with Ordinary People from a couple of years later.

LOVE THIS MOVIE!!! It is HILARIOUS plus insightful and very romantic. My favorite line is "You know this is not life, and you know now that this is not a dream. This is place that comes after life and after dreams." Classic. I have seen ghosts and I have died (twice) and come back. There is more after this existence. I can only hope that my weigh station is as eventful! LOL!!

First movie I was allowed to go to as a kid without my parents. Neighbor kid took us, he was a little older. Now just 6 years from when he is due to arrive. I feel old.

I liked this movie.....just felt that Joe Pendleton kind of got screwed in the end. Very good movie though.

What a great movie, had to rewind several times because of my drifting mind but yeah great watch.
Why Beatty or other actors weren't awarded the "Academy Award ' for this is dumbfounding. Clearly Beatty's best, as well as everyone involved. Great film for upcoming actors to view. 🤘

This film was a remake of the film "Here Comes Mr Jordan" from the 40s, check it out here on RUclips.....and "Here Comes Mr Jordan" was based on a play......called "Heaven Can Wait"! "Here Comes Mr Jordan" was nearly the same but the sport was boxing instead of football. This was certainly the best version of all, hysterical script, great acting and an amazing score by Dave Grusin.
Down to earth with chris rock was a remake of both

This wasn't the original. This was the remake of the 1943 screenplay. So the one with chris rock was the second remake of this movie I believe. And the ending that Samson Raphaelson made pisses me off. If he can't remember a thing about his old life, then he is essentially the person thatb he took the body from. That's like not killing the last guy and sending joe to heaven against his will. Stupid and un logical ending.

When you get tired of superhero movies "Heaven Can Wait" is a nice break from films about cities being destroyed again and again by overpowered villains who really are just lonely and need a romantic partner and alien civilizations that invade Earth because nobody on their planet ever invented Taco Tuesdays.

In 1978 I was just becoming conscious of who I am and what the would was. Young man imprinted by the movies of the times. I liked this movie as a kid, but the subject matter was above me.
