This was probably a very weird day for Daniel. 1. His beginner opponent plays inexplicably well. 2. His opponent looks like he is in absolute agony the entire game. 3. He finds out his opponent is cheating by Stockfish moves being transmitted to a sex toy in his butt. I am guessing this is not how Daniel thought his day would go when he woke up that morning.

There used to be a show called "Faking it" on UK TV. It was basically this premise - take somebody with a normal career and train them to be an expert in something new, like a burger flipper becoming a high-end chef and try to fool a panel of experts. Were a few stories throughout the show where people enjoyed it so much they quit their old job to continue training in the new one.
Sadly it's been nearly 20 years since the last series so it's unlikely we'll get another!
Channel 4 still have some episodes up on their site, so you should be able to watch it on PC/TV/phone/console if you live in the UK/have a VPN.
A person named Max Deutcsh did something similar to that in chess

The allegations of an*l beads weren't even allegations. It was a meme started on a chessbrahs stream from Eric Hansen. Nobody thought it was true but then people started repeating it on the internet and then the news picked it up and it became 'truth' lol. It literally all came from one guy in a twitch chat haha

Jakub commented on the last video and explained that they filmed at least three versions of the story in his apartment, including one where they pretended to spend the night. They never planned on staying and had a flight out later that day (the hostel scene is also clearly fake). This video is just as fake--badly photoshopped boards, no continuity of piece positions between shots, and invalid checkmates. Not to mention the idea is copied from Mike Boyd.

I haven't seen any comments mentioning that the final position of the game at 9:04 is clearly photoshopped. There are smudges where the g4 pawn and a1 rook used to be (not to mention the a8 rook switched teams). It's also the only bird's eye shot in the video that's a still image.
If that's not convincing, the position would also be impossible to reach using any combination of legal moves, as the queen and rook are both checking the king orthogonally at the same time, which would only be possible if pawn promotion were involved (which is obviously not the case as none of white's pawns have moved).
I'm not saying the rest of the video is fake, but this just comes across as a bit dishonest, even though I'm sure it was only done for the sake of the video.
Also at 9:07 white, interestingly, has three rooks
And on the computer at 9:05, there's a white rook on a8. The arrow by the engine also makes no sense.

Someone who appeared in their last video explained that they filmed multiple versions of the story and staged the meeting. Now this video is also fake, full of errors, and copied from Mike Boyd. Josh and Archie have really fell off.

First things first, thank you to everyone for all the supporting comments (even if a couple were a little less so).
To be honest, I'm quite surprised by this video myself, as one: that's not the deal we've had, two: they were actually quite friendly in person, we've had quite an enjoyable chat, including discussing some British panel shows I've been watching when they arrived (I would assume that's why the TV is blurred - for copyright reasons).
However to set the facts straight:
1. I admit my flat was not in the best condition. They knew it. They've been warned beforehand, I had my hosting status as "maybe" partly because of that. And I did encourage them to try and find a different host, as mine was not truly ready for guests, but I would still be willing if I'm the only option.
2. I agreed to host them mostly because the feel of the whole piece was supposed to be (as it was described to me) showing the absurdity of British food prices (and presenting couchsurfing as a viable option for staying if you want to do it on the cheap).
3. As some have guessed, by they time they arrived at my place, it was already agreed they would not be staying - however the reason was never some fake "family emergency". I wonder how much of it is true, but the story that was given to me was that they managed to switch to a flight the same day (I was even given an exact hour of the flight, so it might have actually been true - not sure about the hostel scene though).
4. They did however film several variants of the story, one being "we found a better flight, but we could have stayed here, if we didn't" that I was told, and they even prepared a version where they pretended to go to sleep after all (which was the most prevailing variant for most of the time - one of the reasons why I don't really speak much on camera is not just because of how they cut it, but I just didn't want to take much part in the "fake stay" version - I'm neither good nor comfortable with lying).
To be honest, if they presented either of those variants, I'd probably be fine and would have left the topic alone. But I'm not comfortable with the way it got presented in the end, as this is not what we agreed upon. Somehow I'm not surprised that in the end I didn't get a message from them when the video went up.
So do with it what you like, but judging from the bit including me, I'm starting to wonder how much of the rest is also a fabrication."

Josh and Archie if you see this, I do really enjoy your videos and am always excited when they come up on my notifications, but from this to the just stop oil (the pandering to the far right (talktv etc)) I think it would probably be a good thing for the quality of the channels videos to reassess what made the older videos so great. I think it comes down to what you said a while ago on the happy hour podcast where you need to always be punching up, the just stop oil didn’t feel like that 100% and this which has already been done before by other creators of similar and smaller sizes without any mention just seems like it isn’t what made this channel so great and exciting originally.

It was very obvious something was suspicious in that game, most GMs can tell when they are playing against a computer
The fascinating parts of this story was Hikaru's interview about it, saying that he didn't even need to know the best move. Just a buzz that there was some trick or something to look out for in a key position telling him to think a little bit longer than normal.
