I wish they’d film every broadway show so those of us who don’t make it to Broadway for multiple weeks every year could still enjoy the magic of these shows.
My favorite opening number of any Broadway show... so beautifully done here by everyone. I was lucky to see this production. Love that it's been recorded with modern technology... I LOVE THIS!!!
my college just did this musical. We were able to get the rights to the show before they did. and everytime I think of this song I think of the words "JOIN US"
@@blancobasnett Usually, when older shows are revived on Broadway, the rights to perform them become unavailable for the duration of the run. Their college managing to get the rights to Pippin just before its Broadway revival was likely an incredible stroke of luck, that they managed to 'sneak in just under the wire', so to speak.
What a brilliant way to show the making of this.......the show continues to inspire.....even Stephen jumping around....cast faces just show the joy this production is generating.......so proud to be part of this wonderful family.
I'm HOOKED!!! I love, every song but this is favorite at the moment. Mainly because my granddaughter will be singing it at her summer drama camp! Two weeks to show time!
i saw a version of this musical at my friends' high school my closest friend that goes there was pippin and now when ever i hear these songs it brings back the memories of seeing it at their school
Omg I love it! I saw this last week! It was incredible! I met Bethneys dog! And (holy god) I met Matthew James Thomas! It was possibly the best day ever!!!!!!!
I wish that MY experience running away to the circus was as magical as "Pippin". Long-story-short: I'm now the mop boy at a brothel of clowns and trapeze artists in Saipan. I really shoulda stayed home.
How cool. You Tube tosses yet another life preserver to a fading theatrical tradition. Bravo. thanks to all of the unions allowing this clip and to have the foresight allowing stunning filming to attract the "heads down" generation to turn off their devices and go to the theater
Depends on the director. Simple Joys is a very sexually charged song, and I saw in a high school. Then I saw an all Asian cast with an anime theme, and the teens loved it. I think most directors would try to tone down the sexual/sensual elements so it's just suggested but not explicit.
I've seen kids around that age at the Broadway production, but it's going to vary from family to family. Basically, use the movie Chicago as your frame of reference. If you're okay with your kids seeing that movie, especially the Prison Tango scene, then you're good. If not, wait a few years.
While this is by no means a bad version, and it's just an awesome song to begin with, I feel like these new singers overdo it a little. Part of what made the original version so great was how inviting it was, like Ben Vereen was serenading you with the promise of something strange and exciting. I like that they're doing a couple of things differently, though, like having the Vereen part to a female actress.
Tony Young My mom was lucky enough to see him perform in a nightclub a couple years ago. He's a true song-and-dance man, gives love to every single member of the audience.
The revival of Pippin was such a spectacular show! Patina Miller has an EPIC voice
I get chills everytime that piano strikes.

Easily one of the greatest revivals ever produced.

I still don’t know what pippin really is about and I played drums in the pit for it in my high school ahaha
The book of Ecclesiastes, but a musical
I just came back from seeing Patina perform this on Broadway. I feel blessed by the experience.
What a brilliant way to show the making of this.......the show continues to inspire.....even Stephen jumping around....cast faces just show the joy this production is generating.......so proud to be part of this wonderful family.
i'm digging steven's excitement
JUST FABULOUS !!
Nothing like being in a studio laying down the tracks with great musicians.
I love how into it Stephen is. That little butt movement during the instrumental was priceless.

I wish that MY experience running away to the circus was as magical as "Pippin". Long-story-short: I'm now the mop boy at a brothel of clowns and trapeze artists in Saipan. I really shoulda stayed home.
Looking for an instrumental version of this song...this new version in this key. Anyone?
Wow! John Rubinstein was Pippin on the first sound track, now he's King Charlemagne on the new recording.
John Rubinstein played King Charlemagne on tour but he's not on the recording, it is Terrance Mann
Sabrina Harper! :-) Nice Greets from Austria! :-)
Watch for Stephen Schwartz, so excited, jumping up and down in the sound booth. Much like I was doing, watching this video!
Very interesting to keep the sway motion from the original - makes the lot of them look like very fancy snakes.
Of course! It's a Fosse show! =)
For my music class i have to sing this. Im a tenor 1 wish me luck

Could anyone tell me the plot? Is it for kids around 10 years old? This video/recording session looks/sounds amazing. Thanks in advance.
Depends on the director. Simple Joys is a very sexually charged song, and I saw in a high school. Then I saw an all Asian cast with an anime theme, and the teens loved it. I think most directors would try to tone down the sexual/sensual elements so it's just suggested but not explicit.
And the best way to describe the plot is a very theatrical version of the son of Charlemagne trying to find himself.
I've seen kids around that age at the Broadway production, but it's going to vary from family to family. Basically, use the movie Chicago as your frame of reference. If you're okay with your kids seeing that movie, especially the Prison Tango scene, then you're good. If not, wait a few years.
What is the name of the woman who sings "humor handled by a master?"
Thank you Natasha!
LOL Terrence Mann is the best!
Stephen Schwartz?!?!?!
Rachel Bay Jones must be protected at all costs 🥺

Meeting Ben Vereen on the set of Gray's Anatomy while doing extra work was an amazing experience. He was kind and friendly to everyone.
Tony Young My mom was lucky enough to see him perform in a nightclub a couple years ago. He's a true song-and-dance man, gives love to every single member of the audience.
I wish they didn't take it off Broadway
