- David Pogue goes behind the scenes to witness the rehearsals, refinements, and recasting that are the price of admission when a touring production of one of Broadway's most beloved shows heads out to dozens of cities from coast to coast.
This absolutely blows my mind how this video shows us some original actors and how long this musical has been out. Recently, it was just yesterday (Saturday). We did the entire musical for Pippin as well, at my university.
I’m watching this in 2019 and Kyle is so great when you look at the fact he is playing Aaron in Mean Girls
Stupid with love! I wanna get it! I wanna get it but how?
Abbey, same. Pippin is one of my favorite musicals and I like Kyle, too.
Matthew is Pippin, I could not see the show without him being Pippin. I was disappointed that Patina was not the touring Leading Player. But Sasha did a good job. If anyone had to replace her, I'm glad they chose Sasha.
I have seen both Broadway and the National Tour Performance. I still preferred Broadway, but the Tour actors did a good job.
I saw the national tour when it came to Costa Mesa California. The circus inspired staging gave the show a refreshing and colorful quality. Having seen John Rubinstein before as the Wizard in Wicked, seeing him come back to the show that launched his stardom as the title character’s father felt a bit surrealistic to me. I’m actually here because next week I am seeing Diane Paulis’s (the director) latest work directing Waitress on its national tour.
Pippin is one of my favorite musicals. Too bad I didn't see the Broadway Revival or the touring production. The show is amazing and I love it so much.
My husband and I will be watching Pippin this weekend in Durham, NC. It looks wonderful. I'm very excited!!
THIS IS SUCH A TOUCHING VIDEO
oh wow! how sad that the one boy scheduled to play the role of his life, had to leave the show a week before opening night of the tour! how does one get past that?
+Tommy Grizzaffi he did just recently finish up 5 weeks as Elder Price in the Book of Mormon. He was absolutely fantastic, so hopefully he'll stick around I'd love to see more of him!
Tommy Grizzaffi he’s now in Mean Girls on Broadway!
Tommy Grizzaffi Kyle Dean Massey played Pippin when I went to see the show.
I love it! Thanks for sharing!
I saw Pippin in Charlotte, NC. It was a Saturday matinee, we had and understudy leading player named Lisa Karlin. She was Amazing! If anyone has the chance to see her you will be amazed. She had an acting style unlike any leading player I've seen online.
I saw Lisa karlin too and wowowow she was great
I had Lisa Karlin too- blew me away
I have a full new understanding and love for Kyle
Going to see it tonight!!!!!!!!!!
So emotional!
I love the show Pippin plus Kyle
two of my friends Lucas Shultz and Callan Bergman I couldn't see cuase the week it came to my home town I was out of the country but they sent me behind the scene clips and looked like they where having fun
I saw it yesterday!
That’s beautiful
John Rubenstne sounds like Ted Neally in Jesus Christ Superstar
more like Pippin's grandfather
