    Great video. Thanks for the info. This made my change out easy. Nice video was straight to the point and thorough. These GE machines are garbage. In fact most all machines today are built with the same internal parts(plastic) no matter what brand you buy Except for a Speed Queen which has a 10 or 20 year warranty. They are built like a tank and cost $1000.00-$1500.00. These GE products should not cost more than $300.00 at the most

      Glad this was able to help you out. While I was getting ready to work on mine I couldn’t find any info online so I decided to make a video while I problem solved the issue.

      Thank you. I know the feeling that when I was looking for the information I couldn’t find it online. I decided that while I was figuring it out I would make the video to hopefully help someone else out of the situation. I’m glad it was a success in helping you!

    The 2nd pump is the water recirculation pump, for the waterfall effect in the wash cycle.

    Seeing the error code before you started replacing the pump would have been nice.

    This is the video I needed. I have the exact washer and same problem just started, dripping from bottom of the pump. You have saved the day and now I know how to replace it. There are good people in the world and you are one of them for making this video. Thank you!!!!

      Just replaced this unit on my washer. Took it apart and found the shaft that connect to impeller was out of alignment. The magneto was rubbing the inside of the plastic cylinder until it wore is paper thin and cracked.

    Excellent video, did not expect the access is on the underside of the washer. I have a GTW680BSJ3WS and it has no front panel like some other GE models. I thought maybe the rear panel was how it's done.
    Just wondering why the back access cover for the drain hose connector needed to be removed for this repair. Was that just to allow it to lay it flat on the backside? The connector appears recessed, so it seems like just the hose needed removal. Could be tipped on the side to get to the bottom, or just partially tipped backwards against the wall.
    Disconnecting the drain hose to empty the remaining water might be good though.
    I took a peek under mine, and it's all accessible by tipping it back. Same black cover to be removed to disconnect the pump harness connector. I just need to find a way to drain the water out in a controlled manner since the pump isn't running.
    What's neat is that there was a service sheet underneath in a plastic bag affixed to the inside wall, giving wiring and connector info, and showed all the error code info. Read codes by pressing and holding the start button while off.
    Also a service test mode by pressing the start and rotating the selector button 180 degrees. Tested the pump power and it seems to switch on, but it just hums, so the pump is seized up.

    Hi! Mine is not leaking but I came here after reading an article saying a clogged drain pump could be causing residue build up on clothes. (I’ve ruled out everything else suggested like not using too much detergent and can’t figure out why it’s happening). Our machine is about 2.5 years old and never had this prolonged issue before.

    Was it draining at all?. Mine was in pretty rough shape. Just started today, leaking from what I saw. But would not drain or spin. I have 2 new ones on the way. I heard this is a common problem. That other pump, is it the same or different?

    • @ShreddedGaines
      @ShreddedGaines  2 года назад

      I believe it was the same, but at the time since it wasn’t leaking I did not give it too much attention.

    Is that pump also for the recirculating?

      I believe there was a second pump for the recirculating, but I am not for sure. I believe I remember seeing 2 pumps.

    does this make it leak alot or just drip? Do you use the QR code to order the parts?

      @ShreddedGaines  Год назад +1

      I used the QR code to locate an image description with part number, but then just ordered it on Amazon.

    It sure would have been nice if you showed exactly how to disconnect the harness. You go into great depths on how to remove screws but don't show the secret to unlock the harness.

    • @ShreddedGaines
      @ShreddedGaines  2 года назад +1

      My apologies. The harnesses all disconnect by raising the tab over a lip then pull each harness away from the joining plug/jack connection. The tab looks like a plug/jack keyway and also lets you see how to reconnect the harnesses. You can only connect the harnesses to one other harness. Easiest way is if it fits it has to be the right harness. Simply line the tab/lip to re-connect. Hope this helps, but if not maybe ask a different way and I will try to help.

      To add a little bit to this explanation, on the BOTTOM of the plug, push UP with a fingernail or small screwdriver on the rectangular clip that is right at the junction between the plug and harness. It will move up a small amount, enough to release and the plug pulls right off. Thanks for the video. Once I saw the same discolored area on my pump I figured I was on the right track. New pump arrives tomorrow.

    One of the issues anymore everything is plastic garbage.

    • @cliffvictoria3863
      @cliffvictoria3863 2 года назад

      Yes, poorly built plastic garbage. This is the 2nd repair my 3 year old washing machine has needed. First was a complete circuit board replacement under warranty.
