This is just a very small step forward to de-escalation. Obviously the biggest problems still remain and shows both sides are still distrustful of each other and are only willing to take one step back at a time. If there are any movements from China's side India will retaliate going back to same standoff as before. There is no other way to do this. India has literally waged wars with China so you know we don't trust them either. This is just an effort to ease the tension a little bit so each country can balance this relationship a little better.
