Wow..a '57 Bel Air fuelie with power windows, super rare!! By the mid '60's you gotta wonder how many Rochester F.I. units were removed because of problems that the local mechanic couldn't figure out, and just tossed or never seen again. Great car and great video Lou!!!! You're the master at bringing us cool cars to look at!

Wow! What a beauty! That 1957 Chevrolet Bel-Air 283 Fuelie looks awesome in it's Tuxedo Black paint job! It's rare to see a fuel injected 283 with a 2-speed Powerglide slush box automatic transmission behind it. It sounds extremely healthy and performs well on the road. Most fuel injected cars were equipped with a manual transmission either a 3-speed on the tree, or a 4-speed on the floor. This 1957 Bel-Air is in pristine condition. Another awesome find Lou!

Ah Lou, you're a man after my own heart! I love almost everything on wheels, but I started loving classic cars with the '57 Chevy and it will always be my favorite. The car is perfection in my eyes. Say what you want about the longer, lower, sleeker Fords and Mopar's of the day, but as far as cool factor? Give it up trying to compete with this car. The 1950's on wheels! You hear "Rock Around The Clock" playing in your head when you look at it! :)

When I was a little boy...my Aunt and Uncle had one of these. A Bel Air, but probably not a Fuelie. I believe the one they had was four doors, but it was definitey black. My Aunt Alice did NOT drive, a lot of housewives in those days did not drive. However, she was bold! Unbeknownst to any of us, including her husband, she started by starting it up and driving it back and forth on their driveway. Then she pulled it out and drove around the block. After venturing futher and further, she drove to our house one day. She was so proud of herself for teaching herself how to drive in 1957 Chevy Bel-Air. Don't remember what her husband thought, but he was not too pleased, I'm sure. Another Aunt and Uncle had a black 1958 Chevy. Not sure which model.... Fun to see your video and detail that you always give. This brought back good memories of my Aunt Alice driving her Chevy!

¡Saludos cordiales, Lou!

Oh, you should read my comments on how much I HATE continental kits on '57 Chevys, AND the horrid extra bumper guards, fender skirts and the dorky (lower front fender) mirrors. Unfortunately, these were/are "legit" options Chevy had at the time for the car. Seems more are bogged down with this crap by restorers than 30+ years ago. It's not my imagination.

    1957 Chevrolet Bel Air.
The Bel Air started in 1950 with the "Blue Flame" Inline-6 or the "Thriftmaster" Inline-6, also being featured on the 1953-1962 Chevrolet Corvette. The car's name originates from the Bel Air neighborhood in Los Angeles. For the 1955 model year, it gained a facelift, featuring a new front and rear along with a new paintjob. For the front end, it featured a Ferrari-like appearance for the 1955-1956 model years (Rectangular grille, circular [1955] and square [1956] dual beam headlights]). For 1957, it gained the most iconic front end, making it the most iconic Bel Air. The front end had two Chevrolet badges at the front, bullet fins, and moved dual beam headlights. The engines that were available in the 1955-1957 Bel Air in terms of V8 were the 265 Cubic Inch V8 and 283 Cubic Inch V8 (4.3 Litre and 4.6 Litre V8).
There were two other variants of the Bel Air, the Chevrolet 150 and the Chevrolet 210. The Chevrolet 150 was the lowest end model and the cheapest model, while the 210 was a step up from the 150, but still below the Bel Air in terms of features and price. Both the 150 and 210 were replaced with the Chevrolet Biscayne for the 1959 model year, which would last for 1972 in the United States, but 1974 in Canada.

As always, Lou, stellar video. One thing I would have liked to have heard was where and how he obtained this car. Also you consistently show every plate and sticker with the star being the jack instructions yet you seemingly are ambivalent when it comes to something as rare as power windows on a 50's mid priced car. That feature is almost as rare as the fuel injection. Was everything on the car when he purchased it and if not what parts did he have to acquire and how difficult were they to find? Did he also do the interior? The Rochester fuel injection is notoriously difficult to keep in working order. Does he do his own adjustments and has that been a problem for him?
Lou just some things that would make your Car Stories more interesting and entertaining. My opinion but your show.

Most fuel injection cars of that era, were unreliable and where converted to carburetors. The top engine was 283 Cubic inches and 283 HP. My mom's story was she was 8 yrs old when her dad brought home a black and yellow Nomad brand new. 6 kids and counting, made it impractical.

Really love this '57 Bel Air sport coupe Lou, and a nice belated birthday present for me (born 5/26/57). Always a favorite since I was a small child. The flawless paint with the chrome is perfection. The car has the original (or original style) rear view outside mirrors, and noticed the power windows, not common back then. Most importantly it follows the 'less is more' sense of restoration. The Bel Air siding continuing along the bottom of the trunk looks sharp.
Too many '57's are bogged down with the really ugly continental kit, fender skirts, hideous bumper guards (front & back), and the awful extra fender mirrors further down the fenders that look HORRIBLE. It's particularly common on the convertibles. The really sad thing is these grotesque add-ons were legitimate "options" that could be ordered going back to when the cars were new, and either a lot of people did then, or they've been added in recent years by new owners who think it's a good idea with these accessories (unfortunately) still available. Anyway, this one is an example of what the car should like: no distracting, interfering, disgusting, and completely unnecessary garbage.

I would stop asking peoples last names because thieves could look up the last name, get an address and steal the car. Sure they can easily follow the guy home and steal it later. It’s odd that GM didn’t offer the FI System on all V8’s. Maybe it wasn’t as good as they said it was.
