That's a beauty. There's a beauty in simplicity -the relationship between form and function.
I love the commitment to Excellence.

I worked for GM for many years and my last 7 at the Cadillac Division , no brand new car ever looked perfect the day it left the factory …. This car is better than Perfect ….It is the Stradivarius of cars …

Wow... a beautiful example of American automotive history. Essentially a brand-new museum quality '57 Chevy 150..

I know everyone loves the Belairs (I do too) but I have to say the toned down design of the 150, especially in black, makes it look sooooo sinister! Especially with those black wheels. I love it!

I'm 73 and the only thing my dad ever gave me bad advice on was a black 57 Bel Air, three on the tree, 283, that only had 22,000 miles on it. He said get a newer car. I followed his advice and got a 67 SS 350 convertible Camaro. Still have it 55 years later. Nice ride!

Hard to understand why someone would have and had to special order a base model Chevy 150 to include fuel injection. Most of the cars with this option (and there weren't many) were Bel Aires. Maybe the guy was curious or forward thinking but didn't have the dough to go 'all out' for the Bel Aire? Happily, if this vehicle had this option as part of it's build spec, it is a VERY rare and therefore collectible car today!

These were never this nice new! Too bad a lot of old fuelie cars got converted to carbs, if you didn't know how to keep it tuned it would either start on fire or never start again......subscribed! Keep em coming!

    • @lostsoul3154
      @lostsoul3154 3 года назад

Yes sir a lot of units got put in the back room for a carb setup. Those things are at a premium now.

I'm a Mopar guy but the 57 Black Widow's are one of my favorite Chevy's ever made. The first real high performance cars that Chevy ever had are the 57 fuelie cars. I like the bare bones stripper 150's and 210's better than the Bel Air's. I believe the Black Widow's were 150 2 door post sedans. The 57 Ford's with the supercharged 312 Y-Blocks were awesome cars too. NASCAR banned both the blown Ford's and the fuelie Chevy's before the 57 season even ended I think. The Tri Power setup on the 57 Pontiac's and Oldsmobile's got banned by NASCAR too all at the same time. 1957 was an awesome year for cars...the beginning of the Detroit horsepower wars. Mopar had some sweet rides in 57 too...the Chrysler 300, DeSoto Adventurer, Dodge Super D-500, and Plymouth Fury. The 55 Chrysler 300 is the first American muscle car...the first ever American production car with 300 horsepower. They completely dominated NASCAR in 1955-56. Neither GM or Ford had anything that could compete with the Mopar's until 57

Reverse heel and toeing a shoebox, way to go! Wonder if moonshine bootleggers, a.k.a. NASCAR founding racers, knew how to do it back in the day! Come to think about it, it must be a necessity back in those all drums, no power brakes days. I once drove an automatic Ford Maverick with no power brakes and stuffed full with passengers, scariest driving experience ever! Good thing we were on a funeral procession, otherwise I might have gotten in real trouble real fast! Come to think about it, reverse heel and toe makes absolute sense, as you need to put a lot of pressure on that brake pedal to elicit any kind of stopping power from those unassisted drums!

I was told that Chevy only made 6 of these for NASCAR. It was the lightest sedan body with the most powerful engine available. They had a nick name, but I can't remember it. Something like Black Widow.

WOW, AMAZING paint, I doubt factory? So did that come with the solid cam and upgraded heads as part of the FI package?
Must have had some good advice on parts finding and tuning, be nice to know some history as to where it came from, prior condition, etc but that's better than new

I bet this overestored car never will take a 700 mile trip damn scared to get it out and run hard... grandad worked in engine division with GM
Ramjet injection was misunderstood .. thankfully he taught me how to fix and maintain the 7 ramjet vehicles he owned #1 rule of having
One around the block drive is no no ... like this video. Good way to ruin it ... when I take one of his out 5 min warm up 15 mph for 2 miles then 2
Lane black top near farm shop 28 miles straight run farm road flat out you can't drive a ramjet like a little Disney princess ... they need exercise
I have to drive his other GM cars the same .. had the 65 corvette out today 396 /425 .... surgery scheduled for next week to remove grin ..lmao 🤣
