You need batteries, a radio, blankets, and maybe a small charger like a for your cell phones and stuff. You should put some solar lights around that storm shelter and that way you can find it in the night and also you could take the the solar lights downstairs with you so you can have light without wasting your batteries
Always keep the kids bicycle helmets handy for tornado sheltering whether its under the stairs, in a safe room or shelter, or in the bathtub. We used to keep our under the stairs in the basement along with a case of bottled water, and an old mattress to cover up with if needed. We also packed a small back pack on days of bad weather with food bars and high protein snacks, toilet paper and pain medication, and a small medical kit. Buckets are good because they have multi use. They can hold things, upside down stool, scoop water if there is flooding, good for many things. Girl scouts used to make a recovery bucket with all their emergency overnight supplies in it and cover it with a homemade cloth pillow for sitting. That might be a great craft idea for the girls. I'm sure you can look it up on the web. Our girls kept theirs for years, for camping and sheltering when needed.
My neighbor used to go to the BAKERY AND GET OLD BREAD AND THINGS FOR FREE AND ATE SOME AND FED THE HOGS THE MOST. THEY LOVED IT.
That ain’t no Oklahoma weather. It’s the weather controllers. Stay safe.

I hope you never have to use the shelter. A few years ago we took a direct hit from a tornado and we didn’t even have time to get to the basement!

I have mentioned to everyone building a new house, to plan and put in a basement. Top priority as you know now. Your neighbor's shelter is too far away. You might need to take cover in 3 minutes!
Thankfully the one we are having installed will be right beside our back porch

We had tornadoes in January in Griffin, Georgia trees broke in my yard damaged my car and truck. Most damage was from trees falling causing a lot of damage.

Yes it's been crazy weather here in Northeast Missouri alot of rain and and close calls with tornadoes but okay. So glad you all were safe been praying for all my you tube families. Some not fairing well like Lester and Jami and all of Morrow Hill then of coarse Arms Family and there community. We've continued prayers and will for you all cause these storms coming. Be careful of water trapped in them. If for some reason you can't get out, you don't want water to rise inside. Hope you all stay well. I've been praying for everyone involved in the storms.

Yes. I would dig a trench with a drain hose with holes in it to take water away from the shelter.

Water container for the dog. Puppy pad just in case. We needed this only once and glad we had it and a couple garbage bags.

Hi Brandy & Hope ~ praying that you stay safe. Glad that you’re vigilant during this time. I live on Cape Cod, MA and have had a tornado which is rare for the Cape a few years back. Our stormy season starts late August/September through November and is Hurricane season. Again, stay safe 🌻🙏🏻

I live in Pennà. We don't have tornados but we do get storms and they scare me so much. Watching those tornados in Oklahoma and that area were so scary and I had dreams of them at night. When Daniel and DeeJay Arms lost their baby donkey, a week old, never to be found..I cried. My thoughts and prayers to all of those dealing with these terrifying storms. God love you! And to those helping with the clean up....THANK YOU! ❤❤❤❤❤

Thanks to the neighbor for offering shelter for y’all. I remember your shelter on your former land. It’s been a crazy spring for OK and TX. Glad Shawn is there to get y’all settled safely. Piggies need a trough for feeding now that they have grown. Hope is a great helper. Seems just naturally understands what to do. Don’t forget a porta-potty. Paper towel and toilet paper. I like the little Angel watching over the shelter. Look underneath those chairs for spiders. Good clean up . Leave room in the shelter for yourselves.. 😳 😏where are the German Shepards? Be safe…

No tornadoes, can get very heavy rain, live near a river, but most of year very little water, during rains will get high, no problem, most of our city is on hills. No we are not in Earth quake zone . Love 💕 your program, I am from ,California and had floods, and earthquake, Love it here. Been in Mexico since 1993. Be safe.Love Diane

We live at the north east end of tornado alley . NW Ohio . There have been few , but nithing where we live . The last bad one we had was in 02 or 03 . It was close enough to shake our house . Hope and pray yall will be okay . Seeya

I also have heard Dutch call him the crazy neighbor 🤪 but I have always gotten the feeling that he was saying that in a very tongue in cheek manner . I am the woman from Chouteau. Call Mayes county emergency management to register your storm shelter when you get it. This way they know where to look for the shelter in case something is on top of it after storm.
My storm shelter is about 15 feet from my house. I had a covered area built over it about 24x24 to help keep me from getting soaked with rain. As you well know the stairs down into the shelter is hard to manage if stairs are wet or if your older like me…. lol the way my house is designed I can go from my door to the shelter without getting rained on, way safer for me. I have had 22 people in my storm shelter at one time mostly children due to a birthday party and storm rolled in.
