Hey Bulldog - The Beatles Cover by MonaLisa Twins
Recorded at the Cavern Club in Mathew Street, Liverpool during our 100th and last residency show in 2016.

While we are working on new music, videos and recordings for a release later in the year, we decided to go back into the archives and post a series of "Live at the Cavern Club" videos, previously only available to MLT Club members. Something fun to bridge the gap until we finish some of our current projects.
So, from now on, until about Mid-August we will upload a new video every week from our days at Liverpool's famous Cavern Club. Since it also happens to be "Global Beatles Day" today, we will kick it off with a Fab 4 cover of "Hey Bulldog", one of their weirdest but certainly most wonderful songs. :-) We will change it up between originals, Beatles and other 60's covers these next few weeks.

Sounds pretty good, but I liked the rendition in early 1970s by "FANNY"!😢
They covered the tune well but The Beatles version was more edgy or a bit harder.

This is a great cover of an underrated classic. You're so great live, with the give and take and interaction, doubling the lines on guitars and vocals, taking leads, singing and yeah, barking. That's classic MonaLisa Twins, all your live strengths in one song. Awesome.

I was learning to play guitar in the early 2000s, when the best way to learn was by finding tabs online. RUclips didn't exist, and I'd never heard the song before. But I wanted to learn it because I like bulldogs. That's was my reason for learning to play it. But now I just like to play it on guitar because I like how it sounds. I think the first time I heard the original version was several years later when I rented Yellow Submarine from the library.
As a Beatles and a dog fan, I'm very happy with this grooooooooviest cover ever!!!

One of my bucket list items is to see Mona and Lisa play live in a place like the Cavern Club again. They bring such joy to everything they do! In the meantime, I'll have to settle for all the great music and videos on the MonaLisa Twins Club page. Definitely worth the price of admission!

So polite. I had a band and we played this house party they called Ridgewoodstock- house band. We did a cover of "Hey Bulldog" and I sang and played lead guitar like the babe with the orange hair and another guy in my band played both keyboard and rhythm guitar while singing backup. We actually did alright all things considered- that was probably our best song and I could rip through that solo. I guess it was played by George but it sounds like a John solo. I think I was most glad about teaching and getting the bassist to play the bass part. Usually I want to play bass when I'm playing Beatles songs. I learned all of Rubber Soul on bass.
I have had Bulldogs in my life since I was a Pup...and I have always loved this Beatles "Classic"! You all were having such FUN on this tune...definitely on a mission but windows down and hair in the air as you fly down the road towards The Dog Pound! There will be "Treats" waiting there for you two from my Bulldog Jack Boy! 😍 As Always ...Awesome Share! Cheers From Across The Pond In Ohio

check out the American group Fanny version of Hey Bulldog from their 1971 Beat-Club sessions. Their version is grittier and includes another verse written by their keyboard player Nickey Barclay which was approved of by the Beatles per their website.
I checked them out. I wasn't sure how I felt about them at first, but by the time they finished Hey Bulldog, I was a fan. I was in high school in 1971. I can't believe I had never heard of them. They were first class first class musicians/rockers. Thanks for turning me on to them.
