Talk about an underrated Beatles song!
From the minute we first tried “Tell Me Why” during a rehearsal we knew it would be a great addition to the Cavern Club set. It screams “1964”, doesn’t it? Solid 3-part harmonies and some high energy 60s pop.
It’s hard to understand why this song wasn’t a single … until you look at the rest of the “A Hard Day’s Night” track-list and realise that you could say the same about any of the songs!
We don’t need to tell you how much we loved playing this, we think it shows 😉 Big shoutout to Charlie Skeggs on drums and Callum Williams on bass!

Great job. Good swinging rhythm and harmonies (which are NOT easy).
The Mona Lisa Twins have given The Beatles a run for their money. They didn't write the songs but they sure can sing them.

What a great Beatles song. Very underrated. It is perfect for the MonaLisa harmonies. The Cavern Club show is an absolute gem in the Mona Lisa Twins Club.
Underrated by who?, this song got as much radio play as any of their other songs.

@@perwium6873 I only said underrated because it was never made into a single. Maybe the Beatles or George Martin didn't think it was good enough. It's a fantastic song and I've always liked it. I love this version too. Mona has a great voice for this song.
@@timtv2826 Well - many of the 13 songs of AHDN (the best album in my life) was not singles...
It made it to the movie!!! - so it was not underrated.
I think that "I'll cry instead" is a bit underrated...
@@perwium6873 Yeah, they had a lot of great songs on many of their albums that were never singles. Probably why they sold so many albums. No worries, it's all good. Keep rockin'
I spent a year in Vienna in the 1980's and, among all the many wonderful things about the city were the cool, little clubs where you could still dance to rockers of the '50's and early '60's. Somehow it doesn't surprise me that these wonderfully talented sisters are from Old Vienna. Bless their hearts.
This brings me to a place in the 1960's when The Beatles released this. Mona and Lisa you are so very good at what you do!

It's not the original Cavern. The original was blocked up decades ago, sadly. Paul has played in this new venue though.

The Beatles final show after nearly 300 performances at the Cavern Club was on August 3rd, 1963.
On December 14th, 1999 Paul McCartney played the new location Cavern Club with backing musicians David Gilmour, Mick Green, Ian Paice and Pete Wingfield.
When I saw the girls live in 2016, this was my top highlight of the evening. Terrific performance.
If you ever play the Cavern again, I'll be flying from the Midwest USA to see it. Really like the new cd. LOVE "Any other day" !!!

Joyfully swingy, happy, rocking, and a harmonious double-lead, like the MLT, and one of my all-time favorite songs since I discovered it at eight years old, long before you two made the scene. This has actually spent time as my number one Beatles song, and topped my old buddy Jeff's Beatles list, too. It swings, and y'all just nailed it. To quote from the same album, I'll Be Back...

WOW!! This from "A Hard Day's Night" album and John wrote nine of the thirteen tracks on the album!! John was a little dominant at least during this period!! Paul's songs "And I love her" "Can't buy me love" "Things we said today" were great but John was on a roll!!

"Tell me why" has always been a favorite of mine, ever since it was first released. I'm amazed that I like as much at 70 as I did at 12.
Not surprisingly, the MonaLisa Twins absolutely nailed it. This is good enough that I'm just going to have to spring for the entrance fee to the MLT club -- I want all that MLT Cavern Club material. :)
It's well worth the admission. Lots of material you can't get on RUclips. Some you can't even get on their CDs.

Perfectly done. Aside from the main harmonies which were great, I love the bass line on this song.

I could never make out that falsetto part as it is was always a bit muddy in the Beatles version. the lyrics are now clear. A great barnstorming performance by the MLT of a fine catchy Beatles pop song that is often overlooked.

Mona definitely had a John Lennon sound to her vocal so well done. When I saw Tell Me Why, I was thinking of "Ask Me Why" which is another great song from their first album. I'll have to check whether you have done that song. If not, you should do it. Great cover of Tell Me Why.
