I normally try and wait until the end to leave my comment, but the introduction about how abuse works from the inside is... incredibly accurate. As someone who's out of one, it's easy to see in hindsight, but it's dead-on about how the victim blames themselves, having to stop and comfort the abuser, having to apologize for their behavior... It really is hard to leave, and then even once you know you want to, yeah there's always that danger. Thank you to dreading for always being gentle and sensitive with the victims (of which there are so, so many in this case) and also taking the time to explain their side of it. Many youtubers will do the boiler-plate message of "its not easy and you dont understand unless you're in it" but not really elaborate further (which is fine; not a knock against them) - I just appreciate the thought and care that goes into your explanations. I hope everyone on the dreading team is safe and well! Your empathy is always so incredibly spot-on, just want to make sure you guys are also staying safe out there, and thank you as always for your efforts on these videos.
Thank you for acknowledging and describing the manipulative coercive control exerted by abusers over their victims. Even the strongest, brightest person can be manipulated like this. It's a long, relentless process that can continue for years.
I’m a survivor of domestic violence. I can’t tell you the amount of people especially women who will defend the abuser and question you about why you didn’t leave. The ties that bind you to your abuser aren’t always physical and are almost always psychological. My abuser had me living with him, working with his family and was always in contact with me. It sounds dumb but when you’re told no one loves you, that you’re worthless and not allowed to talk to anyone daily you really start to believe it. Unless you’ve gone through that it’s really hard to understand why you would stay or why you would love your abuser. The people that abuse are really good at what they do and the methods they use are effective which is why so many find themselves being abused
I am sorry this happened to you and also to me It’s Amazing how when told repeatedly how you Eventually believe what someone else tells you Even if you started out strong and have good self image and confidence…it tears you apart!! Thankfully we’re survivors
Some of the most hurtful, malicious comments made to me irt being sexually assaulted have come from other victims, almost always women. @@mizeryluvkompany You are making assumptions about me and my standards, yet you don't know me. No, not all music is simple and repetitive, Bach isn't, Dream Theater isn't, Emerson, Lake and Palmer isn't. Kelly's music is. The thing this channel does best is the analysis of every individual argument that R Kelly (Sarah Boone, Anthony Todt, you name ‘em) makes. He picks it apart before even giving it a chance to convince you with its stupidity. For someone not trained formally in advocacy, or debate, it’s great to see him pick them apart so quickly, effortlessly, and decisively. Bravo. From a litigating attorney, it is truly appreciated. And the Gail King interview obviously completely destroyed R. Kelly. Nothing better than warning your client if he says what he wants to say he will implode his life; and then watching him say it, and implode his life faster than you could have predicted.

Dreading is one of my, if not most, favorite channels. The level of detail, complexies to which you delve into, the overall approach to each and every single video put out.... I appreciate and love it. I've been following for quite a few years now, and every time I get a notification, I instantly play. This work has been difficult but fascinating to listen to. I was always weirded out by Robert and his music. When Dave Chappelle put out his skit on Robert, that's when I realized what actually was going on (I was only 15) and knowing what I had been through unwilling by that age with someone with no real power or money, it was horrifying to think about how extra my experience could have been if the man had money, power and the love of fans. While it took FAR too long to bring him to the hammer of justice, I'm happy that it finally happened. It's passed time for people of money and means to be held accountable for taking advantage and being a monster.
@ I wasn’t born in the US so I didn’t get to hear the songs back when they were hits - but yeah I’m sure a lot of other songs we jam to currently may turn out to have different meanings in the future 😬
The interview where he throws a series of tantrums is so satisfying. It's small consolation for the victims and might even be entirely calculated faked emotions to try to regain control of the situation... But fuck it, it's good to see him freak out and know it's just one more thing that tipped public opinion against him.

The first time I heard the "🎶 Ethiopian girls, are you ready to get trafficked 🎶" song, I thought it was dubbed over and a joke. Years later and I'm still wrapping my head around the fact that he actually did that

Yes, you put how that feels for me into words FOR me. Could anyone imagine the uproar if like, friggin New Direction had some ten-minute long plea for their fans to start throwing their passports and panties on the stage? Funny what one's allowed to do to the darker-shaded women of the world, and by a POC to boot.

Society knows nothing of Battered Women’s Syndrome. It’s a psychological malady.
So many people say something like 'oh that would never happen to me' and those are the ones these assholes seek out 😂
I’m a survivor of domestic violence.

@@mizeryluvkompany You are making assumptions about me and my standards, yet you don't know me. The thing this channel does best is the analysis of every individual argument that R Kelly (Sarah Boone, Anthony Todt, you name ‘em) makes. Me too! Very in-depth.
I had to mute that Huff Post interview and read the subtitles, he was beyond irritating. Man who loves the sound of his own voice going on a tangent about how much everyone else does too.
Not only is the come to America segment strange and disturbing. The fact half of it is off key makes it even worse.
Yeah the singing was bad, the band was tight tho
Why would he compare his relationship with his children as them being girlfriends?
On a television interview.
OH-MY-GOD
17:22 Yikes! He's on tour in another country and on stage asking for single ladies... 🤦♀️ Why did they "break up" for? Smh!
The back-up singer singing "to America..." is crazy... that whole video is WILD.
🤣
had NO idea how bad this was. just casually hearing things in the news did not do justice for the victims. what a sin this monster was allowed to harm so many ppl for so long. Much appreciated for this coverage and getting this information into the zeitgeist.
