Mate, it's such a lift when I see you've dropped a vlog. Finding your videos got me through a pretty dark patch a few years ago and although I'm doing better at the moment, they still raise the spirits.
Hi Mark. I had a similar problem of “clicking” on my Titanium gravel bike, drove me mad, suffered for nearly a year. Noise got louder under power, I was convinced it was drivetrain related. I tried everything to resolve - eventually discovered it was the interface between the rear wheel alloy dropout and the titanium frame, (the alloy dropout also contained the 12mm through axle thread), in my case on the opposite side to the drive. Once grease was applied between the alloy dropout and the titanium frame the noise disappeared instantly. If I hadn’t experienced it myself I wouldn’t have believed it.
Cam Nicholis was convinced he had creaky wheels, Took the bike to a shop, mechanic greases everything, noise disappears. ruclips.net/video/uxeE0XFO7OI/видео.html
I recently have the same issue with my ti bike it only happens when I go full power, rocking the bike. When I sit down, pedal smoothly. I hear nothing. Thanks for the advise
Your videos make me miss Melbourne, we went regional a few years ago and while generally the move has been Ok the cycling has suffered through lack of motivation. Glad to see your riding, and enjoying it rather than filming every second. Btw love the videos too.
Good stuff man! The opening scenes are fantastic! I have always wanted to visit NZ. With my bike. Long live long rides (& bikepacking)! Cheers from Florida, USA 👍
Very nice, I'm East Coast US, so NZ is an exotic place for me. I was in Christchurch twice in 1987 and 1990. Not as many cyclists then, certainly not MTBs. I spent 3 months cycling around the country. This video really makes me nostalgic for those memories, thanks.
Only just got around to watching this……… as enjoyable and quality as ever Mark. New Zealand looks amazing, and would love to have hills on the doorstep unlike York, where you have at least an hours ride to the decent hills! I know what you mean, having ambition to do this and that (I am the same) but with 3 kids it’s pretty rare it happens. Just makes you enjoy it so much more when it does happen I suppose. And best to take all expectation away I think. Looking forward to the next one mate. By the way, those factor bikes are stunning. Would be good to see the new one abit up close if you get a chance. Love your 2019 black one too. Good to see your passion for cycling lives on despite the busy life, as does mine. Take it easy.
6:47 ish- Gebbes Pass and onto Summit Rd (the barstoid). 7:25 ish- Drop down to Sumner via Evans Pass (if you turn right instead, the new road down to lyttelton and back up is 👌) Gearing is your friend, better to be looking at it than looking for it 😉 Glad you enjoyed my back yard 🍻 When this pandemic is over I'm looking forward to visiting Melbourne again and do a run from Richmond to Mordi, love that ride 🙂
Fantastic video Mark, those are the cycling roads I love, I grew up in Tai Tapu. The climb you did up to the Summit Road is my favourite. Would have been cool to have met you out on the road. Next time you are in Christchurch you should organise a Maven group ride.
I personally feel that you cannot compare the Ti clicking noise to the ‘same’ group set on the Factor carbon bike. The biggest difference is GXP bottom bracket vs press fit. But as someone said below, could be as simple as applying grease between alu dropout and Ti frame.
I notice your long haul trucker has got spd/flat combo pedals. Do you use the flat side often? I've had them on my commuter/shopper for two years, and I think I've used the flat side once. Do your intentions match reality?
Maven you cracking cucumber ~ loved this video my man. Keep making them even if it is once every few months so the maven fam know you okay! ~ saw talk of a chch group ride, Wellington to please, maven tour!
MAVEN ❤️
Bike life is the best life!
Adelaide is the best city on earth for cycling. I've travelled all over the globe.
have you been to Orlova? :-)
Those opening scenes are epic. Beautifully shot. Really professional filming.

The only RUclipsr whose videos I don’t just watch straight away - I’m saving this bad boy for the right time and place!

Your back! 2 kiddos now. Quality content as usual. Maven on!
We've missed you.
Happy to see you enjoying the bike. I believe the true enjoyment of riding is this type of riding and not striving to be like a racer.
I see a Maven video I click!
Lived in ChCh the last couple of years, it's an epic spot for cycling. Great vid!
So Nice to see your back Mr. Cycling Maven… big hurra 🎉 from Denmark 🇩🇰
Your videos make me miss Melbourne, we went regional a few years ago and while generally the move has been Ok the cycling has suffered through lack of motivation. Glad to see your riding, and enjoying it rather than filming every second. Btw love the videos too.
Awww getting nostalgic. Lived there for seven years.

Uplifting Mark. Been all over Nz. Riding. I’m a Brit
Loved this, looking good mate, best wishes to the family.
Quality not quantity is a great format I reckon....and I got a bit nostalgic for the port hills shots, be 25 years since I last saw them...
18.15 - That was not a fail. Jumping in puddles is what it is all about for small humans.
Family Maven…adorable
And to think you were staying within a KM of me... looking for to the Maven ride next time. Great video as always
Opening shot under the gondola - rode that this morning. Nice day up there, but not as good as you had it!

What happened at the end? 😁
Welcome back. Happy for your family
Beautiful

Cracking human as always \m/

Lookin forward to the next ones, nice bike that Factor… but the O2 is for rocking up hills not sitting on an indoor trainer 😬🤭
Nice one Maven, loving your work.
I'd be curious to know more about the mysterious creak on your Ti bike, any link to the vlog of the next owner?
A child jumping in a puddle is not a "fail". It's fun.
I think u climbed gebbies pass then turn onto summit road AKA as "the bastard"
Maven you cracking cucumber ~ loved this video my man. Keep making them even if it is once every few months so the maven fam know you okay! ~ saw talk of a chch group ride, Wellington to please, maven tour!
