Hey Schaz, thanks for the review - appreciate the work that goes into it. just a little confirmation - my wife and I both use the car and I use Android while the wife uses Apple - just wanted to confirm that both our phones will connect to it and display the corresponding app on the car's Screen.

Yes, this works for both Android and iPhones. But you can connect only one phone at any given time

It uses the Bluetooth for the initial setup after that from what I understand it connects via Wi-fi

Thanks but the negative point is on my Toyota Yaris Hybrid, brand new, it cannotbe reckognized when pushing the voice command key on the wheel, have to go to the screen, this is not good at all. It says, no device reckognized. This is really bad, since this is essential !

Thank you for the video, I had two questions, one of which was answered. Oddly the CarlinKit 4.0 cheated the Android Auto connection by connecting as CarPlay and doing some screen magic to display Android Auto. @9:55 it does appear that the 5.0 connects natively as Android Auto. I do have a second question. You mentioned at about @3:53 about full-screen views. In your other car, you could go full screen on a widescreen infotainment unit. The reason I ask is that the CarlinKit 4.0 did, but it cheated it, it would stretch the screen so squares were rectangles and circles were ovals. It wasn't using the native resolution. Curious how Android Auto looks full screen in your other car. Specifically are squares square, and circles circular?

Unfortunately I dont have the device with me anymore so I cant test it for you. But generally these devices reclaibrate to screen size automatically. I have experienced that with almost all devices

@@MinistryReviewsSchaz Thank you. I was able to confirm this information somewhere else. The 5.0 works the way it should. It appears the screen issue with the 4.0 may have been an artifact of connecting Android Auto through the CarPlay connection. I have been able to confirm the correct screen aspect of the 5.0 and that it natively connects to Android Auto. At least the information I've found suggests so. I've ordered a 5.0.

Nice review as always, thank you so much.
I also have a some questions:
    1. Can Android Auto work with cars only has Apple CarPlay? Like the Carlinkit 4.0?
    2. Does Android Auto work with widescreen normally without resolution issues and stretching? Because I have this issue with Carlinkit 4.0 and I contacted Carlinkit support many times but they never give me solutions.
    Thank you,

Hey Schaz, I bought the 4.0 previously and a lot of disconnections so i seitched to Ottocast play2video.
The Ottocast was working perfectly for around 3 weeks and then it stopped connecting.
I'm considering the 5.0 but I'm afraid it will keep disconnecting, similar to the 4.0.
Did you face any disconnections with the 5.0? And did you notice any dip in the picture quality when using Android Auto wirelessly in the 5.0?

    • @MinistryReviewsSchaz
