It seems clear (outside of his worst impulses being amplified there) that the same force that’s tormenting him is what’s keeping him mentally held there. I cannot believe the level of Alicent’s hypocrisy. She REALLY thought she - as a woman - could make a power grab without her daddy Otto by her side. That it’s male heir system of succession is the whole reason Aegon was put on the throne. Her validation - back when she thought Viscerys gave it wasn’t what put him there.

When he's not under the spell, he's still the same cocky Daemon. Inside dreams, he must be different so that we, as viewers, can finally look at him without a mask. Otherwise, he would go through the entire series in one role and we would never have looked at all the demons inside him.
@@beden653 I hope it’s just Harrenhall messing with him (giving him some of the arrogance and cruelty of Harren the Black) and not just character assassination. He’s not a good guy by any means but they’ve thrown his sense of loyalty to his house out the window.

Slow episode for sure but so much was built up in it that is leading into future events that no one is ready for!!! I have so many thoughts that i'l add into my online review!!!!
This episode is very GOT. Season 1 and 2 of the show are extremely slow. But now some of the same fans complain, i guess its a sign of the times where people have just shorter patience or attention span
