I love how Botter incorporated the simplicity of a monoblock chair into their work but the story behind it shows the dichotomy between different cultures' views of that chair and the value they place on it. Great video, Bliss!
Being from Brazil and also seeing the monobloco chair as a unconscious essential to our life, this was an amazing thing to see

The part in which he was talking about when his mom told him to cut down his hair because it didn’t look neat really connected with me. As a black kid, we feel pressure to always look presentable and to try and fit in society so I completely understand were he’s coming from
Yesssss. And for me that "presentable" is in big quotes. Who gets to decide that our natural hair, bug or small, isn't presentable?
This was infinitely encouraging to know that even amazing designers go through the roller coaster of chaos when setting a runway up and preparing for the big reveal because it means that they care about what they do. It doesn't mean you aren't skilled, it doesn't mean you didn't plan everything out it just means that you want to show people your vision and I think the message means a lot to me
I study fashion at F.I.T in NYC and this just pushed me to complete all my finals lol. This was so beautiful to watch. Thank you and PLEASE make more videos like this!!

Good luck!! This IS exigent. And can be perfectly imperfect, or a pest. Depend of you choices and bit of luck 🍀. "Spy" the more you can the company you’re going to work in….the position is new or he/she left, why, more people left?…adapt to cv to perfection and portfolio as soon as a new workart deserves it. Make connections. Idk im just a pure fashion designer/cAd in illustator and corell draw and CD….. but i even do pattern cutter. Now im back to my country bc i’m ill and all i think is be able work again for fashion.

Wow! Botter slayed that runway! The colours were awesome and The bead work was incredible to see how complex and tricky it was to pull off with a finish that neither looked contrived or over-wrought. Fashion doesn’t have to be utilitarian as some other designers I love preach, so I’m happy with myself that I can enjoy other less practical pathways. Your content is so good Bliss - it really is of rare quality and intelligence. Thank you so much!

Got the chance to go to Curacao this last year and it was incredible to see how the streetscapes, colors, signage, and general culture of the island have bled into Botter's work. Never seen a designer use the Caribbean influences like this. Great documentary as well, Bliss don't miss!
I know nothing about fashion but this felt like a really good look into how these shows work. That was so cool.

I am over the moon obsessed with this video! Your interviewing was fantastic and the designers were so genuine. I loved the glimpse you gave into the fashion world. It made designing real and tangible rather than something mythical and unattainable.
Bliss, this was an amazing documentary! I drew so much knowledge and inspiration from this snippet of Botter’s design and runway show process. You’re really giving Loic Prigent a run for his money. 😜
Brrrroooo.....the first sentence......100% real truth. I am an aspiring designer and ...i can't express how true it is; I was just telling myself I in the MOST difficult industries there is....basically trying to predict IF folk gone like what I did or not
Amazing documentary so far as I haven't finished yet. Adding on to the refrence for the beaded wig: its very reminiscent of how many african tribes (Zulu, Mursi, Himba, etc) use beads/trinkets as headdresses or on braided hair. Of course there are too many tribes to name all. Many black people outside of africa even grew up using and still use beads in braids now. It just goes to show that nothing is invented, only innovated! It's an excellent example of how to take tradition and modernize it!
Those beaded wigs are amazing! Beautiful! Congratulations to Botter and to you, Bliss, on your interview/documentary. I love that they’re not pretentious, very real and conceptual all at once. That’s a win, IMHO, good stuff.
the colors are beautiful, but I'm particularly impressed with how the fabrics fall beautifully and move so well on the body.
