    Brilliant idea w/ the picture opacity. I'll definitely be adding that this year. My projectors mostly the cheaper LED projectors from ebay for 60-70 bucks, so I need all the luminosity I can get. I thought of a cool idea you could add for some additional effects on the cheap. Sound or motion activated lightning flashes with an arduino, microphone or motion sensor, relay, and 5m strip of clear LED lights...you could build in a triggered lightning system...just figured I'd throw out the idea...I love this stuff :)

    Wow! I absolutely love your Halloween House....it looks great. It's so spooky, and I love the sound effects too. I love when ppl put that much time and money into making their house look scary for Halloween. It just makes trick or treating so much more fun. Great Job!!!

      Thank you! It's exactly why I do it. As a kid, I always appreciated when people went over the top for Halloween, just as some do for Christmas.

    I bought the frosted shower curtain liner , but it seems there's too much background light around the apparitions ..is it because of the lighter screen ? do I need to go to the gray mesh to have the black background ?

    what kind of projection material did you get from www.rosebrand.com website?

  • @okyguzman8916

    One questions. According to atmosfearfx.com. A 1800 lumens projector is recommended. I was wondering if your 60$ bucks projector is 1800 lumens. If don't what is the luminous intensity or lumens? Thanks in advance!

    i know this vid is old but what's the difference if you use this material or the white shower curtain?

    • @ZombieHaunter408
      @ZombieHaunter408  8 лет назад +1

      The frosted gray materials is supposed to be the best choice for better contrast when rear projecting and it's the best choice to use in a window, otherwise your window will look like you have a white sheet hung up between shots. People have used a clear, frosted shower curtain (not white) and it has worked just fine.

    Hi Zombie, what's the projection material you use...tried using cloudy shower curtains last year, and the effects we kind of 'eh' and blurry. Any tips?

    • @ZombieHaunter408
      @ZombieHaunter408  7 лет назад +1

      It's actual material they sell for the stage/production industry, but don't let that scare you. It cost $20 in material. Google rear projection screen material and you should find a suitable alternative to the shower curtain. I bought mine from a company called Rose Brand (www.rosebrand.com).

    • @ZombieHaunter408
      @ZombieHaunter408  9 лет назад

      Wilder Rua If you are playing movies, definitely purchase the frosted gray material or shower curtain. White will not yield the best results. Making your own frame and stretching the screen carefully will prevent any wrinkles.

    • @ZombieHaunter408
      @ZombieHaunter408  8 лет назад

      Hi Shawn. Sorry for the delay. For this effect, the best material is an opaque, or frosted material. It is not clear, so if you say "solid (frosted)" that you cannot see through, but light is able to pass through (hence opaque) then you should be fine. Again, there are websites that you can purchase rear projection material from directly.

    How do you get audio outside if the projector and computer are inside the house?

    • @ZombieHaunter408
      @ZombieHaunter408  5 лет назад

      I've never put audio outside. I just don't think it's needed. I guess you could airplay it to speakers outside or something or run your own wiring.

    I bought 4 of their dvds and a projector this year. How did you get the clips on your ipad?

    • @ZombieHaunter408
      @ZombieHaunter408  9 лет назад

      +Tracy McMillen Hi Tracy. You would have to rip the DVDs to your computer and then export them as MP4 files. Then, import them to your iPad. It's tricky if you are not computer savvy, but doable. Just google "how to rip a DVD to your computer". That's the first major step. Then you can use a video editing program to make one continuous clip using your favorites from each DVD. I hope this helps.

    How do you add speaker with projection to play outside

    • @ZombieHaunter408
      @ZombieHaunter408  8 лет назад

      Whatever you're using for your input into the project would need an audio signal sent to an amplifier, which is connected to speakers outside. Or, you could use a bluetooth device etc.

      AngryAdo They have a lot of options and it's kind of a labyrinth to navigate their website. Just find material suitable for rear projection. Again, I've heard people have used a gray, translucent shower curtain-much easier to find locally I'm sure.

  • @threshanimations7430

    Hi there really great video btw!
    I was wondering if you can see behind the screen as it might be distracting.
    I'm interested in using the method alongside stop motion animation to create a backdrop which I can change using a laptop. As using monitors probably wouldn't work that well when taking high resolution images.
    Would clear perspex work instead of glass?
    Any information would be really appreciated thanks.

    • @ZombieHaunter408
      @ZombieHaunter408  8 лет назад

      No, you can't see behind the screen. I'm intrigued by your idea--it might work really well for you. This is not glass--it's a translucent vinyl placed over glass (not mounted to, just placed an inch behind it. So, to answer your question, you don't even need glass, just the translucent material to project onto.

    • @threshanimations7430
      @threshanimations7430 8 лет назад

      Hi, thanks for the response it was very helpful.
      If all is well then I could see it working like a green screen without the hassle of editing and the bonus of lighting the set realistically.
      Do you have a suggestion for which translucent material I could use? Preferably cheaper to see if it works at all. Many thanks!

    • @ZombieHaunter408
      @ZombieHaunter408  8 лет назад

      A frosted, gray, translucent material is best---so try using a frosted shower curtain or go to this website and look for "rear projection material" www.rosebrand.com/category12/projection-screens.aspx

    awesome.. but i think the size of the video to the window and the house is not proportional.. it looks bigger... audience may think right away that its just a projector.. not so believable... but still awesome..

    • @ZombieHaunter408
      @ZombieHaunter408  9 лет назад +2

      Allan Canlas Thanks Allan. I decided to maximize the size of the video to fit the window. It was much more impressive to have the video a bit larger for people driving by at a distance. This got RAVE reviews from the entire neighborhood. Great observation though--thank you for sharing that.

    Ummm yeah. Not that technical.. Have no clue what the hell your doing.. I have the save DVDs however I just had enough issues trying to line up the projector and connecting speakers up outside my window and getting this dark material right.. Apparently I got a white shower curtain I'm guessing all wrong.. I'm so annoyed with this. I know atmosphere fx now has their own self adhesive material to put on the window.. I bought double sided tape for this bit I'm thinking now I will just using a shower curtain rod that expands and just tape the curtain over it.. Thanks for this tutorial. It looks great!

    • @ZombieHaunter408
      @ZombieHaunter408  6 лет назад

      Thanks. This is a hologram on a window. A hollusion refers to an image projected on a mesh fabric (like scrim or bridal mesh) that is hung in an open space. I'll be doing this on my rooftop this year and I'll post a follow up video.

    • @jco685
      @jco685 6 лет назад

      I guess I'm quibbling over words. To me, if the character isn't transparent (i.e. you can see THROUGH the character to the environment behind it) it's not a hologram. And you can put mesh in a window and have the character be transparent so you can see what's in the room. Like I said, splitting hairs. Anyway, it IS a well-done effect and a well-done video. I'm looking forward to seeing your rooftop thing.
