Looking back at all this it’s pretty cool just how much this game has shifted since it’s original concept around 2017. If you didn’t know Pizza Tower was once gonna be a semi platformer/horror game hybrid titled Pizza Massacre based around the mechanics of the Resident Evil franchise. Pretty cool stuff!

To be fair, the way they handled the finale mid-battle boss rush is one of the things that make this game stand out. Peppino expressing all the rage and frustration gamers have had at boss rushes over time to open a can of italian woopass on them is beautifully carthatic.
Honestly my favourite moment of the game. You can just see the boiling anger as pizzaman starts throwing all the bosses he's already beat at him before he unleashes a wild scream that freaks out pizzaman and just goes ballistic on them all. Fun way to do a boss rush also the music slaps so hard

I just realized the Vigilante's scrapped face animations mimic Doomguys face! He has the idle "look left and right" an anger face when taking down enemies, an evil grin when he gains toppings, the works!

The development of this game is so expansive, I feel there's so much more things unused than stuff actually included in the game! Would be nice to see it as DLC

Someone made a fangame called Sugary Spire where you play as The Noise with his beta movement mechanics (he controls very differently to Peppino) and possibly other beta content. Give it a look-see.

Fun fact! There actually used to be a completely different tv screen for the “cheese ball” transformation. Update : The old one just didn’t exist.

If you ever doubted that game design was hard, just think about how all of this was thought through, worked on, programmed/drawn, tested, and maybe even implemented... aaand now it's all unused for the most part.

If you've actually watched the Pizza Tower development live streams you'd know that drawing a single frame of sprite animation took the creator about a minute, if not less... The art style is pretty rushed compared to most indie games. Also the development only took 5 years because the creator admitted it was very slow.

@@OhKayEl it might be a minute per frame, but given that peppino alone has over 5000 frames(and like half of that is used in the final game), that’s still a massive amount of frames over time

Notha correction, the Pineacool spinning was apparently for a mechanic where they would taunt, letting them parry your attacks.
EDIT: And the Pineapple Toppin smiling was a decoy Pineapple Toppin that would turn into the monster during Pizza Time.

i'm honestly mad they took out the manual i loved all of the graphics for all of the enemies and transformations and their descriptions, it would have been fun to see descriptions and graphics for all the new transformations and enemies in the full game i agreed with tetrabit completely
49:47 this level right here is the mansion level, which is still left over in the game, as well as the fake Peppino chaser. It is 100% accessible through the console command, as is a lot of other unused levels.

Hard more as it was planned is awful. A far better idea is that 'hard' difficulty starts the pizza face countdown as you enter a stage. Balance it with a extra bit of time added to the timer but making it almost if not completely impossible to not have Pizza Face wake up and chase you to the exit.

The fact that the first Game Maker Studio 2 demo released on my birthday makes me love this game more than I already do.
There's so much more to talk about, there's even an entire pizza tower spin off that i think was cancelled, it was called "pizza horror" i only have a concept art of the characters holding guns and a sprite of peppino, but i know that there's way more in a old stream where mcpig did a bunch of drawings about this game, i hope one day it realeases!

This is really amazing to appreciate game design and how hard it really is, bc most of these early ideas are terrible and would not work, in retrospect, but at the time, those where the best ideas the dev had, he had to make them and test them before ultimately deciding that it would not work and have to try it all again,

1:37:56 The Create Your Own Pizza mod brings back the level editor, and there’s also a mod that brings back multiplayer. I played it recently and, sure, it is very broken, but it still at least works.

The Vigilante has been able to hit Mach 4 ever sense he was made, and still can and has animations for it in the reinstation from the mod Pizza Tower United. Along with other sources I've heard from that have played as vigilante in demos.

7:44 Good to see you again, but the Shrimp thug and the Pizza slug have variants (a more dull red and red bow tie with matching iris respectively) the main ones (the ones depicted on screen now) is coughing smoke (Pizza slug) , and punching (Shrimp thug) otherwise what I’ve yet to see is correct.
It's pretty cool that you made a video and talked about how the noise was changed and how he used to have a unique one and now there's a dlc which let's you play as the noise and he has a different moveset

Hey tetra, if you didn't know, if you click the shoot button a few times vigilante will do peppinos dash so he can use the transformations that you have to press dash for. Also it's possible to beat stuff as vigilante but you need to use the noclip command and you have to figure out how to get the panel to do it.
This is like a special edition of a DVD, but for unused content
What's funny is that a lot of the Noise's stuff from the second chapter is now used and no longer scrapped since the Noise Update. Crazy right?
I think it's interesting that she is holding a dark catseye, like your using her power to boost your abilities
Absolutely amazing how so many ideas were coded, animated and implemented only for them to be discarded as they turned out to be less than ideal. Many other game devs would have just left them in because sunk cost fallacy but McPig didn't let that stop him. One of the biggest reasons why Pizza Tower is such a masterpiece, so many ideas that should have been scrapped after testing just keep making it into full games because nobody had the heart to say ''yeah we put effort into this but it sucks and needs to go''.

It would be great to see a version of the bosses with the peppino move set, and a version where they can use boss features
Here are some lost bits trivia:
Did you know that the slap attack is not completely removed? It only appears in pepperman's boss fight when you're carving out a statue or hitting pepperman while he's small. SPOILERS --> in pizzaface's boss fight during the boss gauntlet peppino does every attack and i mean EVERY attack in just a slight second you can see the slap and the trashcan was changed to the trashcan power up you can even see the cheese!
You can also see it when hitting a tv that traps the king ghost in pizzascare

i fell like they scrapped the 3d jumpscares in dont make a sound bc of gamemaker engine witch doesnt support 3d they could've tried to do smthing like donkey kong country or even fnaf but it would look like a videos in 420p because gamemaker 2 is a pixel engine

You can actually see alot of the noises unused transformations if you go into the character select room from the debug menu and install a mod to give yourself transformations with a keybind!
i remember how in a old release of pizza tower. Combos would last like 2 seconds and it would be impossible to get a p rank because at that time the A rank was the highest rank you could get

There's also an unused sound in the game names sfx_santa1 + 2. it sounds like santa saying "Oh oh oh ohh! Merry Christmas!"
Theres a bunch more unused sounds, but yeah those are from "Peppino's xmas break"

2 hours of pizza tower unused content IS LONG ENOUGH
1:25:37 is no doubt a reference to HP discourse where it was confirmed wizards used to shit themselves before magic was invented.
Perhaps the phone was meant as some kind of early Lap 2, where he would call Pizzaface and make him wake faster, hence the sped up timer. The scream would be Peppino realizing what he has done and then he freezes in place as it was not coded in to any levels and didnt have anywhere to teleport Peppino and just freezes him.
There’s so much stuff you could make a sequel
Fun fact: This noise animation will be added in future updates of this game and there is also a mechanic for throwing mort (all this was published on the official Twitter Pizza Tower) 32:10

I actually first heard about this game game from people playing the beta and from what I remember the select screen for character. From what I remember the select screen had looked like a verses screen with pepino on the left and the noise on the right.

My best guess for the three chickens following you is that like in Yoshi's Island you can stack up chicken to a certain amount like the Yoshi eggs and like you said were able to throw them at enemies and maybe other breakable blocks.
5:46 the pizza mancer is in the combo meter, as you can see in this timestamp, the combo meter can be seen when killing an enemy, the combo meter appears below Peppinos TV facecam which shows the pizza mancer ending the combo timer.

I noticed that Super Peppino's transformation design was the same as the old noise design with the pepperoni pizza on the top of his hat and the pizza logo on his shirt.

Cottoncoated is moreso a mix of the older and newer knight transformations, having the old attack and new double jump
