Hey! Just came across this video. Thanks for reviewing the S4. I have since rebranded my channel to be more focused on Atlavox. I just wanted to mention, the reason you were having some trouble separating the case is because I do the final tightening of the SMA connector AFTER the case is assembled, because the antenna connector overlaps both sides of a case a little bit. It doesn't affect the water seal, as the O-ring is fully enclosed on one side of the case, but the washer and hex base have a wider diameter and do pinch the bottom part of the case too. So next time, just loosen that SMA connector a bit before disassembling and it should be ok. I hope to have the next version of the S4 within a month. They are out of stock right now. I wish I had ordered more at the time. Thanks again. -Matt
Hi Matt! Love the product! I used it as the radio to host a TC2 BBS during Huntsville Hamfest this past weekend. It performed fantastically. I will do a followup vid in the next week or so. Thanks for reaching out and the tip! 73
@@digital.rancher Absolutely!!!! I wanted to make something like that a few years ago. I am so happy that the whole mesh net "fad" turned into a trend and is well on its way to becoming a staple in our communication toolbar....'73.
For cold and hot climate, using LIC instead of Li-Ion 18650 battery would make it perfect especially since it's on the more expensive side for a complete kit.
Thanks for the comment! LICs are interesting tech. We still don't see them as general replacements for battery energy storage in consumer electronics. I don't disagree they would be preferred in extreme temps but cost and relative capacity seem to be holding LICs back in most consumer applications.
@@digital.rancher for a node/IoT/low power applications it's way enough, it can work and be charge within a way larger range of temps while being much safer
How are you connecting the bbs to the solar node. I want to do the same thing and was hoping to put the rpi zero in the case in the two empty cells. I’m curious how you did it.

Any idea when you might have more S4s in stock? Seems like a lot of bang for the buck. I'd like to buy a couple of them to widen my mesh.
Love to see the care and concern people put into there products! 👍
Agreed. When I see that, I can't help but want to support them! Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@digital.rancher Don't know how much Meshtastic is in my area but defiantly got my interest.
Truly fantastic!!!!! I am going to purchase one of these as soon as he restocks. Thank you so much for the video!!
I am glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching and commenting. 73!

100% agree! I hope it will be available as bare bones soon in the EU
Fingers crossed for you! Please keep me posted! Thanks for watching and commenting. 👍
Hope to see you on the mountain! I'll have my several Meshtastic devices with me. 73
Awesome! Looking forward to it Jeff!
I just picked up a B&Q Station G2. Should be here next week.

The solar node is a fully functioning wisblock/Rak Meshtastic device, it connects to the raspberry pi vis USBC.
