Since you guys are in Johor, head on to Batu Pahat, the city of Kerepek (chips).
They even have lots of small scale factories owned and operated by the locals and they even sell their chips straight out of the warehouse like Azhar Food and Salim Food.
And don’t forget to get your hands on Nasi Ambeng, Mee Racun, Lontong Kering, Murtabak, Mee Bandung, Laksa Johor (made with spaghetti).

"Pulled tea" or teh tarik is actually a method of reducing the temperature of the tea from boiling (undrinkable) to hot but drinkable. Putting an ice cube dilutes the flavour of the tea whereas simply by "pulling" retains it. Sometimes evaporated milk (susu cair) is added (although in very small amounts) on top of the condensed milk (susu manis) for more foam (or taste?) therefore changes the taste a little bit but in general more well liked. It is pulled 2 to 3 times depending on length of pull and temperature of water but usually after 3 times of a long pull, the drink is no longer hot to most people's liking. That is why kopi tarik, milo tarik, nescafe tarik etc exist as well. Nowadays, "tarik" is more commercialized so you have cool/icy drinks with "tarik" on it and a distinct flavour associated with it.

Yup, keju is from the Portuguese word "Quejio". The Portuguese introduced cheese and butter when they conquered Malacca in 1511. They also introduced "Pão de Lô" or "Bolo" (Portuguese sponge cake) during that 130-year rule. Malays call it Bahulu. Another food that the Portuguese introduced was Kaya or egg jam. The difference is we use pandan instead of vanilla, as well as coconut milk. Another Portuguese sweet that has been part of our cuisine, as well as Thai is the "Fios de Ovos" or Jala Mas in Malay.

Teh tarik technique is to cool down the boiling tea which is a technique generally used in India for tea or coffee.

I think the more accurate word for Malaysian 'kuih' is sweets or desserts. Please do enjoy more of them if you got the chance.
