      They didn't do a good job of a packaging. They should have packed the spiders in moist paper towels and at the very least taped them together.

  • @makomarquis
    @makomarquis 8 лет назад +5

    I am glad the spider was okay. I don't like the way it was packed so loosely in the deli-cup. I think if it was in the cup protected by damp paper towels to prevent being tossed around it would have been fine. I would add some more substrate and dampen it more. remove the flower pot she will dig her own hole. Grats on the new pet hole.

  • @MonsterReptilesandExotics
    @MonsterReptilesandExotics  8 лет назад +5

    thanks for your comment. I agree on the packing they could have done a much better job. her tank is completely different and the substrate is 6.5 inches thick. I made some starter holes but she doesn't dig lol I have a video of the new tank set up. I also have a pink toe that will not climb. it just sits on the ground lol

    Great video! My buddy just got a cbt from the same company and some others t's and they all arrived cold and looked like death curls with very awful packaging seemed very rushed/cheap! Luckily they all ended up being okay after some warming up but he was able to literally pick the cbt up without it even moving and we put it in a temp housing and when it warmed up it was pissed! When going to transfer it again it bolted at warp speed out and onto the table then ran down to the carpet! ended up getting her but MAN THAT SHIT WAS SCARY as these are so fast they can be gone in a blink of a eye and can be extreme aggressive especially due to the state of them on arrival.

      Thanks for watching! Backwater did a good job except for when it came to ordering my Madagascar hissing cockroaches. It took several days over the time that they were supposed to be here. My T's are healthy and arrived a little earlier than expected by a few hours, but when I talked to Backwater about my hissing cockroaches they got right back with me. I had no problems with their customer service but they don't have a phone number, they only communicate through email. They're not that bad, but ordering animals through the mail, people have to understand that things can go wrong. UPS people are not as understanding of our animals as we are and they shift the boxes and throw the boxes and are on conveyor belts so it's not always Backwater fault. When the UPS guy brought me my T's off the truck he flipped it and held it like a football so made me extremely angry. So it's not always Backwater fault or the person you're ordering from. They go through a long process of shipping. Thanks for subscribing and continue to watch our videos. We're going to upload all of our T's and Reptiles.

    • @ramsinbabakhan3629

      to be fair no carrier cares about whats inside of your pkg, i worked for UPS. according to them its up to the shipper to make sure its packaged correctly to with stand a 5-8ft drop. them along with other carriers are moving a million units a day, they got no time to be ringing doorbells to wait for ppl to answer or handle packages with care. if you think that irritated you its a great thing you didnt see them load your box onto the truck in the AM. i can almost guarantee my life on it that box flew a good 8+ft from the ground to the truck to be stacked and sorted for the driver. shipping anything is risky business, animals even more so, its up to the shipper to ensure whatever is inside is padded enough to take these bumps cuz they will happen and they will be plentiful.

    Damn dude, do a little research before you buy a live animal. Everyone knows not to buy from backwater. Let’s do a little constructive criticism here. First of all those spiders were packed terribly (as other ppl have told you), you shouldn’t be shaking them around when they’ve already been tossed around by the mailmen. Second, that tank is a mess, has cracks, dry substrate, shallow substrate, terrible water bowl, I could go on. The T looks dehydrated and very stressed out. I’m surprised it wasn’t dead when you opened it. Terrible commentary and camera work too. Also where is the part for the trap door? You totally skipped that part lol. The only positive thing in this video was that tarantula being alive.

      TheBlackLotusKing thanks man I appreciate it.

    • @themonstermitchells
      @themonstermitchells 6 лет назад +12

      Lets get some constructive criticism here. This is their very first unboxing and very first ordering online as the description in the video states very clearly. Tank is cracked and in previous comments it says it was repaired and tarantulas aren't super human, therefore it wouldn't affect the T. All the negatives responses from backwater reptiles are from years ago, I have never had any problems from BWR. You just have to follow protocol DO NOT ORDER IN THE WINTER MONTHS!!! THAT IS COMMON SENSE FOR THE MOST INEXPERIENCED REPTILE OWNERS!! As far as commentary, look at description "Our first video of our first unboxing :D " it doesn't say "We are professionals and we do this for a living". Also, what control do they have over the packaging "First all of those spiders were packed terribly" I'm sure if they could have done something about the packaging they would have. That's not their fault along with it looking dehydrated and stressed. And then if you did read the comments you would see that they have done an update and rehoming of the cobalt blue and it has 6+ inches of substrate to burrow in and more tank space. Also the title of this video is Unboxing Cobalt Blue Tarantula, not trapdoor. That is a separate video. Sounds like you have nothing better to do than be an ass. #gottalovethemtrolls. Hope you have a great day! Just remember be kind, and nobody is perfect and everyone makes mistakes and if we all stick together we can better each other as enthusiasts.

      SAVAGE308SNIPER. with them being packed in dirt I couldn't tell if they were alive or dead. Those are the types of species you don't just stick your finger in there to see if they are alive lol. The UPS guy flipped the box when he got them out of the truck so they were both covered in dirt.

    I don't know why people are pitchforking BWR. They are a good company. I think that there another side to those few bad stories. ;) Anyway, great unboxing and fantastic specimens!

    Apparently Backwater Reptiles is NOT the place to get tarantulas. Also, next time you get spiders, don't shake the container to see if it's in there

    cool vid, check out the videos of my absolutely gorgeous cobalt blue, I even post vids of holding and handling her, I jusr posted video of her on side of my face lol, and yes they are very aggressive but its all in how you handle them. one my videos you clearly see I just stick my hand right in front of her and she just steps right up onto my hand, I do not promote trying to handle a cobalt but yes it can be done, I got plenty videos to prove it

    • @MonsterReptilesandExotics
      @MonsterReptilesandExotics  8 лет назад

      +goblinday1 That is awesome, I will definitely check out your videos. My cobalt blue now that I have had time to get to know her is very aggressive. She likes her space but I also believe that each spider or tarantula no matter species have their own personalities. I have several T's and a couple of spiders and all of them have different personalities and I'm looking forward to getting more. Thanks for watching my video, there will me more to come.

      +Monster Reptiles oh mine is extremely aggressive!! got videos showing that to. the more aggressive the spider the more I want to hold it as dumb as that sounds, I've always had a passion for the little critters. its kind of a power trip in weird way for me to hold something like that. I find it amazing how something that weighs matter of couple ounces, few grams at most can bring full grown man to his knees.

      I dig it. I have a black widow as well, she is one of my favorites. I have had friends stop coming over because of my reptiles and spiders. It's funny to see how they react to something they fully don't understand.

      +Monster Reptiles yup I love the people like "i'm not coming over there with a spider"......thats in an enclosure behind glass locked and secured, than they talk about people they go fight at the bar lol like i'm thinking your real tuff at this point...btw UPS did same thing with mine! flipped it and tucked it under the arm, never mind live animal written in big ass letters all over every side the box, I had got spiderling king baboon that was completely buried almost smothered!

    Cobalt blue tarantulas are opportunistic burrowers you need to add at least 4 to 6 inches of substrate. This hobby already has enough careless owners who fail to do research on their T's. Don't be stupid and research on your specimen

    Do not order from them. When I got my T from them in February, she was literally thrown in a tub with no padding whatsoever. She was completely cold and lethargic. I completely put her in my tortoise room and after a few hours she finally warmed up. Do your research on these companies. They absolutely don't have the best intentions regarding your animal.

  • @ChloeASMR91

    first of all their are a few possible treats that i have indicated with you're pet? why is you're tank cracked along the sides of the glass panel? and secondly you dont know how to use a tripod for youtube properly lol. thirdly the substrate is not high enough it needs to be at least 6 inches deep so the T can burrow? i hope you have since transferred it out and into a new enclosure without a cracked glass panel and made the substrate high enough for her to burrow?.

    All there animals are wild caught and i ordered a box turtle and it was dead.

    • @MonsterReptilesandExotics
      @MonsterReptilesandExotics  7 лет назад

      LazyDylan actually that's very false. they have 3 different locations. We've made several orders from these guys, this is just one of many. I would give them another try and order your reptiles and exotics during the spring time when its warmer so they have a better chance of surviving the weather. Also a lot of causes of death is from shipping because they come off of conveyor belts and the personnel handle the packages so roughly. I really appreciate you watching the video and I hope your ordering experiences with whoever you order from are successful.

    • @PrimitivTool
      @PrimitivTool 7 лет назад

      ok Thats just what I heard and also I ordered in the summer so idk

    • @MonsterReptilesandExotics
      @MonsterReptilesandExotics  7 лет назад

      LazyDylan it could also be the carrier that they used. the UPS guy we talked to said they drop from a 20 foot conveyor belt. I have heard some horror stories from different breeders about shipping and its all really just from individul personal experiences. We've been doing RUclips for 2 years and we also take in and rehabilitate injured and unwanted animals. next time if your wanting to get another turtle I would look into a Russian tortoise, they are really durable and great for beginners.

    • @PrimitivTool
      @PrimitivTool 7 лет назад

      I wanted a russian tortoise but I dont have much time anymore thats why I got into tarantulas. My rose hair is coming from jamies t's soon.

    Should be titled "how NOT to rehouse an old world tarantula." Using 4" tweezers is just asking for an extremely painful bite, and then to make it worse, you nudged it toward your exposed hand...

    • @MonsterReptilesandExotics
      @MonsterReptilesandExotics  7 лет назад

      drgnfrc13 obviously the 4" tweezers was an oversight on my part but this was my first unboxing of any arachnid of any kind. What can I say? You live and you learn :)
