      I’ve worked in the tech field for 12 years now and have done or visited most of the places he has visited for a lot less salary yet I have 2 kids, a house, 4 cameras, still employed and still married. So it depends on how you spend your money on day to day basis.

    • @clydetripoux5041
      @clydetripoux5041 4 года назад +41

      It depends on what you call 'to live'... If it means spending your time moving around visiting places and going from job to job, then yes, he 'lived' a lot !. Some people spend all their lives in one place and know the world better than a lot of travelers. Anyway, difficult to say what this guy lived but it's funny to watch.

I'll be 30 next year, I have no degree, I dropped out of a coding bootcamp (I was falling behind), no money saved, and no car. But I am not letting this stop me from reaching my goals. I will enroll in community college next semester, study CS (since I loved it ever since the bootcamp) and continue pushing. Yes, my career options will diminish every year that pass, but I rather try than just give up and feel miserable of my life. This story is pretty amazing - mostly inspirational and a little depressing, especially knowing that I burned much of my 20s and some 30s. But to dissipate the depression some of you are feeling right now. :), try to think about your own passions and ambitions, not that of the Techlead. He has been generally pursuing his passions since he was a kid, and as we've all been told, if you stay committed to your passions, you can become successful, and at the very least, learn a lot of lessons and good life experience during your pursuit which could lead you down a path you never dreamed of. Use the angst you are feeling and keep moving forward. I think the Techlead provides incredibly sound advice/wisdom and good/thorough thought processes for making big (and small) life decisions and navigating those. Take what is useful to you, apply it, keep evaluating the outcomes, and write your OWN story, as the TL has advised. :)

I am continuing to move past my own mental roadblocks because I believe that the mind is mostly what holds us back - not other people, circumstances, or money, but our own habitual thinking and not knowing our true selves that keep us stuck in "safe mode". We need to break those repetitive cycles and beliefs that are so engrained in us from childhood and that continue to influence our decision making. I think that's part of why I love to travel, because I feel like that curious kid envisioning endless possibilities and letting go of my old self-defeating thoughts. Too bad some of those thoughts creep back in when I return home. :) But gotta keep working to conquer those!

I guess now you’ve settled down and I’m happy for you and maybe even jealous at one point of how much you’ve done and how you simply left great jobs when you got bored etc. I guess that comes with your experience and you know it’ll be easy to get another great job when you want. This vvideo actually taught me to appreciate what I already have at some point. Otherwise you’ll always strive for more and try to fill/escape from the hole with short-term happiness boosters. Rather search for long-term satisfaction.
