True, BUT, the older you get, the less likely there is to be a "lump." I got diagnosed with stage 4, and there was NO OBVIOUS LUMP! They can cure breast cancers stages 1-3, but not stage 4. Anyway, I also learned other signs like tightness or toughness in some or all of the breast, size or shape changes, scaly or flaky skin on the breasts, any pain that isn't normal for you, unusually intense fatigue, any discharge other than milk, or an inverted nipple. My only symptoms were a really easily ignored pain, crazy fatigue, and an ever so tiny yet incredibly vague "is this a lump?" that not even my doctor could tell if it was there or not, for which he wisely sent me THAT DAY for an afternoon of mammogram, ultrasound, and biopsies, which triggered another 4 months of imaging, surgeries, and eventually treatment that saved my life before I was ever even sick! That was all I had to warn me I was already stage 4. Never ignore pain that isn't your norm. I ignored that tiny pain for over a year until I was too tired to keep my eyes open all day!!
