Carl Maria such an underrated composer. I grew up listening to Melvyn Tan’s recording. This one was fantastic, just like maestro Tan’s!

Having listened to various other interpretations, I am astounded by the extraordinary lyricism of Alexei Volodin and the SWR Symphony Orchestra, under Dima Slobodeniouk, reflecting the musings of a damsel pining for her knight who has gone on a crusade to the Holy Land.
