To be fair, he's never gotten the popular vote, nor run in a general election since 2020. Many Republicans left the party after January 6, disgusted by what they witnessed. We shall see this November, but the only way he could win, is by the Electoral Vote (an antiquated idea in elections, which needs to be abolished). Every time, he's gotten less votes, and people, in general, are tired of his antics, and want him to go away. There are enough problems in America, the president shouldn't be one.

@@HKim0072sometimes Tim says things and I’m like “my brain can’t work like that because my experiences are different” but then I listen and walk away with remembering that that’s how we used to converse at one time politically and just as humans. Things I don’t agree with, I can still see how Tim sees it and how it makes sense situationally and from his perspective and I’ve noticed he does that to people he interacts with too. It’s an understanding that helps us overcome some of the toxic individualism and/or tribalism. Honestly I was in my early twenties, in college, and not as tuned in to politics as I am today so I barely remember this level of civility (pre maga) and understanding but also having introspection and being just real. I like listening to the bulwark because besides not being an echo chamber for me, I get to hear from real people who identify as Republicans that aren’t perpetually angry at things like brown m&ms or fear mongering about things that don’t exist.
I wish the Bulwark existed before my dad got hooked on propaganda and became hateful, angry and hurtful. I can’t totally blame his media diet I guess but he is a mirror imagine of what he consumes. (Or he was last time we spoke 3 years ago 🤷♀️)

Before the right wing took over the GOP, I would be considered center-left. That's why if I disagree with some of their positions, I'm like no big deal. It's not that far away.
Zero chance I'd even consider voting for anyone in the GOP now. In the past, maybe it was 20% chance.
And this started in the 2000s (maybe late '90s with Newt). When McCain couldn't get the immigration, climate change bills into laws, it was an "uh oh" moment looking back.
I think we re going to see the Republicans like him make a big statement vote in November.

Trump was at Arlington for the memorial for the 13 dead service members. Kamala was in her Washington DC mansion and brandon was on the beach.
Trump was NEVER a deal maker with Senate or Congress Democrats and he ran home to FLORIDA instead of attending innauguration or doing ANY of transition of power for the American people. First time since US civil war ! He did not leave the tradition private ‘note’ for next incoming president either.

I was a Republican, and am still registered as a Republican, and I am so embarrassed and chagrined by this current group of Republicans who are not denouncing Trump, that I am about to switch as well. I've seen a few of Tim's videos now and this is the first I've learned he was a former Republican! Ironically he mentions compassionate conservatism. After being R for 20 years, the last time I voted R was for GWB who professed compassionate conservatism. Stopped believing any R since and now it's become the nightmare that is MAGA.

I don't know that Tim ever called himself a "conservative" Republican: he most commonly uses "Republican squish" when referring to the sort of Republican he was, which I think means that he was never really into the parts of the Republican agenda normally deemed "conservative" (maybe fiscally but definitely not socially or culturally)

Speaking of double standards, I'm a retired statistician. In my lifetime since JFK there have been six Democrat and six Republican Presidents, total time in office for both parties is 32 years. The national debt as a % of the nation's GDP DECLINED for five of the six Democrats during their terms, and INCREASED for five of the six Republicans. In total, more than 100% of the net increase in the national debt as a % of GDP came under Republicans, while a net DECREASE occurred while Democrats were in the Oval Office. Please spread this little acknowledged fact.

Thanks for standing up to Morgan's feigned non-partisanship and his lies about not being a Trumpist. Not sure how anyone can watch how he treats the two candidates in his monologues and not tell he is on Team Trump. Also thank you for being a (former) Republican who has kept their dignity and, along with Kinzinger and Cheney, show people that voting for Kamala now is the right thing to do if you value a democratic system of government over a despotic or autocratic one.
